2003 Jaguar X-Type - All Wheel Drive - 3.0 V6 Engine

CarFax shows a 149,503 Miles One Owner Vehicle - No Accidents

New York State residents please know your restrictions when bidding on this vehicle.

Body is clean except for a dimple in the right front fender and the normal scratches on the bumpers of a 149 K mile vehicle.

Paint is real good and will shine up nicely with some wax.

Interior is also excellent with very little wear.

AC is ice cold.

All the windows and sunroof work.

Tires are very good and the brakes feel fine (we did not pull a wheel to check the brake lining).

The vehicle will not pass NY State inspection due to a Check Engine light being on.

After scanning the on-board computer, my scanner gave me no information except "go to your nearest Jaguar dealer".

My mechanic does not speak "Jaguar" so we did not rack or look at the car.

The light is probably on because of a skip-pause-slip in the transmission.

Bid with confidence because it has had this problem for months.

It was driven from Pennsylvania to Long Island, NY last week.

I drove it over 20 miles and at highway speeds. I have every confidence you can drive it anywhere.

Keep in mind, there are no guarantees or warranties.

The original owner told me he had the tranny rebuilt twice at significant expense.

The skip is intermittent and occurs when hot or cold.

It occurs mostly between first and second gear.

It's not as bad as it sounds and the car is very usable in it's present condition.

High gear is fine and the car cruises at highway speeds with no problem at all.

Because it will not pass NY State inspection ...

New York residents are unable to bid or buy unless they are a registered car dealer, registering/re-titling the vehicle out of state or are using it for “Parts Only”.

When a car is sold as “Parts Only’ or “Salvage” it must pass a NY State “Salvage Inspection”. This is done to keep rebuilt wrecks that are unsafe off the road – especially vehicles with frame damage or airbag deployment. My cars are rarely rebuildable wrecks and therefore will easily pass this strict inspection process when the problem that is advertised is corrected. There are about 10 to 15 NY State salvage inspection sites in NY State – 2 or 3 are on Long Island and there are a couple in NY City. Call me for further clarification.

As a registered NY State dealer I am unable to sell a car that won’t pass inspection to a NY State resident. Anyone else can bid and buy. Sorry, I don’t make the rules but as a used car dealer I must abide by them.

Any questions call 516-228-1016 and leave a message if I’m not in. Please don’t wait until the last day or last few hours to contact me. Please speak clearly.

I will pick you up at the train or bus station.

Winning bidder please leave a $300.00 non-refundable deposit in PayPal within 48 hours of the auction close. If I don't receive the deposit within the 48 hours I will re-list the car.

Please plan on picking this vehicle up within 15 days of the auction close unless you have made prior arrangements with me before bidding.

All vehicles that run and drive are driven at least 10 to 20 miles and usually 30 to 40 miles or more. I try to describe these vehicles to the best of my 38 years of experience. Our familiarity with these autos is limited to the miles we drive them. Please be aware of this when bidding.

As always, if the winning bidder is not happy after examination and road test, I will cancel the sale and refund $250.00 of your deposit.

Attention “Phantom/No-Show” bidders – I do not entertain any second place bids and always re-list the vehicle.

If your feedback is 1 or lower you must contact me prior to bidding. If you don’t contact me your bid will be cancelled and you will be blocked from further bidding.

Final sale price is what you pay! (New York residents must pay sales tax and inspection fee when applicable.) There are no extra hidden fees!!!

We will accept any and all trade-ins or will visit you to purchase any vehicle outright within a 50 mile radius of zip code 11554.

Good luck and thanks for looking!

U.S. issues new tariff threat, this time against British-built cars

Mon, Jan 27 2020

WASHINGTON — Britain is the United States' closest ally but their long friendship may be sorely tested as the two countries try to forge a new trade agreement after Britain's exit from the European Union. U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Saturday in London that he was optimistic that a bilateral deal with Britain could be reached as soon as this year. But Mnuchin gave up no ground after a second meeting with his UK counterpart, Sajid Javid. Javid has insisted that Britain will proceed with a unilateral digital services tax, despite a U.S. threat to levy retaliatory tariffs on British-made autos. Mnuchin told reporters after Saturday's meeting that such taxes would discriminate against big U.S. tech companies like Alphabet Inc's Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon. The UK Treasury declined to comment on the private meeting. The divide highlights the challenges ahead as the Trump administration seeks a new bilateral agreement with Britain, part of a broader push to rebalance relations with nearly all its major trading partners. The stakes are high — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has pegged the trade deal with United States as a way to ease the pain of breaking with Europe, Britain's largest trade partner. U.S. President Donald Trump, has promised a "massive" trade deal to support Brexit, the product of a populist movement similar to his "America First" agenda. The goodwill and special relationship the two countries have enjoyed for decades may not count for much, experts say. "Trump is not going to be doing Johnson any favors," said Amanda Sloat, a senior fellow with the Brookings Institution in Washington. "He's not going to give him a trade deal without major concessions." Even before the digital tax issue arose, the Trump administration threatened to tax foreign car imports, which could hit British-made Jaguar, Land Rover, Mini, and Honda Civic hatchback cars. Stiff U.S. trade demands include increased access for U.S. farm goods, concessions that will be difficult for Britain's entrenched natural food culture to swallow. The United States also wants Britain to change the way its National Health Service prices drugs and allow in more U.S. pharmaceuticals, which could prove politically unpopular for Johnson's government. Washington's demand that London block Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei Technologies Co Ltd for national security reasons could also cloud talks.

Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla store reboot, Jaguar "EV-Type" an electric F-Pace?

Thu, Aug 27 2015

The Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate (CHEAPR) program is creating demand for EVs. $1 million has been set aside for rebates ranging from $750 to $3,000 per car, depending on battery size (in addition to federal incentives). Dealers also get an incentive of $150 to $300 per vehicle to help motivate them to promote EVs. "This is the type of program that can be a win-win-win for the state, auto manufacturers, dealers and consumers," says Chevrolet dealer Leo Karl, who has seen a jump in demand for the Volt under the CHEAPR program. Karl expects the funds to run out as early as this fall. Read more at Automotive News. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is scheduled to go on sale in the US in May 2016. As Mitsubishi makes some changes, including plans to ditch its Normal, IL assembly plant, the company's future in the US is being called into question. The new date for the plug-in hybrid version of the Outlander comes after multiple delays. Mitsubishi also plans to offer a 2016 model of the i-MiEV despite slowing sales. The revamp includes informative interactive displays and a heavier emphasis on Tesla merchandise sales. The displays provide information about safety, Autopilot technology, the charging network, electric motors and other information to help familiarize customers with Tesla. The Tesla Design Collection - which includes luggage, apparel and other gear - also helps position Tesla as a luxury lifestyle brand, rather than just a mere automaker. Expect the stores to be continually updated over time. "Tesla is able to pivot in their stores the way they release new software," says Cadent Consulting Group's Ken Harris. "This is important to an emerging brand." Learn more from Bloomberg. Could Jaguar be planning an electric F-Pace called the EV-Type to compete with the Tesla Model X? Autocar is reporting that the upcoming SUV from Jaguar could spawn a whole family of vehicles, including an all-electric version. Jaguar has registered the trademark for the EV-Type name, and that vehicle would likely be built at the Magna Steyr factory in Graz, Austria. That would free up capacity to build the traditionally powered F-Pace in the UK. Read more at Green Car Reports, or at Autocar.

Jaguar launches new classic racing series

Fri, 14 Nov 2014

One-make racing series have become all the rage for customers who want to actually race their exotic sports cars (or competition-spec versions of them, anyway). Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and Aston Martin all offer such programs, and Porsche supports several. Now Jaguar is getting in on the action as well, but instead of turning one of its production models - we're looking at you, F-Type - into a spec racer, it's launching an historic racing series instead.
The 2015 Jaguar Heritage Challenge will be open to cars made by the Leaping Cat marque before 1966, including the C-Type, D-Type, E-Type and Mk I and MkII sedans. The series, which builds on the success of the previous Jaguar E-Type Challenge, will be administered by the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) based at Silverstone and will include four races in the UK and one in Europe, with the exact schedule still to be determined.
The program was announced at the launch of the Jaguar Heritage Driving Experience, where Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations director John Edwards was also named chairman of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, replacing former Jaguar managing director Mike O'Driscoll who chaired the organization for the past five years.
