When obtained the body was in exceptional condition considering it had been in storage for approximately 40 years. New sills and floor pans as well as shut panels installed. Door hinges new as well. Door internals rebuilt as needed and are solid and strong. Other body repair work and replacement of metals was performed to original manufacture specifications. Shipping arrangements can be made for delivery internationally and I will be happy to assist the successful foreign or overseas bidder with those arrangements. A $1000 down payment is required of the successful bidder within 48 hours of the auction listing end. Balance of funds to be made in cash (in person), by electronic transfer, or upon presentation and clearance of a certified check through my account. The car will not be released for shipment or delivery until paid in full with funds in my account. A modest reserve bid amount has been set that is consistent with the current mid-value range of this particular make and model, leaving room for immediate and continued appreciation in value for the new owner. Personal inspection can be arranged by calling 607-349-5889. I have described this car after 14 years of ownership and hands on restoration to the best of my ability. However bidders should rely on their own interpretation and examination of this automobile including an inspection at their own expense prior to bidding. Questions will be answered openly and honestly.
Thanks for looking! On Jan-25-14 at 08:23:05 PST, seller added the following information: This car is listed locally for sale and I reserve the right to cancel this auction listing if the vehicle is sold prior to the close of bidding. On Jan-27-14 at 09:07:29 PST, seller added the following information: Something I forgot to mention: During the restoration process one accumulates an overflow of extra bits and parts and there are boxes of spares that will be included with the car. This includes an extra set of cam cover gaskets, various grommets and clips, extra bulbs for the interior light over the rear window, bulbs for the boot light, fasteners, and other parts of interest. Also, the rear spring gaiters are not installed but are brand new and will be included. The springs are new and I just didn't want to cover them up. All of the clips for the tools that mount in the boot, although only the spat removal tool is available and plugs for the jack, etc. |

Leno and Ian Callum pilot Jaguar XK120 at 2014 Mille Miglia
Mon, 02 Jun 2014Jay Leno has been in a British mood recently with his videos highlighting the McLaren P1, 1962 Norton 650SS and Steve McQueen's 1956 Jaguar XKSS. He's keeping the streak alive this week with a look at driving a Jaguar XK120 in the 2014 Mille Miglia historic rally with Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum.
The video show off Jay Leno's Garage in top form. It's way more than just Jay driving the 1,000-mile route from Brescia, Italy, to Rome and back. He also includes interviews with Stirling Moss about winning the race back in 1955, and racer Martin Brundle about what it's like to drive a long-nose Jaguar D-Type this year.
Today, the Mille Miglia is only for historic cars, and it has a much more relaxed pace than the original all-out event. However, this isn't entirely a cruise. Leno seems scared at times talking about it because the drivers are free to ignore the speed limits and open the cars up as much as they are willing to. The roads aren't shut down for regular traffic, either, and things can be dangerous.
Jaguar Project 7 concept is an F-Type in a D-Type mold [w/video]
Wed, 10 Jul 2013In addition to the XJR, XFR-S and XKR-S GT models Jaguar is bringing to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, the manufacturer announced that the F-Type-based, D-Type-inspired Project 7 design study will make its "dynamic" debut at the festival, with driving duties assigned to Mike Cross, Jaguar's chief engineer of vehicle integrity. Here's the cool part: With Jaguar's Director of Design, Ian Callum, leading the team responsible for Project 7, it went from the drawing board to track testing in only four months, Jaguar states, with a claimed 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds and top speed of 186 miles per hour.
Project 7, which was named in honor of Jaguar's seven wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be making runs up the hill at Goodwood over all three days of the festival, which starts at the Goodwood House in West Sussex, England, this Friday.
Far from a fragile concept car, Jaguar says, the single-seat Project 7 is a fully functional sports car. It uses the all-aluminum chassis and body of the F-Type, retains that car's 550-horsepower, supercharged 5.0-liter V8 and eight-speed automatic transmission but features lots of bespoke carbon fiber aerodynamic bits, some of which were inspired by the Le Mans-winning D-Type of the 1950s. The most obvious nod to that classic is the rear fairing with integrated rollover hoop - the F-Type's convertible top is gone. The windshield was also lowered, giving the roadster a more rakish silhouette as it sits on 20-inch forged-alloy wheels with carbon fiber inserts.
Jaguar to go racing with F-Type GT3?
Sat, Nov 22 2014Most British automakers have some manner of racing program. Aston Martin, Lotus and McLaren race as a matter of course. Bentley recently got back into racing, Morgan has dabbled here and there, even Land Rover has its off-road racing programs. The only one, it seems, that isn't racing these days is Jaguar... but that could be about to change. The latest intel from the UK suggests that Jaguar is closely evaluating the prospect of building a GT3-spec racer based on the F-Type. Like the Bentley Continental GT3 co-developed with M-Sport (not to mention Coventry's own successful partnership with TWR), the Jaguar program would need an established racing outfit to help develop the car and field it, and the automaker is said to be evaluating three potential partners. The development of the GT3 racer would allow Jaguar to compete (or sell cars for others to compete) in a variety of racing series around the world, including the Blancpain Endurance Series, the European Le Mans Series and, if properly adapted, other series like the United SportsCar Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Jaguar's car would have to compete with such rivals as the Aston Martin Vantage GTE, Audi R8 LMS, Ferrari 458 GT, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3 R. Current FIA GT3 regulations use a Balance of Performance equation that allows for a curb weight between 1,200 and 1,300 kilograms (2,645 to 2,866 pounds) and produce between 500 and 600 horsepower. A more cost-effective GT4 racer could follow. But the best part is that Jaguar could, according to the report in Autocar, develop a road-going version as well, even more focused than the Project 7 pictured above and similar to what Bentley did with the Continental GT3-R. Jaguar of course has had a rich history with motor racing, reaching back to its dominance at Le Mans in the 1950s with the C-Type and D-Type, extending through the TWR partnership in touring car and endurance racing in the 1980s and 90s, to the short-lived Formula One team that became Red Bull Racing. It launched a GT2-spec XKR a few years ago and was tipped to be developing a new LMP1 prototype, but neither are on the track today, where Jaguars only compete in vintage racing.
