1999 Jaguar Xj8 Sedan 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
This beautiful and timeless Jaguar XJ8 was built between Birmingham, UK and Coventry, UK for the interior trim. It's a two owner car that's been very well kept and serviced, it runs like new. It has a pale gold color exterior that I would describe as champagne, the off white leather interior makes the cabin feel bright and spacious. The body has no dings, dents or scratches. The paint is shiny and it's apparent that this cat spent most of its nights in a garage. The interior is clean and has no missing parts, scratches, tears or stains. It looks great and smells clean. The engine compartment is clean and shows no leaks or signs of wear. The drive train runs smoothly with no noises or fuss, the shifter has the Jaguar logo and shifts like new, no skips or slips on shifts - actually it does so smoothly that you can't feel it shifting. If I were to summarize, I would say that this car is clean and mechanically very sound.
As you can see in the pictures, the interior is clean while the seats show almost no wear. The leather along with the wood trim make the cabin a very special place to be. AC blows ice-cold and the heat blows hot. The passengers in the rear can also control and direct airflow. For the seating, there are 14 adjustable power controls including lumbar support for both driver and passenger seats and 3 memory settings so that different drivers can feel comfortably in the same car or for different sitting positions according to the driving environment you face - relaxed for highway cruising, or more hands on for a bit of sport driving. Also comes with speed sensing steering, which makes it easy to navigate through parking lots.
This car includes the PREMIUM surround system make your tunes come alive, with fully adjustable settings, and many predefined ones, such as Cathedral, Orchestra, Stadium and many others. Store up to 20 FM/AM presets for the radio. I'm straining to find a critical element to this Jag, the front driver seat shows some modest use but as you can see from the pictures it's nothing excessive. The car is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. We've had some weird weather and as you can see the pictures were taken in the rain. If you want pictures of something specific, let me know. This is a very beautiful and special car, one that whisks you away and never ceases to put a smile on your face. I hope it finds a good home with someone who will cherish it. Thanks for looking! |

542-HP Jaguar XJR to debut at New York Auto Show
Wed, 20 Mar 2013Jaguar has just announced that a higher-than-ever performance version of its XJ flagship will be coming to this year's New York Auto Show next week. Joining the company's R lineup is this XJR, which will boast a stonking 542 horsepower from its supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine.
Though details about the new XJ are pretty slim - you can read Jag's teaser of a press release - we are told that the car will ride on a "bespoke chassis" and that some aerodynamics work has been done, as well. The one sultry image we have of the car shows a set of trim-specific wheels, lower sills and unique badging on the front grille.
The new XJR would seem to slot above the current top-dog XJ, the XJ Supersport. With a bump up of 32 hp versus the Supersport, performance should get a meaningful shot in the arm, as well. As for pricing, we'll have to wait for the NYC show to be sure. But other Jaguar models show an increase of between 15- and 20-percent between the R model and the next one down; that would indicate a price tag in the $130k range for a standard wheelbase XJR is in order.
Jaguar working on 700-hp, 200-mph hybrid F-Type?
Sat, 22 Jun 2013After first driving the 2014 Jaguar F-Type in Spain this spring, we came away mighty impressed. Of course, if you had to pin us down for a top three wish list of what improvements we'd like to see, we'd probably hit you with something like: 1) Less weight. 2) Less weight and 3) Less weight. Oh, and if we're feeling presumptuous, maybe some additional transmission choices.
Despite leveraging aluminum for the body and chassis, this Jaguar is still a bit of a fat cat compared to its rival models from Porsche. We never felt like it was lacking for power in any of its three supercharged trims, least of them the 495-horsepower V8 S, which is a genuine madman. We knew the variants would come, though - a quick look at the rest of Jag's lineup provides all the evidence you need of that. And so we're not surprised to see word of a hyper-powered F-Type on the horizon, an R-S version. What is surprising, however, is a new report that put its motivation at over 700 horsepower and its top speed at 200+ mph. Us? We're just hoping the latter figure comes at least partially as a result of a hardcore diet.
This F-Type R-S news comes according to the rumormongers at AutoExpress, who expect the high-power Brit to come in coupe form, at least initially. We still haven't seen the debut of the fixed-head F, but plenty of spy shots suggest its arrival is imminent. Wildly, AE posits that Jag won't look for more displacement to gain power, it will instead radically downsize by using a 1.6-liter turbo- and supercharged four-cylinder and an array of electric motors. If that sounds familiar, that's because AE suggests the high-tech powertrain will be scavenged from the defunct C-X75 supercar program (interestingly, earlier reports suggested this combination would only deliver about 500 horsepower).
Jaguar Land Rover remains bullish on diesels
Wed, Sep 30 2015Despite Volkswagen's recent diesel scandal, Jaguar Land Rover is pushing ahead with ambitious plans to roll out the technology across most of its lineup in the coming years. Jaguar and Land Rover will add diesel engine variants to every model in their lineups, except for the Jaguar F-Type sports car. Land Rover launched the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport with available 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesels, and together they have sold more than 330 units so far in September, their first month on sale in the United States. JLA officials say they've seen no fallout from VW's emissions problem and are adamant their diesels meet EPA standards. "That has been our strategy, and it is not changing," Joe Eberhardt, Jaguar Land Rover North America CEO, told the Automotive Press Association on Wednesday in Detroit. "You have to deal with the situations as they arrive. We are confident of diesel." Jaguar will get another diesel next year from its Ingenium engine family, which will initially be sold in the XE sedan and the F-Pace crossover. It's a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit and makes 180 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. A JLR spokesman said the Ingenium has not yet gone through the EPA certification process, and the diesel-powered models will arrive in the fall. Jaguar also plans to add diesel engines to the flagship XJ and XF sedans. Land Rovers, including the Discovery and Evoque, will also get diesel options, and the company estimates the technology will offer 20- to 30-percent improvements in fuel economy, depending on the vehicle. Eberhardt said it is "too soon to tell" if the diesel market will be weighed down by Volkswagen's situation. The German automaker admitted to cheating on emissions tests to make its diesel-powered cars appear to run cleaner than they actually do in real-world situations. The ensuing outrage forced longtime VW chief executive Martin Winterkorn to step down and prompted a reorganization of the company, which faces legal and regulatory action around the world. Still, Eberhardt maintains JLR is "very confident" in its diesels, which are part of its strategy to grow sales around the world. Land Rover has experienced rapid growth under the ownership of Indian conglomerate, Tata Motors, while Jaguar is set to revitalize its lineup with new entries like the XE and F-Pace to reach a broader market segment.
