1988 JAGUAR XJ-6   EXTERIOR IS GRAY WITH BURGUNDY INTERIOR. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN MAY OF 2012.IT HAS 93421 MILES.SINCE I'VE HAD IT A YEAR I DON'T THINK I'VE PUT 1000 MILES ON IT.I'VE BEEN BUSY WITH WORK AND HAVE NOT HAD THE TIME TO ENJOY IT.FIRST OF ALL THE CAR STARTS RIGHT UP EVERYTIME ,THE ENGINE SOUNDS GREAT AND I DID HAVE THE OIL CHANGED WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE JAGUAR WAS STATE INSPECTED SO THE BRAKES ARE GOOD,TIRES,LIGHTS,ETC.AC BLOWS COLD .THE INTERIOR IS DESCENT ,THERE IS A TEAR ON THE BACKSEAT AND ONE ON THE DRIVERS SEAT (SEE PICTURES).HEADLINER IS IN GOOD SHAPE AND MAY NEED CLEANED.THIS CAR HAS SPOKE WHEELS AND THEY ARE IN GOOD CONDITION BUT THEY NEED DETAILED.THIS IS A SMOKE FREE VEHICLE.

HERE ARE SOME ISSUES : THERE ARE THREE COMPUTER MESSAGES THAT FLASH ON AFTER YOU START THE CAR, BULB FAILURE,FUELLING FAILURE AND BRAKE PAD LOW.WHEN I GOT THE CAR INSPECTED WE COULD NOT FIND ANY BULBS THAT WERE OUT AND ALL THE BRAKE PADS WERE IN GOOD SHAPE SO AGAIN I DON'T REALLY HAVE THE TIME TO DIG IN TO IT.AS FOR THE FUELLING FAILURE THIS MAY BE AN ISSUE.IT MAY NEED A FUEL PUMP OR FILTER ( WHICH I PURCHASED BUT DID NOT CHANGE.THIS CAR STARTS RIGHT UP BUT AFTER YOU RUN IT AND SHUT IT OFF YOU REALLY HAVE TO PRESS DOWN THE GAS PEDAL TO GET IT STARTED BUT IT WILL START AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT NOT STARTING.AS FOR THE BODY THERE IS A SCRAPE ON THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE (SEE PICTURE),ON THE HOOD THERE IS SOME MARKS BUT IT NOT THE CLEAR COAT COMING OFF JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES.THE DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE DOES NOT WORK ,I DO HAVE A COUPLE OF HANDLES TO FIX THE PROBLEM.THERE IS SOME RUST ON EACH OF THE FRONT FENDERS BEHIND THE WHEELS ,IT DOESN'T LOOK TO BAD BUT WILL NEED TO BE FIXED.

THE JAGUAR CLEANS UP NICE AND LOOKS GOOD BUT NEEDS A LITTLE TLC. THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY.

2017 Jaguar XE 20d Quick Spin

Mon, May 4 2015

Base models rarely get their due in the press. Big-engine, high-horsepower variants get all the headlines, but the junior version is what sells in volume. We're just as guilty here at Autoblog, with both a first and second drive of the Jaguar XE in supercharged V6 guise, and barely a mention of the entry-level, 2.0-liter diesel. So, in Perd Hapley style, the Jaguar XE diesel is the model of the Jaguar XE we're going to discuss. Yes, the volume model of the Jaguar XE is a diesel, at least for now. A turbocharged 2.0-liter gas engine, wearing the 25t badge, will arrive after the XE's early 2016 on-sale date. Oil-burners and volume are not a thing in the United States, except for heavy-duty pickup trucks. Despite that apparent contradiction, the XE 20d could find some converts. Driving Notes The biggest clue to the engine's fuel source is the tachometer, which only counts to 6,000. But you wouldn't know from the fast throttle response or the way revs climb when you mash the accelerator. All 180 peak horsepower come at 4,000 rpm, and the 317 pound-feet of torque are available from 1750 to 2500 rpm. Really, this engine is smooth. Credit the low 15.1:1 compression ratio, which also helps make the engine's aluminum construction possible. The surge of power from the turbo builds steadily instead of kicking in all at once. Jaguar's engineers focused on friction reduction with a fanatical devotion, all in the name of efficiency. One key feature is the offset crankshaft. That is, the crankshaft is located to the side of the cylinder centerline. This reduces the side load forces during the firing cycle. In the manual transmission the gears are cupped to reduce mass. A pump sprays oil directly on the cogs, which cuts back on the total amount of fluid and cuts back on friction loss due to windage. No, the manual transmission isn't coming to the US. And yes, it's really good. Not just in the cliche journalist love for the diesel-manual combo, but objectively good. That smooth responsive nature of the engine is amplified when you get to choose your own gears. So we make due with the eight-speed automatic, the 8HP45 version of the ubiquious ZF box. The coolest trick here is a pendulum-style damper in the torque converter instead of a typical spring damper. When the torque converter is locked up this cuts down on torsional vibration between the engine and transmission. And that enables low-rpm cruising and higher mpg.

Jaguar solution to keyless start could save lives

Mon, May 14 2018

UPDATED: An earlier version of this story indicated the Jaguar keyless start function was meant as a safety feature, when in fact, it is meant as a convenience one and will not work as described if automatic stop/start is not engaged. Today, The New York Times published an article about more than two dozen deaths related to drivers accidentally leaving their cars running, closing their garages and later succumbing to carbon monoxide that flooded their homes. The reason has been identified as "keyless start" features, or proximity entry and push-button start, where owners don't need to physically handle a key or fob to gain entry into the vehicle or start it. It is the latest, and deadliest, issue raised with this system after those related to security and simple inconvenience (for instance, leaving the car at a valet or car wash with the fob in your pocket). From my personal perspective, The New York Times had a rather harsh "evil carmakers" tone throughout the article. This is not a matter of a known faulty component, as with the GM ignition switch recall. This has as much to do with user error where people leave their car without pressing the "off" button and without noticing the engine is still running. About half of the cars in question are produced by Toyota and Lexus, brands that have offered keyless start longer than most. They are also brands with high rates of elderly owners, who seemingly made up a majority of reported deaths and injuries. One fire department in Florida even started a campaign alerting those in the area of the dangers of leaving your car running when it noticed a correlation between an increase in cars equipped with keyless start and calls related to carbon monoxide poisoning. I see several contributing issues at play, most of which go well beyond this particular issue. First is insufficient training of owners by dealers and/or owners not paying close enough attention during this training. Cars are complicated, but you should at least know how basic functions work. Second, woefully inadequate driver training in this country. Third, and with apologies to the AARP, insufficient testing of elderly drivers and/or insufficiently low standards for elderly drivers. If you don't know you have to shut the car off or cannot hear that an engine is running, perhaps you shouldn't be driving. Fourth, re-examining keyless start systems.

Jaguar F-Type meets America in first TV spots

Wed, 15 May 2013

With its new "Your Turn" global ad campaign, Jaguar has introduced its 2014 F-Type to the world of broadcast media. The effort takes aim at the monied 25-54 demographic, which makes sense of Jaguar recently shacking up with the 2013 Playboy Playmate of the Year Raquel Pomplun and San Francisco NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. You'll also be seeing the new roadster on ESPN's SportsCenter, late night ABC talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live, the USA Network show Covert Affairs, the Sundance Channel and theaters, magazines and everywhere digital. On top of all that, a social media campaign includes a contest called #MyTurnToJag that will reward four winners with a custom drive in the new convertible.
You'll find the first two spots below, along with a press release on the roaring red marketing onslaught headed your way.
