Muncie Imports & Classics is proud to offer for auction this very nice 1962 Jaguar E-Type OTS 3.8L. This is a late 62 and has the drop floorpans. The current owner has owned the car since the late 80’s. This is a number matching car. It is very well detailed and most everything is done in factory correct colors but has not been over finished to the point where it can't be driven. The owner was a JCNA member and participated frequently in local Jaguar club shows.

1)    The car underwent a restoration in the early 90’s. At that time several body panels were replaced including but not limited to a full door, a door skin and a brand new complete bonnet. It was then repainted red (was originally grey) and undercoated. The paint still looks good for a driver but isn’t perfect Concours show winning paint.

2)    The black interior was replaced at the same time it was repainted. It’s still in good condition but does show some minor wear. No rips or tears could be found. The top was also replaced with the interior and is a high quality stayfast cloth top by Bassett Jaguar. It’s still in fine condition.

3)    To our knowledge and the owner’s knowledge the engine has never been overhauled. It does leak oil from the usual spots but runs very well with no bad noises.

4)    The gearbox was replaced with a synchronized 4.2L gearbox but the owner still has the number matching original non-syncro Moss gearbox.

5)   In 2009 the car took a slight hit on the RH front headlamp area. We did the repair work here. The chrome headlamp ring was damaged and repaired and re-chromed. We also replaced the bonnet beading chrome strip on the RH side. The metal below and to the side of the headlamp was straightened, repainted and the paint blended.

6)  The owner doesn’t recall exactly when the tires were replaced but thinks they’re around 20 years old. Plan on new tires if you buy this.

7)  The radio does not work but is original for the car.

8)  Included is a full tool kit and original jack.

9)  The owner doesn’t remember ever replacing the clutch but it may have been before he bought the car.

10)  The battery was replaced 10/2011

11)  This car has been running silicone brake fluid since the mid 90’s.

12)  From our inspection of the car the front suspension control arm bushings need replaced.

13)  The brake master cylinder was replaced in 2007.

14)  Both sides rear wheel bearings were replaced in 2005.

15) All of the coolant hoses were replaced in 2002.

16)  The boot lid (trunk lid) hinge springs are worn out or broken. The boot lid won’t stay open by itself.

All in this is a very nice driving car and is ready for some summer fun right now. It has always enjoyed being stored in a heated garage and was only driven in nice weather. The owner has won several shows in the driven class. If you’re looking for a early E-Type that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg then this may be the car for you! Feel free to call either Chuck or Tom to see the car personally or test drive it. 800-462-4244

Jaguar Land Rover opens winter testing facility in Minnesota

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

As it begins the rollout of the all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ and XF models, Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that it has opened a new facility in northern Minnesota for winter testing. Located in International Falls, MN (on the US and Canadian border), the British automaker says it is one of the coldest locations in the Continental US. Jaguar's new Instinctive All Wheel Drive system was developed primarily to help sell more cars in the northern US, so it only makes sense to open a testing area in the US as well.
With temperatures that can drop to minus 55 degrees Fahrenheit, International Falls was chosen to mimic some of the worst weather a Jaguar or Land Rover will ever see. The grounds house testing chambers, various road surfaces and even a frozen lake. This new facility complements the hot-weather testing grounds in Phoenix, AZ.
The official press release is posted below.

Say goodbye to Jaguar's vestigial oval grille

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Jaguar has been on a campaign to replace any and all retro cues with modern ones. Just look at the current XJ and the one it replaced, or the XF and the S-Type that came before it and you'll know what we mean. The one remnant is the XK and its oval grille, in and of itself a throwback to Jags of old (which started to look more like a certain Star Wars alien in above-pictured XKR-S form). But don't expect it to hang around.
Newer Jaguars have been ditching the oval aperture for a more squared-off one, and the next XK will have to fall in line. But don't expect that to be the only change in store for the next-generation Jaguar coupe and convertible.
With the new F-Type now holding the more enthusiast-oriented ground, the next XK is expected to grow bigger, softer and more luxurious. That will likely mean a more commodious back seat as well, though that shouldn't be hard to do considering the lack of space in the back of the current model...

Jaguar design boss Callum reinterprets classic Mark 2 for himself [w/video]

Fri, 29 Aug 2014

As the man behind the styling of basically every Jaguar since the mid 2000s, two things should be known about Ian Callum - he's a big fan of the brand, and he can bloody well get whatever kind of Jag he wants.
His newest car, though, is not what you might expect. Rather than an F-Type or an XJ, Callum has gone old school, and commissioned a custom, resto-modded Jaguar Mark 2.
Designed by Callum and built by Classic Motor Cars in Shropshire, England, the Mark 2 was an 18-month project between the designer and the garage. The essentially new car draws its power from a 4.3-liter engine that's been pilfered and modified from an XK. It's mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
