Jaguar takes bite out of Mercedes' Magic Body Control chicken ad

We were quite impressed by Mercedes-Benz when it aired its Magic Body Control commercial, starring a group suitably funky chickens demonstrating their ability to jive to Diana Ross and the Supremes. Now, Jaguar has taken the opportunity to poke some fun at its German rival, releasing its own take on the Magic Body Control spot, and um, there's a big cat involved.
You'll really want to take a look at this video, which is just another sign that in terms of clever ads, Jaguar is doing quite well. We aren't sure if "Jaguar vs. Chicken" will make it onto TV any time soon, but it's still fun to see the British brand take the mickey out of Mercedes - it's rare to see automakers go after each other so bluntly in their marketing efforts. The day has finally come for the Jaguar I-Pace electric crossover to be revealed, and you can watch as the sheet is pulled off the company's first full EV. The reveal starts at 1:00 p.m. ET, and can be viewed in the embedded video above. The I-Pace was first revealed in concept form in Nov. 2016. Jaguar claimed it had a range of 220 miles, 400 horsepower, and 516 pound-feet of torque. Jaguar has also promised very fast charging at 100kW DC chargers. Apparently it can regain 80% of its charge in 45 minutes at such a charger. Jaguar has claimed this charging capability for the production model, but we have yet to see if the power and range numbers held up. Jaguar will also run a one-make I-Pace race series alongside Formula E. We'll see if any further announcements are made about the racing version of the car and the series. Related Video:

2014 Jaguar XJR unleashed just ahead of New York show [w/video]

Just a week after teasing us with the first image of the car, and mere hours before revealing it to the public at the New York Auto Show, Jaguar has pulled the wraps off of its 2014 XJR super sedan.
The British automaker has confirmed that the XJR will be kicking out a full 550-horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque from its supercharged 5.0-liter V8, affording the sedan a 0-60 mile per hour sprint of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 174 miles per hour. A ZF eight-speed automatic transmission will still allow for respectable fuel economy, as Jag estimates ratings of 15 miles per gallon city and 23 highway.
Newly tuned dampers and stiffer spring rates, along with an electronically controlled differential should ensure that the massive power of the engine isn't wasted in transition to the road. Jaguar has also tweaked steering software and hydraulics, with the goal of increased road feel, response and overall feedback. 20-inch signature wheels carry wide Pirelli rubber (265-section up front, 295 in back) to keep the XJR planted.
