1989 Jaguar XJS

5.3L V12 Convertible

This low mileage, very original XJS was owned and carefully maintained by a Doctor in the Richmond, VA area since 1998. With just over 74,000 miles, this V12 still runs strong. The chrome shines bright, and the original paint still looks great.  The car has no rust issues and the rubber around the bumpers is still soft.  The car recently had a new convertible top installed, and looks absolutely fantastic. A new cover for the top (when it’s down) is included.  This blue-on-blue combination has aged well, and draws looks as it sails down the road. The Pirelli P600 tires have plenty of tread left.  None of the issues that many of these XJS’ are plagued with – bad brakes, poor motors, bad steering – are present here. This was really maintained well.

Please see below photos for short video of the motor idling

The car has a few small needs to be perfect, but not many. The parking brake needs to be adjusted, the radio needs a security code put in (I do have the code), the insulation under the hood has a palm-sized tear, and there’s a small mark on the hood (about the size of your pinky finger).   Otherwise this ought to provide someone with a fantastic XJS to cruise with this spring.

Happy to answer any questions I can.  The car is currently garaged in Woodbridge, VA and can be inspected there. I live in Falls Church, and can bring the car up here to deliver it to the buyer. I’m happy to coordinate with your shipping company to pick it up.  The car comes with a clear VA title which reads "not actual" for mileage, which dates back to 1998 when it was purchased from Maryland which failed to report the Mmleage.  The odometer works fine, and the mileage is accurate. When registered in 1998, it had 57,280 miles on it, meaning this car has averaged just over 1,000 miles per year over the past 16 years - a nice easy life.

Land Rover knows where you're going and how you want to get there

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Land Rover makes some of the most capable SUVs on or off the road, and some of the most luxurious too. But the British automaker isn't about to rest on those laurels - not when every other automaker assaults its territory with sport-utes of their own. That's why Land Rover has been working so hard on nifty new technologies from a depth-sounder in the door mirror of the Range Rover Sport an augmented-reality head-up display that makes the whole front of the car virtually disappear.
JLR's newest tech may not be ground-breaking, but its integration promises to make driving around town that much easier. The system syncs with the driver's smartphone and uses all manner of parameters - including driver habits, weather and location as well as the presence of other passengers - to make the commute go as smoothly as possible. Get into the car and it'll set the seat and mirrors for you. No big deal, because lots of cars do that. But it'll also set up the nav system to take you to work and the sound system to play your favorite music. Okay, getting more interesting.
Get in with your kids and it'll know not only that you've got to drop them off at school first (or remind you to pack their gym bag if they've got soccer practice after school that day) but that they might not enjoy that Chumbawamba album you've been listening to since college and it'll play something it knows you'll all enjoy based on your listening history. Then it'll switch back to Tubthumping once the kids are out, remind you of your morning meeting and alert those you're scheduled to meet with if you get stuck in traffic while finding you a better route to get there, monitoring fuel levels all the while and telling you if you'll need to tank up before you reach your destination. It knows if you like calling your mother on the drive to work and will lower the air suspension to make it easier to hop out once you get there.

Jaguar F-Type Project 7 takes the D-Type to the 21st Century

Sat, 16 Aug 2014

One of the many big name debuts during the 2014 Monterey car week is this, the Jaguar F-Type Project 7, a stunning roadster inspired by Jaguar's legendary, finned D-Type sports car.
The Project 7 expands on the already appealing F-Type Convertible formula, further boosting the Jaguar Land Rover 5.0-liter, supercharged V8 to its most potent form yet - 575 horsepower - making this the most powerful production Jag in history. So equipped, the Project 7 is more cheetah than jaguar, roaring to 60 miles per hour in a rapid 3.8 seconds before reaching its electronically limited peak speed of 186 miles per hour.
Prices for the F-Type Project 7 start at $165,000, with customer deliveries slated begin in spring of 2015.

Top Gear caught filming Best of British near Buckingham Palace

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

YouTuber and car-fan extraordinaire Shmee probably had very little trouble tracking down the Top Gear film crew recently, as the group was putting together an episode that could accurately be described as "excessive." With its flag-waving (literally) Best of British theme, the TG guys gathered a jaw-dropping array of British cars, and parked them all right in front of Buckingham Palace to make extra sure that the point was driven home.
Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were outfitted with a trio of Jaguar F-Types festooned with gigantic Union Jacks, with which to survey the landscape of British motoring glory. In the video below, you'll see that this includes any number of Mini, Aston Martin, Lotus, McLaren, Land Rover, Bentley and Rolls-Royce models (just to name a few), as well as a healthy dose of weird stuff that most people would never guess at being built in the UK. The lawnmowers and military vehicles are especially cool.
