I bought this car in 1992 to use as a summer second car. I drove it on nice days until about 1996 when the company I worked for sent me to the east coast for " about six months". Six months turned into nearly three years of almost constant work. When I finally  left them and  got back to Chicago life got in the way for several more years; all the while the car was stored in a private storage facility in Chicago where it was started regularly. Then 10 years ago last month I moved it to my house/garage located right outside Chicago. It has been there ever since, raised up slightly to take the weight off the wheels and axles. It has not been started in ten years. I have been saving it as a fun car to drive again but I am moving back into the city and can no longer store it, so it has to go.

I hooked it up to my truck battery and everything works (power antenna got a little bent but works). The motor turns over with the starter but I have not tried to start it, and I will not attempt to so please don't ask.To eliminate the risk of damage  I think that at the very least the gas tank and fuel injection needs to cleaned, and lubrication forced in the top end. I am selling this as a non running project vehicle with clear Illinois title in my name. Only 31,690 true miles.

I believe I am the second owner and that it has never been in the snow since new. In fact I can only remember getting caught with it in the rain twice. Very clean rust-free body. The top and interior are very nice, no tears or sun fade. It has a very nice Nardi wood steering wheel. The wheels are in great shape. Pirelli P600 tires are in great shape condition-wise and hold air well, but they are past the age of use.

The paint is original and looks good from 10 feet away. There are numerous light scratches all over the car from storage. Many could be removed or minimized by a good buffing, but some will remain. The chrome has some light pitting, especially the center of the front bumper and grille. I counted about six very small dings around the car. Additionally, there is a small dent in the lower right front fender panel panel right behind the front wheel, and there is a crease on that side in the lower rear panel behind the rear wheel (see pic). Lastly, it looks like the driver door lower area has been repainted; I suspect to fix a door ding.

Sold as-is with absolutely no warranties or guarantees. I have done my best to accurately describe my car, Should you have any questions or need more pics feel free to ask. Please do so before bidding. If you are local I encourage you to come inspect the car in person. Cash or certified funds cleared before I release car or title. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I will do my best to assist, but you must make arrangements and payment. Thanks for looking!

New Audi design chief Massimo Frascella shaped cars for Jaguar Land Rover

Sat, Feb 17 2024

At the Audi brand, style and design have long been a high priority; think the super sleek and sexy A7 sedan, the Bauhaus-inspired TT coupe, the single-frame grille that instantly identified the marque with its down-the-road graphics. So when the Bavarians install a new head of design, that’s also worth a look. Massimo Frascella is that person, a 52-year-old Italian designer who this summer will succeed Marc Lichte. Lichte ran Audi design since 2014 and will take up a new role within the Volkswagen Group. Frascella, a student at the Istituto d`Arte Applicata & Design in Turin, ignited his career at Stile Bertone, and his resume after that evolves impressively. He subsequently held positions at Ford Motor Company and Kia, and since 2011, Frascella has held senior positions at Jaguar Land Rover. He was responsible for the creation of several models: Discovery Vision Concept (2014), Discovery Sport (2014), Discovery (2016), Velar (2017), Evoque (2019) and Defender. In 2019 he became creative director of Land Rover and in 2020 design director. He was also instrumental in the development of the range of new electric Jaguars that are in the works. “Joining Audi is a very special moment for me,” Frascella said. “I am deeply honored to assume the role of chief creative officer and to guide such a talented team in shaping the future of the brand to new heights of innovation and distinction. I believe in the emotional power of design to inspire, connect, and drive change, and I am here to nurture and promote creativity as the beating heart of our brand.” Looking back a couple of decades, it was one of FrascellaÂ’s predecessors who helped to cement AudiÂ’s reputation in automobile design: Walter de Silva. De Silva was appointed head of Audi design in 2002. From 2007 to 2015, he supervised the design strategy for the entire Volkswagen group, including the TT, the Scirocco, the Passat and the Golf. Not a bad list of achievements, but in a interview several years ago, de Silva said that he considered the 2007 Audi A5 coupe the pinnacle of his automotive design art, citing its “sex appeal, the shape of the lights, the architecture.” Design/Style Audi Jaguar Land Rover Volkswagen Automotive History

Jaguar Land Rover proposes seats that scientifically massage your butt, for your health

Thu, Jan 16 2020

Habitually sitting too long can degrade a person's health. Scientific research has proven that dormancy can increase the risk of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, deep-vein thrombosis, and metabolic syndrome, according to the Harvard Medical School. Although sitting can be avoided in many cases, such as using a standing desk at work, taking a seat is the only option when hopping in the car for a drive. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is hoping to address this negative aspect of cars with a new high-tech seat that the company says mimics the act of walking.  JLR calls the concept a shape-shifting, or morphable, seat system, and it is currently in a trial period with Jaguar Land Rover’s Body Interiors Research division. Using actuators built into the seat's foam, the seat will constantly be in motion with micro-adjustments that can be tuned to the needs of different people and body types. JLR believes it has created a system that recreates what is known as pelvic oscillation, a motion that can supposedly trick the brain into thinking the body is walking. In addition to helping to prevent internal health issues, JLR also notes that a sedentary lifestyle can degrade and shorten muscles in the legs, hips, and rear. If these muscles are worked on a regular basis, the chance and risk of injury and back issues could potentially be reduced. The new seats are just one of many car interior technologies JLR has explored. In the past, we've seen tech that tracks brainwaves and heart rates, creates augmented reality, helps prevent motion sickness, and helps stop the spread of germs. They've also taken the time to have an expert demonstrate the perfect seating position. Most of this stuff is experimental for now, but it's possible similar features could eventually trickle down to production cars, in time. See how the seat moves in the video below. Jaguar F-Type Coupe is here, will debut on stage in LA

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

When Jaguar previewed its new sportscar two years ago with the C-X16 concept, it showed a coupe form. But when the car hit production as the F-Type, it rolled out in roadster form only. Not that we're complaining, but we all knew it wouldn't be long before Coventry revealed the production coupe, and that's just what it's doing at this month's LA Auto Show.
Jaguar hasn't given us much to go on yet - just a single shot of the vehicle from above and nothing in the way of technical details - but we all know the drill. The F-Type Coupe will essentially be the same as the existing roadster, only with a fixed roof - with a large glass panel, mind you, to let plenty of light in and keep the cabin from feeling markedly more claustrophobic than the open-top version.
That ought to make it a little lighter (though not much) and a little stiffer, but otherwise we can expect more or less the same specs as the convertible. We'll have to wait until the evening of November 19 to know for sure, though, so watch this space for more.
