1967 Jaguar Xke Series 1 Convertible Covered Headlight 29,500 Original Miles on 2040-cars
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States
I purchased the car from an enthusiast with 29004 original miles that bought the car in July of 1972. This car had 26,624 original miles & had just been repainted in early 1972. Other than touch ups on miscellaneous chips & scratches; the paint is still the first re-spray from 1972. Therefore; paint is old & has checking, bubbles, & minor defects. I would not consider the paint show condition but rather a decent looking car from about ten feet away. There is some paint bubbling (swelling) on the rocker panel (see photo) but again this paint is from 1972. The floor pans are original with one 2" by 6" welded patch between the front edge of the drivers side foot well drop pan and the bottom of the firewall. Other than that, the trunk, main floors, and foot well drop pans are original (see photos). Please note the deck lid (lower trunk floor) drain holes are also original and functional.
Immediately after the new owner purchased this Jaguar he had a tune up, valve job, brake work, & clutch replacement documented by an original service ticket (dated 7-27-1972) showing the car vin# & mileage of 26624. Another service ticket dated 10-11-1996 for an oil change and complete brake job again shows the Vin# and original mileage of 28,627. There are other numerous sale tickets for filters, oil, brake fluid, exhaust, carburetor rebuilds, etc. from 1972 to present. This XKE has documented service & mileage history with the previous owners signed mileage affidavit. The owner had the seats recovered (maybe vinyl?) and the soft top replaced over 20 years ago but they are fully functional. My Jaguar runs & drives EXCELLENT showing great oil pressure at idle. All systems appear to be functional and I drove this car on several occasions. The steering wheel is original and the horn occasionally goes off in a hard left turn. The tires are original with tubes from 1972 but actually run well. An electric cooling fan has been added and it has never overheated while I have driven it.
This Jaquar XKE is an original white car, black interior, with all numbers matching the original VIN tag. The radio & speakers fit correctly but are not original. The general interior is original and in good serviceable condition including carpets, door panels, etc. The spare is included. The chrome is original and in good condition but again showing patina. There is no boot cover when the top is down.
Yes, I am sick about offering my car for sale as it will be unlikely to replace it but storage is a problem & I need to sell sometime in the near future. I have replaced the battery, clutch master & slave cylinder rebuild, and small misc. items. All buyers must have a PayPal account with good feedback. Buyers with bad feedback or low history need to contact me BEFORE bidding as I reserve the right to "kick" a suspect bidder. I reserve the right to end the auction early, however; my intention is to let it run the full duration. I have attempted to describe my Jaguar as comprehensively as possible but you must inspect the car or ask specific questions BEFORE the auction ends. You may also contact me at 319-721-4356 to discuss.

Jaguar Land Rover posts profitable quarter amidst big yearly losses
Mon, May 20 2019Jaguar has posted its first profit in quite some time, as the financial quarter ending on March 31 brought in a net income of $151.6 million. However, that is the light in the end of the tunnel, as full year results through March showed a $4.58 billion loss (GBP3.6 billion). The losses are again attributable to declining sales in China, with a whiff of the still-lingering Brexit process. While JLR's annual U.S. sales were up 8.1 percent, and U.K. sales improved by 8.4%, overall sales came down 5.8% to 578,915 vehicles. For April, Chinese sales nearly halved as they dropped by 46 percent. Earlier this year, JLR's woes caused its owner Tata Motors to post the biggest ever quarterly loss in Indian corporate history, at nearly $4 billion. JLR's CEO Ralf Speth stated that the company is "reducing complexity" and transforming its business by cost savings and cash flow improvements, citing the fourth-quarter profits as an example of the ongoing turnaround. Speth said JLR has already managed to deliver $1.59 billion (GBP1.25 billion) of efficiencies and savings. JLR says its turnaround program, dubbed Charge, will drive it to at least $3.18 billion (GBP2.5 billion) of investment, working capital and profit improvements by March 2020, and that it currently has $4.84 billion (GBP3.8 billion) of cash. Speth continued that JLR will "go forward as a transformed company that's leaner and fitter," and that the sustained investment in new products and technologies will drive future demand. There has been earlier speculation of Tata Motors selling JLR to the PSA Group, but as Autocar reports, Tata's financial chief again refuted these rumors. JLR also announced today that its CFO of 11 years, Ken Gregor is stepping down after 22 years with the company, and that he will be succeeded by JLR's Chief Transformation Officer, Adrian Mardell.
Jaguar F-Pace shows off its production pelt for first time
Fri, Feb 6 2015We're no strangers to the Jaguar F-Pace, having spotted the production mules for the aristocratic English brand's first crossover on a few different occasions. Today, though, we get not only our first time look at the car in production sheetmetal, but also confirmation that the production model won't stray far from the sexy C-X17 Concept. Riding atop the same aluminum platform that underpins the already acclaimed XE sedan, the F-Pace follows the example set by the Range Rover Evoque, offering up almost a chopped-top look, particularly near the rear, where the plunging roofline and high beltline meet. That said, similarities to products from sister company Land Rover look to be mere coincidences, as the sheetmetal being shown appears all Jag. There's a prominent, snout-like grille that's flanked by a pair of predatory, LED-accented headlights. In back, the small rear window crowns a pair of thin, wraparound taillights. Think XE, with small influences from the F-Type for these units. As for what hides underneath those muscular body panels, our spies are predicting the standard allotment of Jag goodness. That means a gas-powered 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter, supercharged V6, both borrowed from the XE/XF to start, before diesel and hybrid powertrains roll out. Naturally, all-wheel drive will be offered, although the F-Pace should also arrive sporting rear-wheel drive. And while we've got little to go on to believe it's happening, we're still hoping for an F-Pace R, complete with blown 5.0-liter V8. We suspect we'll be waiting on that one for awhile, though. You, though, don't have to wait to check out our spy snaps of the newest Jag in the litter. Check out our photos of the F-Pace, available up top.
More Jaguar F-Pace details revealed [w/video]
Thu, Aug 27 2015The Jaguar F-Pace will make its full debut on September 15 at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. But for folks like us that want every detail about the compact crossover ahead of time, Jaguar is continuing the ongoing tease. This time, the company puts the emphasis on the CUV's suspension development and includes a video to prove that it works. The F-Pace is promising to be quite a crisp handler with a double-wishbone layout for the front suspension and an integral link setup at the rear. Cornering is further enhanced by an all-wheel-drive system that features torque vectoring adapted from the F-Type. Stopping shouldn't be an issue either because the brakes are also based on the units from the sports car. In addition, the company is making the lofty promise that crossover's electric power-assisted power steering offers "greater feedback and control than hydraulic systems." Production of the crossover should get underway at the Solihull, UK, factory soon because the F-Pace hits the market in 2016. The powertrain range is expected to include the new Ingenium four-cylinder engine family and the brand's fantastic sounding, supercharged V6. All the details should be officially revealed in Frankfurt, though. Until then, give the F-Pace a listen in the clip below. This content is hosted by a third party.
