2017 Jaguar Model Year Preview and Updates

Jaguar, the upscale Brit, is currently enjoying a resurgence in the US, built on an improved value proposition, credible quality, better reliability, and an expanded lineup. That larger lineup now includes an all-new XE four door sedan and Jaguar's first crossover, the F-Pace - pictured above. JAGUAR F-TYPE: An entry-level F-Type has been added to the lineup, improving its accessibility by some $3,600 on the F-Type coupe and roughly $2,700 for the F-Type convertible. XE: Jaguar's compact four door is all-new, and intended to make headway into the sport sedan market long dominated by BMW's 3 Series and, more recently, Audi's A4. The XE brings a tightly drawn platform, responsive drive character and three powertrains to the table, including a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel. It is on sale now. XF: Jaguar's midsize 'saloon' adds a 2.0-liter turbodiesel to its menu, along with Configurable Dynamics. This optional package allows individual settings for suspension, steering, throttle and transmission. XJ: Jaguar's 2017 XJ builds on the 2016 refresh with the addition of new colors and wheels. F-Pace: Jaguar's first crossover has everything it needs to compete with Porsche's Macan, BMW's X3/X5 and M-B's GLC/GLE. As this suggests, the F-Pace is a 'tweener, sitting between compact and midsize crossovers. It seats five, and is available with either a 2.0-liter turbodiesel or supercharged V6. The line starts at your local Jaguar showroom.

Jaguar details XE for North America

Jaguar is bringing the XE to North America next spring, and in advance of its arrival, the British automaker is giving us more details on its new compact sports sedan. The top engine choice is dubbed the XE 35t, which is a little misleading since its tried-and-tested 3.0-liter V6 is actually supercharged, not turbocharged. Regardless of the manner of forced induction, its 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque are claimed to propel the XE to 60 miles per hour in 4.9 seconds on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 155 miles per hour. Buyers looking for something more frugal at the pump may be more interested in the other engine option. The XE 20d adopts Jaguar's new Ingenium diesel, a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four good for 180 hp and 318 lb-ft of torque. That's quoted for a 0-60 time of 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph. Both are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive will also be available on both versions, but come by default in rear-drive form. Buyers will also have the choice among three trim levels, staring with Premium, moving up to Prestige and on to R-Sport with satin chrome and gloss black trim, a rear spoiler and 20-inch alloys. Jaguar offers best glimpse yet at new F-Pace [w/video]

The upcoming new Jaguar F-Pace crossover promises to be both fast and comfortable, but its reveal has been somewhat slow and painful. Fortunately it'll all come to a close soon when Jaguar finally takes the wraps off the finished product at the Frankfurt Motor Show less than two weeks from now. But before it does, it's offering us one more glimpse at its forthcoming debut crossover. Though once satisfied leaving the high-riders to its sister brand Land Rover, Jaguar declared its intention to get into the crossover market when it presented the C-X17 at the Frankfurt show two years ago. We've since seen the concept rehashed in different colors, more spy shots of prototypes undergoing testing than we could shake an aluminum stick at, and even more teaser images and videos – including some barely wearing any camouflage at all. But this is out best look at it yet. And with it, the British automaker confirms that the crossover will hit US showrooms next Spring. The production F-Pace is pictured above and at the end of the video below in S trim, production spec, and in profile ahead of its global debut. And looking at it side by side with the concept, it's clear that Jaguar has kept faithful to the original design. The side vent has been reshaped, the rear haunch smoothed out, the roofline appears to slope a little more, and some minor details have been rethought. But otherwise it's a dead ringer, at least as far as we can tell so far. Even the wheel design is strikingly similar. But we'll reserve final judgement for when we see it up close, personal, and from all the angles upon its debut – though we don't doubt we'll see a bit more of it between now and then.
