1995 Jaguar Xjs Coupe 4.0l Six Cylinder Low Production Rare Model on 2040-cars
York, Maine, United States
Up for sale is a 1995 Jaguar XJS Coupe, with the 240HP straight six motor. This is one of the last XJS's build and is the most desirable motor for ease of use, durability and reliability. This model has impressive performance results with the extensively revised AJ16, still 4.0 liters (243 cu. in.), but with a new engine management system and direct ignition, bringing it to 241 hp DIN (237 hp SAE, 177 kW) and 282 lb-ft (381 N-m) of torque. Very few Coupes were built, the stock spoiler package looks incredible, very few had them. This car was purchased from the owner of the last 15 years, it was used only in the summer in the Berkshires. It was kept off the road during the winter months, documented by insurance records. It was mostly dealer maintained and service records are included. The car is all original and in great shape. The leather is supple and crack free, there is slight discoloration on the drivers armrest from elbow where, its just nice patina. The car runs strong and is used now and then for a highway run. it pulls strong and shifts flawlessly. the tranny works in all modes ( normal, sport, second gear start ). A/C cold, heater hot , thermostat keeps the cabin perfect with no user efforts. set it and forget it! all switches and knobs work, needs a new antenna mast ( antenna must be down when raising the truck with the spoiler, the don't mention that in the manual!). headliner lose in a few spots. The exterior is straight with only 2 small parking lot dings on entire body, chrome is perfect as it has always been garaged and kept clean and waxed. The rims are true and near perfect. Tires have lots of life. Recent maintenance makes it ready to drive anywhere. This is a true driver with impeccable reliability results. They finally got it right with the AJ16 motor. The XJ* came out the next year to replace this model. Classic looks, but 19 years into the models history. You would hope they figured it out by then. This car drives like a dream, a true GT car built to compete in features and performance against the best cars in the world. It is one of the only cars I have ever owned that makes you feel refreshed after a 2 hour drive! It has been a pleasure to have had it in my life. |

Ferrari and Jaguar dominate the 2017 Arizona Auctions
Mon, Jan 23 2017The 2017 Arizona Auctions took place this past weekend, and one look at the results should be a reminder that big-name auto auctions are no place for mere mortals. Aside from the fast paced nature – seven auction houses moved 3,486 vehicles across the auction block – the rarest and most desirable cars sold for more than most people will make in a lifetime. There were around 20 cars that sold for at least $1 million, with Bonhams topping the list with a $7,370,000 1963 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight. Despite $259.8 million in sales, Hagerty reports that 2017 was only the second biggest weekend in the Arizona auction's long history. The figure was up $9 million from 2016's total, but much of that increase can be attributed to the 12-percent increase in the total number of cars auctioned. The average selling price was $89,601, with the vast majority of vehicles selling for less than $100,000. Aside from the 1963 Jaguar E-Type, there were a number of rare and noteworthy vehicles for up for grabs. RM Sotheby's $6,600,000 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster was the runner-up in value, followed closely by a $6,380,000 1952 Ferrari 340 America Competizione Spider from Bonhams. The various top-10 lists were awash with Ferraris and other European automakers, though much of the lower-end sales were populated by classic American autos. Most of the top sellers were built before 1970, though the occasional newer model (1995 Ferrari F50, 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, 2006 Ford GT) made it through. Based on 2017's overall theme, it appears that interest on cars from American automakers is on the rise. Hagerty notes that a number of 1980s American sports cars like the Chevrolet Corvette and Pontiac Firebird did surprisingly well. Look for the 2018 auctions to see if the momentum continues. Question of the Day: What's the greatest British car ever?
Fri, Jul 15 2016The British automotive industry has produced everything from high-production econo-commuters to staggeringly luxurious oligarch-wagons, along the way winning plenty of races and building plenty of beautiful machines. The original Mini led directly to the past half-century of transverse-engine, front-wheel-drive cars built everywhere, the MGB put the sporty little convertible into everyone's reach, and the Morris Oxford became the most beloved motor vehicle in India. So many to choose from, but we want you to pick one. What will it be? Related Video:
Jaguar Land Rover to cut $6.8 billion in costs
Tue, Nov 10 2015Jaguar Land Rover reduce costs by $6.8 billion and will push annual production volume to 1 million vehicles under a secret project called Leap 4.5, according to Reuters. The British automaker wants to achieve these ambitious goals by the end of the decade to compensate for the changing market in China and to counteract the price of meeting stricter emissions standards around the world. Leap 4.5 won't mean firing workers or cutting the automaker's $4.5 billion annual research budget. JLR will instead find savings by underpinning more models with modular platforms and by adjusting its supply chain. Future factories like the one in Brazil and the proposed plant in Slovakia also won't be affected by the new strategy. Globally, JLR continues to grow, and deliveries are up two percent through October 2015 to 390,965 vehicles. Business just last month was up 24 percent year-over-year to 41,553 units. However, the auto market's downturn in China has taken a bite out the automaker's success because volume dropped there 32 percent in the third quarter, Reuters reported. A global volume of 1 million vehicles will mean more than doubling 2014's 462,678 deliveries, but JLR has made significant investments to boost production recently. In addition to the future factories, it opened its first plant in China last year and an engine assembly site in the UK. The company also signed a deal with Magna Steyr in 2015 to build an upcoming model in Austria. Related Video:
