1969 Jaguar E-type Xke Coupe Survivor Ca Barn Find Family Owned At No Reserve on 2040-cars
Lakewood, California, United States
Was found buried in the garage, sitting since the year 1982. A True California "Barn Find" that has only spent 13 years on the road & hidden away for 3 decades in Los Angeles. Advertised for sale for the first time anywhere, A Original 1969 Jaguar E-Type XKE Coupe 2+2 California Survivor LISTED AT A 3 DAY AUCTION - SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER - NO RESERVE AUCTION Original owner purchased/lived in Orange County, California. It was passed down to the family in the 80's and it's been off road ever since. The original owner's family never had any intention for the Jaguar to leave there possession but investing into there home was a better priority. Remains all original in "Survivor" Condition down to the factory "Sable Brown" Paint with Beige interior. 4.2 Liter 6 Cylinder Automatic with Factory Air Condition. All numbers matching drivetrain with 81k actual miles. All stock with no modifications & never been taken apart for restoration. Nearly impossible to see a unrestored E-Type just sitting in someone's garage these days. Spent its entire life in Los Angeles making this a excellent example of a True California Black Plate car. Also, it has early documentation as in early Calif. registrations & owners manual. Floor pans / undercarriage / frame structure / spare wheel well / inner wells / battery box / bottoms of all doors / rockers / quarters & front hood nose have all been examined. & photograph. It is as solid as they come and most important, original panels. The front passenger side hood appears to had some damage decades ago and someone had it worked on. Up close it shows the underneath of the hood nor the frame structure took any damage. Opens and close just fine as wells as locks into place. The interior remains in factory condition. Never been reupholstered or taken apart, it's the original Beige interior. All stock gauges & steering wheel. The spare wheel & tool kit still in place. All the exterior / interior trimming are intact. The front windshield is cracked but the rest of the glass seems to be fine. The owner mention that the Jaguar was last running somewhere around 1991. Once it was moved out of the garage, it was taken over to "British Connection" in Bellflower, California. A well known British mechanic/restorer specializing in Classic British motor cars. The owner of the shop started the process of getting the Coupe to start. Had the top/bottoms of carbs taken off & soaked overnight. The fuel line was cleaned as well as the gas tank. We had a new fuel pump installed and added fresh gas. Assembled the carbs back on & the engine started right up. So as of right now, you can turn the key and it will idle while running. It will need brake work but does roll. Overall, it is a original unrestored 1969 E-Type California Coupe. Ready for a full restoration or keep it in the current survivor condition. ______________ Conclusion & Terms ___________________ I have set my auction at 3 Days With No Reserve, so please only serious bidding. Jaguar turns down offers to join V8 Supercars, questions AMG, Volvo participation
Thu, 27 Jun 2013Rumors have swirled in recent weeks that Jaguar may be the next manufacturer to join the V8 Supercars racing series, made popular in Australia but now well-known in other parts of the world as well. Sadly, Jag's participation is not to be. In fact, it would be "insane," according to Jaguar Land Rover Asia Pacific Managing Director David Blackhall, for it to accept either of the two offers it has received to bring Jaguar into V8 Supercars.
Not only is Jaguar not interested in entering V8 Supercars, says Blackhall, it also fails to understand the recent entries from AMG and Volvo. "I don't know what it does for AMG to get flogged by a V8 Commodore week after week, but it's their brand, their issue. And the same thing will happen to Volvo to be honest."
Judging by Blackhall's statements to motoring.com.au, after not-so-serious consideration, the automaker decided the monetary commitment it would take to compete for wins would be more than any potential exposure would be worth, despite the fact that Jaguar has a 5.0-liter V8 to go along with what would seem to be a tailor-made rear-wheel-drive chassis. For what it's worth, one offer would have had Jaguar putting its name across an engine made by someone else, an option that was flatly turned down.
Jaguar Heritage Driving Experience throws you the keys to the museum
Thu, 16 Oct 2014As automotive journalists, we get to drive a lot of really cool, high-performance vehicles. It really is the single best thing about this job. However, our access to vehicles is generally limited to the newest offerings on the market. That means, much like the general public, we don't really get access to vintage iron.
Jaguar is trying to rectify that issue for journalist and enthusiast alike, with a new program called the Heritage Driving Experience. It allows British enthusiasts to pop into the brand's Warwickshire testing site, drop anywhere from 100 to 300 pounds ($160 to $480) and go for a spin in some of the brand's most legendary offerings. That includes the more typical classics, like the Mark 2 saloon and the E-Type sports car, but you can also pay for access to stunners like the XK150, XKSS and the race-spec D-Type. In addition to the classics, most of the tests include time in their modern successors. So an hour with the Mark II can be split with time in an XFR-S, while the E-Type is complemented by its spiritual successor, the F-Type.
Most of the events are limited to 30 or 60-minute sessions, although the brand does offer a half-day and full-day event. The former, the Jaguar Le Mans Experience, includes time in the C-Type, D-Type, XKSS and F-Type R. The full-day Grace and Pace Pack, meanwhile, gives you access to nine vehicles, covering a huge gamut. That means time in the C-, D- and E-Type, XK150, Mark II, XKR-S GT and F-Type R, among others. Not surprisingly, prices aren't listed for the half- and full-day pack. Much like Jag's finest cars, if you have to ask, you probably can't afford them.
2016 Jaguar XF mule spied in Germany
Wed, 30 Oct 2013From our best guess, the Jaguar test mule shown in these spy shots could very well be our first glimpse at the next-generation Jaguar XF, due out around the 2016 model year. The current XF has been around for five years already (launched in 2008), and this mule is likely testing powertrain or chassis components for a new version of the midsize Jaguar sedan.
With what seems to be a stretched wheelbase and wider track, this is almost certainly not a mule for the 3 Series-fighting Jaguar XS. That being said, though, there is also the outside chance that this could be a mule for other future Jaguar Land Rover products including a production version of the Jaguar C-X17 crossover or the Jaguar-based Range Rover Grand Evoque. Only time will tell what these images truly foretell, but if nothing else, it proves that Jaguar is definitely staying busy these days.
