1987 Jaguar Xjs-c (cabriolet)- Nice But Not Running on 2040-cars
Kennebunkport, Maine, United States
.
Jag XJS- The cabriolet is an unusual design- half way from a coupe to a full convertible. The car has a top roll bar. Forward there are 2 targa panels. To the rear you can use either the removable top shell or can remove it and install a rear folding convertible top . I have that unit as well (see photo).I I have had car for 10 years and it was a great runner. Always maintained by Jag mechanics. Many upgrades over the years including new Hemmi shocks, front springs, top covering for hard shell and Targa panels, new radiator, Parellis, etc . The XJSC is a desirable limited edition-about only 2000 sold in USA. No time or garage to fix myself as we are downsizing . The car had been running well up to Aug this year when it would not continue running due to the distributor/jack shaft gearing problem . The local Garage (Neils Motors-Arundal) didnt want to open the engine to put in a new jack shaft- maybe beyond them. My normal Jag mechanic retired last year and I don't know who could do it in Maine. I could not get any Jag garage estimates to replace the jack shaft. I guess they just want to charge for whatever hours they spend. Other than the above the car is in great condition. The paint and chrome are excellent. The interior is good. Some starting rust spots at end of fender wheel wells were fixed a few years back with neutralizer and paint. Passenger door was repainted to correct a surface rust spot. No oil leaks. Last year the radiator header tank was overflowing and we then put in a new radiator. Car has surface rust starting at rear drivers panel under the fender (photo) Solutions-
If you're handy, this is your chance to own a great car. The car is in Kennebunkport Maine and can be seen on weekend. Pls call me at 978 407 8310 if you want to come up and I will give you the local directions. |

Jaguar XE hits the 'Ring wearing swirly camo
Wed, 21 May 2014Jaguar is happy to show off its new XE sedan on its social media sites, but when testing at the Nürburgring, it's a very different story. These spy shots show the new model in camouflage to make it much harder to discern, but there are still some intriguing details to pick out.
These photos give us a really good look at the XE's quirky rear end. The sedan has a super short trunk that almost fools you into thinking its a notchback, but the top edge of the trunk is clearly visible. It's a somewhat odd-looking design with the rear glass running underneath the roof's overhang to create an integrated spoiler. Despite the camo, the front end is the same as ever with a blunt edge and sharp headlights. Jag certainly isn't afraid to try something a little different compared to the XE's competitors, notably the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4.
Some technical details about the XE are already established. This 3 Series-fighter is slated to go on sale in foreign markets in 2015 and in the US in 2016. We know that it ride's on Jag's new aluminum platform that also underpins the C-X17 crossover concept, and power comes from a pair of 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines, available in petrol- or diesel-fueled configurations.
Mercedes-Benz EQC vs. Jaguar I-Pace vs. Tesla Model X: How they compare on paper
Tue, Sep 4 2018The Mercedes-Benz EQ line is officially alive and kicking, with the reveal of the EQC electric crossover. It joins a segment that, while still in its infancy, seems ready to take off. Mercedes lists as the EQC's competitors the Jaguar I-Pace, The Audi E-Tron Quattro and the BMW iX3. While we've seen all of these, at least in concept or pre-production form, only one — the Jag — has actually been launched in production form. We've seen a concept and subsequent spy shots of the iX3, and the Audi EV will get its official specs publicized later this month. One electric SUV Mercedes didn't specifically call out was the Tesla Model X. As such, we've decided to compare on paper the Mercedes-Benz EQC 400, the Jaguar I-Pace S and the Tesla Model X 75D: All three are dual-motor EVs, though the Tesla is the longest and tallest. The EQC has the most power, but it and the Model X's 4.9-second 0-60 times fall short of the I-Pace. It also has the lowest top speed and electric driving range. (Mercedes sent us an updated range figure, but it's using the generous and largely outdated NEDC cycle; we're still waiting on an EPA rating.) We'll be interested to see how much the Mercedes weighs. Mercedes hasn't divulged the price of the EQC yet, but we imagine it'll fall pretty near to the $70,000 mark. As for Audi, we'll revisit this comparison after those details are made available on September 17. If you're interested in some other EV comparisons, we have a couple others that we published to compare the I-Pace to premium Teslas, as well as against other less-expensive EVs. If you want to learn more about these EVs, and compare them with other cars, be sure to check out our Car Finder and comparison tools. Jaguar Land Rover building new R&D center for hybrids, EVs, autonomous cars
Wed, 25 Sep 2013The success of Jaguar Land Rover in recent years has largely been down to a resurgent product lineup, but a recent move into the research and development will see the British-based, Indian-owned brands take the fight to its German rivals more aggressively than ever before.
JLR is investing 50 million pounds ($80,345,000, as of this writing) in a joint R&D center in central England. The move will more than triple its staff dedicated to research, from 150 to 500, with Wolfgang Epple, JLR's Director of Research and Technology telling Automotive News Europe, "In order to play among the big animals in automotive and to be anchored in the mind of customers you have to have offered something unique, to be first in market. We want to be one of the key premier automotive manufacturers."
Jaguar Land Rover's 50-million-pound contribution represents more than half of the 94-million-pound tab, on the so-called National Automotive Innovation Campus. Based at Warwick University, Tata's European Technical Center, Warwick Manufacturing Group and the Higher Education Funding Council, an agency of the British government, are all chipping in for the facility.
