ENGINE/TRANSMISSION
The engine was completely overhauled and rebuilt in 2004. It was done by Sun Automotive in Sausalito, California
known for their excellent work on Jaguars. At that time a new clutch was installed. It is a Corvette clutch which
is a popular and practical (better) thing to do with XKEs. Instead of using a Corvette throwout bearing, they
stayed with a Jaguar throwout bearing. It will last well over 100,000 miles as long as you never hold the clutch
pedal down at a stop. Clutch in, shift to neutral, clutch out. It's a Jaguar thing. Just like the small oil leak
from the engine and transmission-not bad, just enough to leave a spot on the floor. The transmission shifts solidly
and smoothly and there is no whine or noise.

BODY and PAINT
When it was repainted it back , the body was stripped naked. From the photographs (see photo), no rust
is evident nor is there any evidence of repairs. I went over the entire body with a cloth wrapped magnet and paint
gauge looking for signs of heavy Bondo and found none. The Regency Red paint is incredible for being 30+ years old.
There is no fading, no hazing, no checking, no cracking, and only one rock chip (see video). There's chipped paint
where the hood meets the body on the drivers's side near the wiper. My guess is the hood struck a tool that wasn't
removed when the hood was closed. The paint was done by Images in Cupertino, California who are known to specialize
in Jaguars. It is the perfect color for this Jaguar. The photos, while good, do not do this car justice. The color
gives the XKE an elegant, rich, and sophisticated appearance. It most certainly stands out above all the rest. I
would have the car ceramic coated- It would be spectacular. The doors, hatch, and bonnet all open and close without
effort. Both doors need to be adjusted so that rear edge fit flush the the body- about 3/16". Same with the top of
the window frames. All of the weatherstrip is intact and in beautiful shape.

CHROME
The chrome was completely re-done at the time of restoration and is it excellent shape today. There are no
scratches, no pits, no peeling, no clouding–it's perfect.

GLASS
There are no chips in the windshield. All the glass is scratch free with the exception of the roll up windows. The
passenger side has a half inch long faint scratch. The driver side has very light scratches as a result of the
window going up and down (see video).

WHEELS/TIRES/BRAKES
The wheels are Jaguar spoke and are true knock offs. Including the spare. They are 15" x 7". The chrome plating is
in excellent shape. The tires are Mitchelin X Raidials: P205/70R15. They have been on the car since the restoration
and they show no signs of cracking or bulging. However, because of their age, I would be leery about using them on
any kind of a trip. The brakes feel solid with no pull to one side. The rear rotors and pads were just recently
replaced- the front rotors and pads did not need replacing or service. The parking brake holds.

INTERIOR
The interior is a medium camel color which beautifully augments the Regency Red. It was redone following original
design with Conolly leather imported from England. None of the leather components have tears, abrasions, or stains
with only one small cut in the drivers door sill (see video). The leather is soft and pliable-another sign of how
well the XKE was maintained. The headliner is a woolen type of material and shows no sign of dirt, staining, or
burns. The sunvisors are made of the same material and are in the same shape as the headliner. They do not droop.
The rearview mirror holds position and is crystal clear. The rear luggage area appears to have never been used. The
drivers arm rest has fingernail scratches and the shifter housing’s leather is damaged (see video).

DASH/GAUGES
The dash is in good condition. There is a crack between the tachometer and speedometer. The gauges were rebuilt.
When the speedometer returned from restoration, it was set at approximately 12,500 miles. When it went to
restoration it read approximately 65,000 miles. It now reads 29,590. All of the switches work. The clock does not
work. The dashboard is in excellent condition.

DRIVEABILITY
The steering is tight, light, and crisp-there is no play. The XKE drives straight down the road and does not tend
to wander. It is a delight to drive. While driving, you know you're driving a classic-it's a wonderful feeling! You
get a lot of attention with waves, high-fives, and thumbs up everywhere you go. When ever you stop, be prepared to
answer a lot of questions about the car. This car is special even to the novice’s eye.

Included are Jaguar owners manual, Jaguar repair manual, the files containing all of the receipts, concoure judging
sheets, and info pertaining to his Dad's ownership. Three of the prestigious awards are also included along with a
car cover.

Lotus Esprit S1 gets wet and wild in 'Forza Horizon 4' James Bond trailer

Tue, Sep 18 2018

It only makes sense. When the official trailer for Forza Horizon 4 ( FH4) first debuted at E3, details showed the game is set in Britain. Those who were ahead of the curve might have recognized this as a foreshadowing of sorts. Celebrating the launch of FH4's XBOX One and Windows 10 demo on Sept. 12, Playground Games announced that the next version of the beloved racing simulator will launch with an available Best of Bond pack that includes many of James Bond's storied rides. As expected, the list is heavy on the Aston Martin, but there are plenty of other goodies, too. Included in the 10-car pack are the 1964 Aston Martin DB5, a 1969 Aston Martin DBS, a 1986 Aston Martin V8, a 2008 Aston Martin DBS, a 2015 Aston Martin DB10, a 1974 AMC Hornet X Hatchback, a 1977 Lotus Esprit S1, a 1981 Citroen 2CV6, a 1999 BMW Z8, and a 2010 Jaguar C-X75. If you can name every movie that all of these vehicles are from, pat yourself on the back and grab a martini. View 15 Photos Microsoft is rewarding those who are all-in on FH4. The Best of Bond pack will come with the Ultimate Edition of the game that is allowed an early play date, starting Sept. 28. For those who haven't fully committed, the Best of Bond pack will be available as an add-on for purchase when the game launches globally on Oct. 2. The action-packed trailer shows many of the vehicles transforming or busting out tricks they're known for from the films, including the Lotus emerging from the sea. Although players will not be able to drive any vehicles under water (that we know of), several of the gadgets will make it into the game and will be viewable during Forzavista mode. The '64 DB5 has many of its features, such as the bumper rams and revolving license plate, while the Lotus will have an available body kit, fins and all. The Bond pack also comes with a few features irrelevant to the cars, including two Bond outfits and six "quick chat" phrases that can be used during multiplayer. The pack adds to an already impressive catalogue of vehicles that includes more than 450 different rides. Available now to pre-order, the FH4 Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99, the Deluxe Edition is $79.99, while the base game is $59.99. For those who love Bond but don't own a gaming system, don't forget about the recently announced DB5 Lego kit.

Jaguar to finish building six remaining Lightweight E-Types

Thu, 15 May 2014

Back in February of 1963, Jaguar set about making a small run of lightweight E-Types. It recrafted the bodywork out of aluminum, shoehorned in a 3.8-liter straight-six with an aluminum block, stripped out the interior, removed the chrome trim and fitted lighter-weight side windows. The result was a 250-pound reduction in curb weight and a commensurate increase in performance, especially evident on the race track. The company originally set about building 18 examples, but only managed 12. The remaining six were allocated chassis numbers, but were never built. That is, until now.
Fifty years since the last of the original 12 lightweight E-Types were completed, Jaguar has announced that it is preparing to resume production and complete the final six examples. The company has assigned its top craftsmen to the job, who will build the half-dozen continuation Lightweights to the same exact specifications as the original dozen. Former sister-company and perennial arch-rival Aston Martin undertook a similar task (or at least authorized Zagato to do so) when it sanctioned four continuation examples of the original DB4 GT Zagato based on original chassis numbers in 1988, and another two based on original body shells and stock DB4 chassis in 1992.
Jaguar has not yet announced pricing and availability for the continuation Lightweights, but the first old-is-new example is set to debut this summer, whereupon Coventry will release further details. You can bet, though, that each one will be snapped up rather quick at just about any price the British automaker cares to put on them.

2013 Jaguar XF 2.0T

Fri, 10 May 2013

Jaguar is moving to modernize its XF engine lineup - once the exclusive territory of V8 mills - with a range including a turbo four, a supercharged six and supercharged V8s of various potencies. Personally, I'll miss the combination of this smooth looking and driving XF sedan, and the lazy power of the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter engine, even if the super six has earned some praise in other applications.
The truth is that the four, six, eight lineup for the XF makes a lot of sense, and this 2.0T version of the sedan is far better than I expected it to be. In fact, there's a legitimate argument to be made for it as the XF that works the best for the largest group of customers. Here's why:
