European Collectibles is pleased to offer this fully restored and matching numbers 1954 Jaguar XK120 Roadster.
This beautifully restored Jaguar XK120 was sold new to a doctor in Michigan who owned it for over forty years. After his death in 1995, it was sold to a dealer who sold it in 1996 to a gentleman who used it during the summer months for the next ten years. When, in 2006, a new clutch was necessary (which requires removal of the engine) the decision was made to do a full restoration. The work was carried out by noted Jaguar specialist, Piscazzi Auto Body of Akron, Ohio. Mr. Piscazzi is well-known among Jaguar enthusiasts for building some very high scoring JCNA concours cars. In fact, Mr. Piscazzi embarked on the restoration of this car right after finishing the restoration of his own personal 1952 Jaguar XK120. Although not originally Jaguar Bronze, a similar shade was chosen for this car. The original Suede Green interior color was chosen when this interior was replaced by Frank Konkoly of the Upholstery Shop in Akron, Ohio. The top and original side curtains are black, and the toneau cover is Suede Green. The list of mechanical work performed
includes, but is not limited to: rebuilt - cylinder head rebuilt, - new valves, -
rebuilt carburetors, - restored intake manifold, - new clutch, - “custom” heavy
duty shifting fork, - new throw out bearing, - new water pump, - new belts and
hoses (all), - thermo electric fan, - new brakes and wheel cylinders, -
completely rebuilt front end, - new oil seals, etc., etc. Electrical - complete
new wiring harness, - rebuilt generator, -rebuilt voltage regulator, - new
improved gear reduction starter, - new fuel sending unit, - new batteries, -
new coil, - new points, - new condenser, etc., etc. Miscellaneous - new wood
floorboards and trunk boards, - five new radial tires and tubes, stainless
steel exhaust, rebuilt rear shocks, - new front shocks. The chrome was plated by Custom Chrome. Since the restoration, this fine Jaguar has
been used sparingly and has always been serviced. A recent rebuilding of the brake master cylinder
has just been completed along with several test drives by the mechanic to
ensure proper sorting. Please note that although not restored to its original paint color, this
Jaguar has all of its factory numbered components in place - engine
block, cylinder head, transmission and body. Receipts and photos from the restoration are also included in the sale. We welcome bidders from anywhere in the world. We are happy to arrange shipping on your behalf, but all associated charges are the responsibility of the buyer. CA residents are required to pay sales tax, license and registration. |

Question of the Day: What's the greatest British car ever?
Fri, Jul 15 2016The British automotive industry has produced everything from high-production econo-commuters to staggeringly luxurious oligarch-wagons, along the way winning plenty of races and building plenty of beautiful machines. The original Mini led directly to the past half-century of transverse-engine, front-wheel-drive cars built everywhere, the MGB put the sporty little convertible into everyone's reach, and the Morris Oxford became the most beloved motor vehicle in India. So many to choose from, but we want you to pick one. What will it be? Related Video:
Seven-figure cars highlight day one of RM's Monterey auction
Sat, 17 Aug 2013RM Auctions is one of several houses holding auctions during the Monterey weekend, and Friday night's festivities got quite pricey. Seven-figure vehicles were not at all uncommon during the first day of the two-day event, with the 1953 Ferrari 375 MM Spider, seen above, crossing the block for $9,075,000.
Other big earners included a pair of rare Ferraris, a 1950 166 MM Barchetta and a 1955 750 Monza Spider, which took $3,080,000 and $4,070,000, respectively. Outside of the red Italians, a 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special captured $7,480,000 while a stunning, color-appropriate 1955 Jaguar D-Type took $3,850,000. We've got images of these vehicles, and a few other stunning examples of last night's auction, in the gallery above.
Thought it seems impossible, tonight's auction is expected to see even more high-dollar action. The winner of the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours, a 1928 Mercedes-Benz 680S Torpedo Roadster is expected to command over $10 million. Also crossing the block will be a car we reported on a few weeks back - a supremely rare 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder. One of only 10 in the world, it's expected to take anywhere from $14 to $17 million when it hits the stage tonight.
CMC to produce limited run of Callum's Jaguar Mark 2 [w/video]
Thu, 04 Sep 2014We were a more than a little jealous when designer Ian Callum revealed his Jaguar Mark 2 restomod that he commissioned from Classic Motor Cars. It turns out that we weren't the only ones that dug it - the reaction was so great that CMC got Callum's permission to create a limited run of them for customers. Although, with prices quoted between £350,000 and £375,000 ($572,000 - $613,000), we doubt Ian needs to worry about seeing a copy of his creation pass him too soon.
"Within hours we had received calls from people all over the globe asking if they could buy one," said Peter Neumark, Chairman of CMC in the latest announcement. The reaction came as a surprise to Callum, who said he designed the car entirely to his own specifications and actually wasn't sure if people would like it.
Among Callum's many changes are new bumpers, wider front fenders with functional louvers and less chrome trim. Under the hood is a 4.3-liter six-cylinder fitted with two SU carbs putting out around 260 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. It should be a much better driver too, with a completely re-engineered independent rear suspension, adjustable dampers at all four corners, improved brakes and a new rack and pinion steering system designed by CMC with electric assist.
