Rare Xkr Victory Edition Convertible, 54k, 20" Bbs Factory Wheels on 2040-cars
Huntersville, North Carolina, United States
For sale is my 2006 Jaguar XKR Convertible. This car was ordered in the very rare Victory Edition Trim. Victory Edition cars were only available in 2006 and were available only on XK8/XKR cars. A total of only 1,050 Victory Edition XKs were built and of those built a very small amount were XKR convertibles. This particular XKR is finished in the original Satin Silver Metallic paint with black leather and white stitching on the interior. The carbon fiber dash was only available on the XKR Victory Edition cars. This car still has its original 2 piece, 20" BBS wheels. The wheels are in good shape with no curb rash or bends. The paint has a mirror finish still and the seats look like they're still new with zero evidence of side bolster wear. The convertible top functions as it should and shows little wear. The stitching and typical rub points on the top still look great as well. This Jaguar runs, drives, shifts, and brakes like it should. The interior is incredibly quiet inside considering it's a convertible. I have all books, Nav discs, both keys, and the tonneau cover(the storage bag is there as well). This car is complete and original just like it came when it was new and has been very well cared for. Has a clean CarFax and 2 owner history. It has been kept in the southeast all its life and looks like it has rarely seen rain. I'm happy to show this car anytime if you'd like to come see it and drive it. I'm open to offers but no trades. For any questions, please call Seth at 704-651-5349. Please leave a message. No texts. ** Due to a rash of non-paying/non-communicating ghost bidders lately, please contact me before bidding if you have little-to-no feedback or just joined Ebay recently. If you bid, especially near the end of the auction, and you have low/no feedback I will cancel your bid.** |

Bloodhound SSC makes its speed-ready debut in London
Fri, Sep 25 2015Bloodhound SSC, the 1,000-mph land speed record contender, broke cover this week in Canary Wharf, London, in the heart of the Docklands financial district. "This is the best of British engineering meets the best of British banking," quipped Philip Dunne, MP, minister of state for defense procurement, which has provided backing for the team in terms of Army and Royal Air Force personnel and equipment. The team announced that Bloodhound will do its first test runs in Newquay, Cornwall, next spring before traveling to Hakskeen Pan in northwest South Africa in the fall. There, on October 15, 2016, it will make its first attempt on the land speed record, which currently stands at 763.035 miles per hour. That speed was set by Thrust SSC in the Black Rock desert on October 15, 1997 by Bloodhound's driver, Andy Green. Nineteen years later to the day, Green will be shooting for a speed over 800 mph. Over 8,000 people will come to Canary Wharf to see this extraordinary jet- and rocket-powered car over the next couple of days. This is the first-ever viewing of the machine in assembled form. The right-hand side is fully dressed in desert spec, complete with forged aluminum wheels and aerodynamics. The left-hand side is in 'naked' Newquay test spec, with panels removed for easy access and the whole thing riding on rubber tires that can run on tarmac. First impressions are of a big yet muscular car simply crammed with engines, jets, and rockets. The most recognizable thing, apart from the seven fire extinguishers, is the Jaguar AJ133 5.0-liter V8, lifted from an F-Type, which will run the fuel pumps that deliver over 211 gallons of high-test peroxide over the rocket motor's 20-second burn time. The EJ200 Typhoon military jet engine occupies the top floor and provides nine tons of thrust, and underneath is the single Nammo rocket motor providing an additional four tons. "When we go for 1,000 mph, we'll need another two rocket motors," says Mark Chapman, Bloodhound's chief engineer. "That total additional eight tons of thrust is what we'll need to get from 800 to 1,000 mph." He explains that the rear of the car will have to be redesigned to accommodate the two additional rocket motors, and the suspension might have to be adapted with longitudinal rear spring units like the fronts. There are still unknowns in the project, such as the area of vacuum that will follow the car several meters behind.
Check out Harry Metcalfe's 1978 Jaguar XJ 5.3 V12 Coupe
Fri, Feb 6 2015Jaguar may have built its business producing luxury sedans, but it also made some superb coupes over the years, from the XK120 through the E-Type, XJS and XJ220 to today's F-Type. The automaker has largely steered clear of turning its four-door models into two-doors, but there was a time when it did exactly that. And Harry Metcalfe, former editor of the British car magazine Evo, just happens to have one in his garage. Based on the Series II XJ sedan, the XJ Coupe was long and elegant – something along the lines of what you might see today in the form of the Mercedes S-Class Coupe, but smaller and built the better part of four decades ago. With only around 10,000 of them made, the pillar-less XJ-C was much rarer than the more iconic E-Type, and even fewer of them packed the 5.3-liter fuel-injected V12 engine. That makes the former Evo editor's ride a rather scarce one indeed, and well worth checking out in his latest video clip.
Jaguar Land Rover to cut workforce by 2,000 in push toward electric future
Thu, Feb 18 2021Jaguar Land Rover said on Wednesday it would cut 2,000 jobs from its global salaried workforce, just days after announcing its luxury Jaguar brand will be entirely electric by 2025 and e-models of its entire lineup will be launched by 2030. "The full review of the Jaguar Land Rover organization is already under way," the company said in an emailed statement. "We anticipate a net reduction of around 2,000 people from our global salaried workforce in the next financial year," it said. However, it added that the organizational review did not impact hourly paid, manufacturing employees. JLR, owned by India's Tata Motors, said earlier that its Land Rover brand will launch six fully electric models over the next five years, with the first in 2024. Known for its iconic, high-performance E-Type model in the 1960s and 1970s, Jaguar faces the same challenges as many other carmakers as it transitions to electric vehicles while trying to retain the feeling and power of a luxury combustion engine model. Last month, Tata Motors said it was concerned by semiconductor shortages and Brexit-related supply disruptions as its luxury car sales recover, although the Indian automaker added these had not yet hit production. Tata Motors posted three straight quarters of losses as the COVID-19 crisis dented sales, exacerbating uncertainties over Britain's exit from the European Union, weak demand and rising costs, but had bounced back to clock a profit in its third quarter to the end of December. The 2,000 reduction in JLR's non-factory jobs was reported earlier on Wednesday by Sky News.
