This is an excellent example of the Marque.  By 1986, a lot of the "twitchiness" associated with the XJS had been sorted out. The day I acquired her I immediately drove 250 miles at 75 MPH plus without a hitch. She has had better than average care from previous owners and I have taken care of the glitches she was developing do to age and use. Both her standard and european auto mechanics have given an "excellent" rating and there are no immediate needs including drive train and inboard rear brakes (a true pain in the differential). You may speak with them if you chose.

Her color is very rare in the market place and immediately sets her aside. She had a very good repaint at some point, but there are some blemishes. They added a full body stripe and body moldings which are not original, but do not detract from her appearance. The interior is original and was redyed; very well done. Carpets are worn, but in much better condition than you would except for her age. The wood trim is excellent save around the push buttons, there is some delamination there, but again, not needing immediate attention. All major systems function including the climate control and it will actually cycle thru cool to heat automatically. The only items which do not work are the passenger side mirror power button, the antenna, cruise and the fog lights. I am not repairing these as I do not use them. I had the cruise checked and the switch, vacuum solenoid and bellows are all functional. She has always started and run and I do not hesitate to take her out at will. Still has the tools and a starfish wheel spare.

She runs as a V12 should, effortlessly, quiet and when required, fast. I have easily taken her into triple digits with speed and torque to spare. Her ride is smooth, but with a firmness that is transferred through her suspension and steering, allowing you to relate to the road. Vintage XJS's are love affairs, a true passion which allows forgiveness of the oddities of English engineering. We are set apart from other classic car owners, driving a machine which truly evolved from the Gran Prix race circuit. It is a machine specifically designed to tame any road you may chose to challenge.  A car so dynamic in performance and unique in its stance that even today, she will turn heads simply sitting at the curb. I must profess, V12's are not for everybody. To have one is not ownership, it is a relationship, enter into it wisely.

Jaguar producing short film starring Damian Lewis from Homeland [w/video]

Fri, 30 Nov 2012

Jaguar is working up a short film to coincide with the US debut of the company's new F-Type. Desire will feature actor Damian Lewis in the lead role opposite Jordi Molla as the main villain in the story. The whole of the action will take place against the picturesque backdrop of the Chilean desert with filming starting early next month. According to Jaguar, the story will follow Lewis as he plays Clark, a man who delivers cars for living. Things get exciting when he crosses paths with a young woman played by Shannyn Sossamon.
With music by Lana Del Rey and some serious production value, Desire sounds keen to take its place among great automotive advertising short films like the BMW Driver series. Jaguar has released a quick teaser, which you can check out by heading over to the F-Type site. You may also take a peek at the full press release below for more information. Expect to see the film debut early next year.

Jaguar XKSS tipped to be next continuation model

Mon, Feb 9 2015

After the Jaguar F-Type Project Seven, Range Rover Sport SVR, and run of six continuation Lightweight E-Types, the Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations (SVO) division is plotting its next historic resurrection, and there's a chance it could be the Jaguar XKSS. That's the word from SVO head John Edwards to Dutch outlet Autovisie, but we need to emphasize the word "could," because the XKSS is one of about four finalists - a "major contender" - among a long list of 65 ideas for the Special Operations to devote itself to. Edwards said that SVO projects need to have some kind of story behind them, a qualification the XKSS doesn't lack. In the 1950s Jaguar raced the D-Type to three Le Mans wins among its list of victories, but retired as a factory team at the end of 1955. When Jaguar decided to turn 25 unused D-Type chassis' into road-going cars, the XKSS was created. The company built the 25, but a fire at the Browns Lane factory destroyed nine of them. It is those nine that will be in the continuation run, should the XKSS get the nod. Jaguar has already sold the six E-Type Lightweight models, each one for more a million pounds ($1.52M US). The XKSS could undoubtedly command even more, with its legendary roots; the 1956 model that Steve McQueen bought for $5,000 (and Jay Leno recently drove) is said to be worth thirty million. We have to think that even if the XKSS isn't chosen right now, it will certainly get the green light at some point. Jaguar F-Type Coupe unveiled with range-topping R model

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

This is the Jaguar F-Type Coupe, the long-awaited hardtop counterpart to the F-Type roadster we tested earlier this year. Besides adding a roof, it shuffles up the engine range that we saw on the Convertible model, and in two of three cases, it cuts the cost of entry rather quite nicely (a happy contradiction to earlier reports).
The big change is that the F-Type Coupe does away with the Convertible's V8S trim (although the 495-horsepower variant will still be available in the droptop), and adds an even more potent letter to the top of the range. The $99,000 F-Type R Coupe is the latest member of Jaguar's R Performance line, and despite being down a letter on the XFR-S and XKR-S, it features the same 5.0-liter, 550-hp supercharged V8. With all that power on tap, the F-Type R will sprint to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds (if it doesn't break into the 3s in independent testing, we'll be shocked) and on to a top speed of 186 miles per hour. If you need to get to freeway speeds quickly, the F-Type R will also go from 50 to 75 mph in just 2.4 seconds.
As the top tier model, the F-Type R is loaded down with performance-oriented tech. The suspension features adaptive dynamics that manage the car's body movements and adjust accordingly, while the suspension itself is 4.3-percent stiffer in front and 3.7-percent tighter in the back than the F-Type V8S Convertible. Drivers can dial up an even stiffer suspension setting in Dynamic Mode, which will also tweak the steering, the shift schedule of the eight-speed SportShift automatic and the throttle response of that brawny engine.
