1992 Jaguar Xjs V12 Black/black on 2040-cars
Ames, Iowa, United States
I've been driving this car regularly for the last four years but it has come time to get rid of a few things. I loved this car so much I ended up buying another XJS, a convertible, that I also drove for a couple years before selling it on and keeping this one. Although this model came out in 1975 and has that great classic styling they have all of the comforts of a new car with full power and heated seats and a trip/fuel economy computer.
The car drives nice and I put on new tires after the first six months that I owned the car. I have always had it serviced when things have come up including the brakes and suspension overhaul. I just put on new headlights, they cost about $1200, because the originals were a little hazy. Everything works work except the backlight on the computer above the radio sometimes does not come on, not really needed for anything, and the air conditioning works great until the motor warms up so the HVAC must not be regulating the hot air from the heater core correctly right now. There is little wear on the edge of the drivers seat and the all of the woodwork still looks as new. I did install a modern plug socket into the center console to power cells phones because the original Jaguar cigarette outlets are not deep enough to be used by those plugs. In the trunk all of the carpeting is in place and a second pair of Jaguar floor mats come included incase you get your feet dirty. The tool bag with the tools is also in the trunk as is the spare tire. |

Jaguar F-Pace will debut in Frankfurt
Mon, Apr 6 2015Jaguar makes sports cars and it makes luxury sedans, but it is set to expand into new territory altogether at the Frankfurt Motor Show this coming September. That's where and when it will reveal the F-Pace, Jaguar's very first crossover, and the production version of the C-X17 concept pictured here. Developed with critical input from sister-company Land Rover, the Jaguar F-Pace is being billed as a "sports crossover," with a more on-road focus than the SUVs of its off-road counterpart. Expect a range of engines to draw principally off of the new Ingenium family of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel powerplants, capped by Jag's signature supercharged V6 – just like the new XE sedan with which it will share much of its underpinnings. We can always hope, though, for an even more potent SVR version to follow with the JLR's sensational 5.0-liter supercharged V8. The Frankfurt reveal will mark two years since the C-X17 concept was first presented at the same show in 2013. Its arrival, coupled to that of the aforementioned XE, promise to push Jaguar's global output up from around 80,000 units last year to more than 200,000 once both models hit their stride.
Jaguar builds F-Type to support Tour de France team [w/video]
Tue, 22 Jul 2014The Tour de France is typically a two-wheeled affair, dominated by cyclists yearning to capture the prestigious yellow jersey. While the 2014 event winds its way through Europe, Stage 20 will see an altogether different conveyance wind along the route between Bergerac and Périgueux - the Jaguar F-Type Coupe.
As part of its partnership with the British cyclists of Team Sky, Jag has enlisted its new Special Operations division to build a one-off F-Type Coupe, based on the 550-horsepower, supercharged R model.
SpecOps has removed the rear glass and come up with a creative solution to mount a pair of Team Sky's racing cycles in the back. Aside from that upgrade, the cabin boasts new upholstery in the colors of Team Sky's traditional livery. A separate power supply has been established below the bikes in what's left of the trunk, which provides juice for a set of radios and microphones, so that the team's director can communicate with the riders.
Ian Callum says Jaguar could do new wagon after all
Wed, Apr 27 2016Just the other day we brought you a report from Automotive News Europe that indicated that Jaguar was getting out of the wagon market. Now it turns out that may not actually be the case. Following the ANE report, Jaguar design boss Ian Callum tweeted out that he had been misquoted. "I said there would be no XE Sportbrake," wrote Callum. "Nothing more!" While stopping short of spelling out what the British automaker has in the pipeline, Callum's implication (by process of elimination of other Jaguar models) is that the new XF could still breed a wagon version. The previous XF Sportbrake, which also came in XFR-S performance spec, was only the second wagon Jaguar had ever made. The first was based on the X-Type that preceded the new XE; offering a long-roof version of that new sports sedan is apparently off the table, but even with the new F-Pace crossover ostensibly filling the role, a new XF Sportbrake could yet become a reality. Of course none of that means that such a wagon would make its way to North America. But we take a great deal of stock in what Callum has to say on the subject, seeing as how he designed every one of the models in question. The X-Type Sportwagon was offered Stateside, however the XF Sportbrake never was, and in addition the F-Pace promises to be a big player for the automaker on this side of the Atlantic. Do you think Jaguar should make a wagon out of the new XF, and bring that wagon to these United States? This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
