1971 Jaguar Xke Fixed Head Coupe, Not 2+2, In Storage Many Years, Needs Tlc on 2040-cars

Year:1971 Mileage:47100
Location:

Fort Worth, Texas, United States

Fort Worth, Texas, United States

This is a 1971 Jaguar XKE Fixed Head Coupe. Not a 2+2 car. Not a V-12 car.
  • Six Cylinder 4.2 Liter engine (see 4.2 casting in the pics).
  • This car has a three SU carb set-up and smooth cam covers (not original, but very desirable).
  • Manual gearbox.
  • Air conditioning.
  • Wire Wheels.

***Please note that I have not had time to clean this car up for pictures. This car shows so much better than she looks in these pics.***

There is very little rust, if any, in the body. Floors are great. Spare tire well is very good. This car has been kept in indoor storage for many years. It has a NEW complete "original" bonnet from years ago that was never installed on the car. It has an extra monocoque front frame assembly with a clean VIN stamp that comes with the car that is worth at least $2000+ (complete-see pics). The car comes with a set of high performance exhaust headers. It also has a set of twin SU carbs that come with the car.

The interior is very complete and in very good shape. The only thing missing is the radio. The headliner is in good shape. The rear interior deck area and trim is in good shape. The dash is complete and in good shape. The door panels are in good shape. The seats appear to be good. I would recommend fresh dye on the seats and a new set of rugs.

I have done an inventory on the rest of the car and this is what I see that is missing:
  • Front bumpers
  • Rear Bumpers
  • Left tail light assembly
  • Front bumpers
  • Front headlamp assemblies(both)
  • Air cleaner
  • Radiator
  • Water pump assembly
  • Alternator
  • Distributor (cap and wires are there)
  • Exhaust manifolds
  • A/C Compressor (bracket is there)
  • Radio (center piece is there)
  • Spare wire wheel (complete jack assembly is there)

What this car needs is to have it serviced to get it running properly and fresh paint. This would make a very nice driver with less than 50,000 original miles.

Please look at the pictures closely. I have extra pics that detail the interior, the engine, and the body. I have found almost all of these parts thru a friend that is a Jaguar restorer and enthusiast and I can arrange for you to buy the parts from him directly to complete this car for yourself. I bought this car to restore and then my daily driver broke down and now I need to sell it. Please call me to discuss the car in detail at 817-715-6163. Thanks, Peter

50th Anniversary Porsche 911 vs. Jaguar F-Type Coupe is a battle of beauty, brawn

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

There can't really be a loser between the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R and the Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition. One might be better than the other, but if you're behind the wheel of either of them, you can't complain. In a new video, Motor Trend takes on the difficult task of determining which one of these European powerhouses is the best, not just in terms of raw performance, but also how they actually feel to drive.
The Porsche 911 is one of the perennial favorites of the motoring world. It just doesn't go away and always seems capable of challenging the top vehicles in its class. In this video, Motor Trend takes a look at the 50th Anniversary Edition model that celebrates that heritage while boosting power somewhat over the standard version.
The F-Type Coupe is an incredibly masculine car, MT describing it as "a British Corvette." The coupe's exterior lines are tautly stretched over its athletic body, and it's supercharged 5.0-liter V8 sounds like a demon's growl. Jaguar seems to have things right with its latest sports car.

2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT claws at the driving enthusiast in us

Wed, 27 Mar 2013

If you still find yourself coming up a few seconds short per lap in your Jaguar XKR-S, the British automaker has introduced the XKR-S GT - a cat specifically tuned for the racing circuit - at the New York Auto Show.
While Jaguar has left the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 unchanged (550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque), it has tuned and tweaked all the items that really make cars go quicker on the track (e.g. suspension, aerodynamics, contact patches, brakes). A once-over reveals upgraded go-fast goodies including a new ventilated hood, extended wheel arch spats, reworked front end with a bespoke front splitter and canards, a massive rear wing, height-adjustable adaptive dampers, active exhaust, carbon-ceramic brakes and sticky Pirelli Corsa tires. Try as we might, the driver in us can't find anything we not to like about this enthusiast-tuned coupe.
Of course all of the upgraded XK goodness doesn't come easy, or cheap. Jaguar will limit North American sales to just 30 units and price each at $174,000. Learn all the juicy details in the official press release below.

Automotive Grade Linux will be the backbone of your connected car

Fri, Jan 6 2017

Creating a backend for a secure, reliable, and expandable infotainment system is costly and time consuming. The Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization, has set out to promote and advance the Linux operating system in commercial products. Automotive Grade Linux, or AGL, is a group within the Foundation that seeks to apply a Linux backend to a number of automotive applications in a variety of vehicles from various suppliers and manufacturers. AGL's goal is to create a common, unifying framework that allows developers and manufacturers to easily implement applications across platforms. Currently, the focus is on infotainment systems, but AGL has plans for instrument clusters, heads-up displays, and eventually active safety software. At CES, a display from Panasonic showed a completely digital and customizable dashboard that allows information and apps to be moved from the gauge cluster to the infotainment screen and back, all through the use of gesture and touch controls. Although the organization has been around for five years, it's really only been in the past three that the group has been working hand in hand with automakers and suppliers. The first two OEMs to participate, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover, have since been joined by Mazda, Suzuki, Ford, and, as of this week, Daimler. The latter is important as until now most of AGL's partner's have been based in Japan or the US. Other partners include suppliers Denso, Renesas, Continental, Qualcomm, and Intel. AGL want's to supply roughly 80 percent of the backend, allowing partners to then finish and refine the Linux system for each individual application. Think of how the Android operating system is refined and customized for individual smartphones from Samsung, LG, and Motorola. While the final product looks different, developers can have an application that will work across all AGL systems. Because it is open source, anyone can use and develop for AGL. You can even go onto the group's website and download a copy right now. There is also a software development kit available that helps facilitate app creation on the platform. Vehicle development cycles take roughly five years, so there currently are no cars that run an AGL backbone available for consumers. AGL Executive Director Dan Cauchy says products should be hitting the market later this year, with even more coming in 2018. Right now, the industry is relatively fragmented when it comes to infotainment and related systems.
