Rare 1988 Jaguar Xjs Convertible Hess And Eisenhardt Edition Clear Title on 2040-cars
Jacksonville, North Carolina, United States
Here's your opportunity to buy one of the most beautiful cars on the road today, in great shape and for a reasonable price. This is only the second year of production for a Jaguar convertible and is the extremely rare Hess & Eisenhardt coachbuilt model. The lines are smoother and the car is lower than the factory convertible models of 1989 and later. This XJ-S has low miles (53,750) and is in amazing cosmetic condition. Most importantly, the mechanicals are in great shape as well. She starts, idles and runs without any issues. Many new parts have been installed over the past 4 years to keep her running in top shape; battery, alternator, fuel injection hoses, spark plugs, fuel cooler, ignition module, belts, thermostats, distributor cap and rotor, starter, brake pads, tires, fuel filter, fuel pump, etc. The motor is a 5.3L V-12 that is quite reliable and the transmission is a GM TH400--strong, quiet and shifts without any problems. The car has 4 wheel disc brakes and a limited-slip differential. The wheels are very expensive Dayton wire wheels with Michelin tires mounted. The car has A/C but it is not blowing cold (it is a convertible after all). The interior has a nice Pioneer head unit and speakers, leather panels in beautiful condition, lots of chrome trim, real wood trimmings, and an adjustable wood steering wheel. The trunk is fully lined and is very big. The car has a new, fully automatic convertible top that raises and lowers without issues. It comes with a sunshield that allows you to park and leave the top down-- it covers the entire interior, keeping it safe, cool and clean. This Jaguar went through an extensive restoration several years ago where many body panels were replaced and welded in an effort to remove any rust on the body. After the body was straightened out, a coat of Cadillac Cotillion White was professionally sprayed over the disassembled car. All the door jambs and under the trunk and hood were professionally finished. It is almost impossible to tell the car was originally champagne in color. There is no overspray and the body is very straight, along with a flawless shine.
I have described this car as best as I could. You certainly will not be disappointed when you see it and will agree it is a bargain for the amount asked. Jaguars are pesky cars to own, so be sure to do your homework concerning ownership of one of these amazing cars. Please call or text anytime to ask any questions or schedule a time to see this gorgeous car. |

Freelander name making jump from old Land Rover model to new EV brand
Fri, Jun 21 2024The Jaguar Land Rover House of Brands is about to grow by one. JLR signed a Letter of Intent to license a new brand called Freelander to its Chinese joint-venture partner of 12 years, Chery. For those who missed it, Land Rover sold a compact four-wheel-drive model called the Freelander or LR2, depending on market and generation, from 1997 to 2015. The Freelander didn't get the best press, but that didn't stop it from being popular because, before the Evoque, it was the least expensive way to get into something bearing the green oval. The moniker's rebirth will also apply to "mainstream" products, this time pure-electric vehicles outside of JLR's or Chery's current lineups. What's more, the Freelander range won't be limited to China, although JLR wouldn't say how long it would be before international markets could expect Freelander arrival. They new cars will be designed by teams from both automakers and sit on Chery's E0X battery-electric architecture. Car News China reports that the E0X can support an 800-volt architecture, Level 3 autonomous driving, and air suspension setups. The platform also plays nice with range-extended EVs, a powertrain type enjoying the same upswing in popularity over there as in other markets. Autocar writes that extended-range EV sales from January 2023 to September 2023 rose 157% over the same span in 2022. Chery's Luxeed R7, above, sits on E0X bones. The Luxeed R7 EV comes in single- and dual-motor variants from 288 horsepower to 489 hp, and offers a maximum range of 531 miles on the Chinese cycle. Previous to this new announcement, Chery said it would also share its M3X platform with the Chery Jaguar Land Rover collaboration, the vehicle structure said to have been developed with Magna International. The M3X is suited to internal combustion and PHEV powertrains. JLR's press release specifies that for now, Freelander will be "an advanced portfolio of electric vehicles," so it's possible future Freelanders will expand powertrain options once the electric lineup gains momentum, or the M3X might be applied to a different set of products.
Jaguar F-Pace SVR to debut this week at New York Auto Show
Mon, Mar 26 2018It should come as no surprise that the folks back in England have been working on a hot new version of the Jaguar F-Pace. Today, just ahead of the 2018 New York International Auto Show, the British automaker confirmed that the Jaguar F-Pace SVR will debut this week. The new Jaguar I-Pace and Range Rover SV Coupe will make their North American debuts alongside the F-Pace. All we know about the F-Pace SVR is that it will be the fastest and most powerful version of Jaguar's best-selling product. We don't even have a teaser photo, as Jaguar Land Rover loves to play things close to the vest, so we're sharing some spy photos that we think might be the new model. Expect some version of JLR's 5.0-liter supercharged V8. We're hoping it's the 575 horsepower variant from the refreshed Range Rover Sport SVR. Expect 0-60 mph times in the low-4-second range and a top speed of at least 155 mph. The I-Pace and Range Rover SV Coupe both debuted earlier this month at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The I-Pace is an all-electric crossover with an estimated 240 miles of range. The SV Coupe is a limited-production two-door variant of the full-size Range Rover. It's meant to be a throwback to the original two-door Range Rover Classic. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
Jaguar Land Rover exploring 3D HUD and infotainment projections
Wed, Aug 21 2019With its most recent technology research, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is exploring the use of 3D projections for a world before and/or after autonomous vehicles come to fruition. In collaboration with the United Kingdom's University of Cambridge, JLR has developed concepts for a 3D head-up display that shows information on the road ahead and a system that projects personalized 3D infotainment for vehicle passengers. As of right now, hundreds of production vehicles are equipped with two-dimensional head-up displays, some color, others black and white. Using various techniques and different technologies, manufacturers display information in a flat image in front of a driver. Some might find it distracting or unhelpful to have this in the driver's line of sight, and JLR might have found a solution. Rather than wedge the information in between the person and the view ahead, a 3D system that uses augmented reality could display the info onto the road in front of the driver. JLR thinks the system could project navigation directions, safety alerts such as lane departure, hazard detection or other bits typically found in a car's infotainment or instrument cluster. Some might find this to be even more distracting that 2D head-up displays, but to each his or her own. While the 3D head-up display is something that could be used right now, if it were released and passed legal, part two of JLR's 3D technology research is imagined for a life where truly autonomous vehicles are skating across the country. Using head- and eye-tracking technology, the system could lock into the position of numerous people in a vehicle and give each of them a personalized 3D projection "screen." This could be used to track a trip, look up points of interest, or even watch movies. JLR points out this could be used during ride-sharing without bothering others in the vehicle. The work with the Center for Advanced Photonics and Electronics at Cambridge is still in development for now, but it's only a matter of time before 3D tech makes it into cars in some degree.
