Wheelbase: 105” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pFnKnL-hvg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tL3jUYroDg&feature=youtu.be THE MODEL...When the new Jaguar E-type was first shown at the Geneva Auto Show in 1961, it was all the rage. With styling and performance taken directly from the legendary D-type, it set the mark for what a sports car should be. In its initial offering two body styles were marketed, a smart little roadster, or drop-head coupe, and a fixed head coupe, perfect for a happy couple or for a driver and navigator on a road-rally course. On a program of constant improvements, Jaguar introduced a number of upgrades to the E-type, such as the introduction of the 4.2 Liter engine as well as vast improvements for creature comforts. One complaint was that neither the roadster nor the fixed head coupe had much room for carrying anything extra like a suitcase, and if a third person wanted to join the party, there just wasn’t room. That was resolved in 1966 when the 2+2 coupe was unveiled. Featuring a body shell that was nine inches longer than the originals, there was now room for two more passengers, although a bit cramped, and more room for luggage or parcels accessible by a side-hinged rear door. This Particular CAR… This exquisite example of the 2+2 coupe captures all the beauty and speed of the original E-type concept, but with a bit of comfort and practicality added in. And face it, who else ever produced a “practical” sports car? I acquired this 2+2 from the previous owner who had the car in his possession for nearly 30 years, but due to physical limitations could only admire its beauty. Today its odometer is showing just under 90,500 miles, believed to be from new. This is the type of Jaguar collectors line-up and wait for. Treated to a re-spray in its original Regency Red, there were no issues with the body in ways of damage or rust, and it remains unmolested with modifications or alterations. When the gas tank trim was removed to extract the original fuel tank, the paint under the tank and surrounding areas was still show room fresh. NO RUST! With soft black leather on the bucket seats, which appears to be original, all of the stitching is in order, the dashboard is fitted with all the original instruments and best of all, this is an air-conditioned 2+2. One upgrade is the addition of a JVC stereo system which appears to have been professionally installed. Mechanically, this car is just simply beautiful. Recently treated to nearly $30,000 worth of maintenance work making it ready for the road, all of the brake parts were sent out and brass lined, both of the SU carburetors were completely gone through plated and had ethanol friendly gaskets installed, and the engine was highly detailed making this gem ready for the show field or to hit the road. The exhaust is stainless steel front to back. The fuel tank is new. There are receipts for all of the work. Since that work was completed, about 400 test miles have been put on the car during which no concerns about its performance or issues were reported. The transmission is tight and goes through the gears with ease. During the maintenance work, all engine numbers were inspected and found to be 100% matching. All of the glass appears to be original to the car and is clear. Chrome and bright work, including the wire wheels, look fresh and sparkle in the daylight. There is something special about the Jaguar E-types, and this is one of the most exciting examples we have seen in quite some time. This 2+2 is as close to original as one could hope for and fitted out just as you would want to order one today. About the Owner .... I have owned many cars over the years (and still do). As I continue to change my taste I have changed the cars in the collection. I own my own restoration shop, anything that I have done to the car or had done is top notch. My business is not sell cars for a living, I build cars to order for discriminating clientele. The car is in my name. The reason that I state this information is that I don't need to sell the car, nor was the car just thrown together to sell. This is not meant to be negative, I just don't want to waste anyone's time with low ball offers or the like. If you want to discuss the car, or send someone to look at the car, that is perfectly fine. I can be reached at 832 428 4281. Please ask for Jeff.

Jaguar planning additional models, engines
Fri, May 1 2015Jaguar is in the midst of a product offensive, rolling out the new XE and XF sedans while preparing the upcoming F-Pace crossover. But it's not about to sit on its leather-upholstered laurels. According to Motor Trend, the British automaker has a slew of projects in the cooker. For starters, there will reportedly be more versions of the flexible new Ingenium engine family. The lineup is being launched with gasoline and diesel four-cylinder engines, but is tipped to breed smaller three-cylinder versions as well to slot into a variety of Jaguar and Land Rover models. More intriguing, however, is the suggestion that Coventry is planning to replace its long-serving 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with a new straight six engine that could go turbocharged – which would make some sense out of the 35t moniker being worn by the supercharged XE. Of course Jaguar is going to need some new vehicles to slot those engines into, and MT suggests there are several possibilities under consideration (if not actual current development). The XE could breed wagon, coupe and convertible versions, as well as an SVR variant to take on the the BMW M4, Cadillac ATS-V et al. If the F-Pace proves a success, it could lead to larger and smaller crossovers in the future. The next XK is tipped to grow larger and go up-market. There, it would compete with the likes of the Bentley Continental GT, Rolls-Royce Wraith and Mercedes S-Class Coupe, while steering clear of the smaller F-Type. Related Video:
All-electric Jaguar XJ coming soon on platform shared with 'Road Rover'
Mon, Jun 24 2019We've been posting on the likelihood of electric Jaguars for a while now, especially the XJ leading the charge as a new EV flagship. Rumors at the beginning of 2018 predicted an XJ EV on our doorstep by the end of 2018, the 50th anniversary year of the XJ. By April this year, it was looking like the battery-powered XJ would use the I-Pace platform and make an appearance sometime in 2019. Now, Automotive News Europe reports that during Jaguar Land Rover's Investor's Day presentations, the automaker said it would debut a "large SUV and a large premium sedan" on its Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) suitable for EVs, hybrids and traditional ICE-powered cars. The sedan in question is the next-gen XJ. Nick Rogers, JLR's product engineering boss, said electric MLA vehicles will get 90.2-kWh batteries that return range of up to 400 kilometers (292 miles) on the European cycle. That would effectively be the same size battery as the I-Pace, which rides on its own one-off platform, and the same range; in the U.S., the I-Pace is rated at 234 miles. It's said the XJ's design, produced by former Jaguar design chief Ian Callum and his team, has already been cleared. It swaps the four-door body for a five-door, a la the Audi A7, and introduces a new design language for the car and the carmaker. Car and Driver says the new statement sedan aims to be "a cutting-edge alternative to the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class," and Autocar saying it will "remain Jaguar's flagship in preference to a large SUV, such as the rumored J-Pace." The point of introducing the EV first is to establish the car's technology and sporting credentials — hopefully before the Porsche Taycan and Audi E-Tron GT arrive. Eventually, an ICE version of the XJ powered by an Ingenium inline-six should come; that will welcome buyers not ready to make the all-EV switch, a necessary move in keeping with the XJ's competition for global sales with the S-Class and 7 Series. However, leaving room in the design for a conventional drivetrain will force compromises that the all-electric competition doesn't face. Production of the current XJ ends at the Castle Bromwich facility on July 5. The new sedan is slated to be "announced in the near future" and built at JLR's plant in Solihull, which assembles Land Rover products. The same MLA platform will support a road-focused Land Rover as a sibling to the XJ, dubbed the "Road Rover" internally.
2017 Jaguar F-Type slashes $3,600 off base model
Thu, Nov 12 2015It won't be quite such a drain on the checking account to hop into a Jaguar F-Type for the 2017 model year. The 2017 F-Type Coupe will start at $62,395 (after the $995 destination charge), which is $3,600 less than the 2016. Jag will also give the convertible a $2,700 price cut to begin at $66,395. Drivers won't really be giving up amenities with either of these. Both entry models will use the company's supercharged 3.0-liter V6 making 340 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission. They'll come with partially electric six-way adjustable seats and a fixed metal roof for the coupe. New standard features will include a valet mode, solar attenuating windshield glass, and the brand's EliteCare warranty with five-years/60,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance. The vehicles also still pack navigation and a surround sound stereo system. The 2017 F-Types will arrive at dealers in late spring 2016. The move to cut prices follows on Jag's decision in September to slash the cost of the XF 35t by over $5,200. The 2017 line-up of Jaguar sports cars will continue to consist of the F-TYPE, F-TYPE S and the range topping F-TYPE R. The addition of a new entry price level for 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE builds upon the pricing realignment strategy announced as part of The Next Generation of Jaguar for the 2016 model year in which an improved competitive value position was brought to market through a combination of new entry priced models, increased standard equipment and lower MSRPs that all help the brand target the heart of the luxury market.
