2011 Jaguar XK-R
The old Jaguar XK often received a bad rap as the old man’s sports car, but the redesigned XK, with added chrome grills and hood louvres gives the new car a far more sinister look. The XK coupe now sports a perfectly executed rear with more Italian design cues than a reworked E-type.
Inside the 2011 XKR the changes are largely limited to the removal of the J-gate shifter in favour of the hockey-puck style “JaguarDrive selector,” improved leather trim and the general feel of British style, perfectly executed.
New for the 2010 model is the 5.0 liter V8, throwing out a stomping 510bhp and 461lb-ft of torque which propels the car to 60mph from rest in 4.6 seconds. But it’s the rolling acceleration that feels so fun. Rather than a traffic light drag race, the car is infinitely more pleasing to stomp on and blow away your competition when they aren’t expecting it. The joy of mid range torque! And around town will still return 15+ mpg.
The car offered is of 2011 vintage, and has covered just about 10,000 miles from new. In a very unusual and striking “Salsa” red colour, the sinister look of the Jag has been enhanced with black coated wheels, badges and grills. The car looks superb! Paintwork is about as-new, 20” option wheels are scuff free and shod with good tires with plenty of tread remaining. Behind the wheels are red painted brake calipers.
The caramel interior is also about as near perfect as you can get. Highlighted with charcoal stitching, and burr walnut, the interior feels like a pleasing place to be. Light and airy, with a luxurious feel.
This one local California owner car feels like new. Barely broken in with the mileage, it is presented in excellent condition throughout. Recently serviced to ready the car for sale, is testament to the car taken in maintaining and storing it. The reason for sale: a new addition to a growing family is on the way.
The engine is responsive, shifting perfectly through the 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifter. Brakes, suspension and steering all feel as taut as new, and all electrical systems work perfectly. The car is equipped with heated and cooled soft grain leather seats, a “smart key” for access and starting the car, fabulous B&W stereo system, iPod connectivity, bluetooth, Sirius, Bi-Xenon headlights and touchscreen Navigation. Total original cost: over $102,000.
The car is offered with all books and manuals, keys and service records, with a clean, clear title.

Stolen Jaguar E-Type reunited with owner after 46 years
Mon, 22 Sep 2014Barely six months into owning it, Ivan Schneider had his Jaguar E-Type stolen from outside of his Manhattan apartment in 1968. Now, 46 years later, the somewhat beat-up convertible has been recovered just before it was about to be shipped to a new owner in The Netherlands.
US Customs agents at the Port of Los Angeles found the car during a routine check, and they contacted Schneider to arrange returning it to him. When the feds found it, the E-Type was already in a shipping container ready to go to its new owner. The condition is hardly perfect today, including rough paint and a replacement door, but Schneider is ecstatic to get his classic back.
Understandably, the now 82-year-old never thought he would see his droptop Jaguar again. Schneider told the LA Times that he bought the E-Type for $5,000 after winning a case as a lawyer, and it was originally painted gray. Now, he plans to have to have the vintage convertible restored to its former glory in New York.
2015 Jaguar F-Type V6 S Coupe
Wed, 03 Sep 2014My first, ill-fated job in the auto world was at an exotic car dealer in metro Detroit. The job itself sucked, but the cars, they were exceptional. Amidst a sea of Tiptronic Porsche Boxsters, first-gen Mercedes-Benz SLKs and abused second-generation Range Rovers, there were some real gems.
In particular, I have fond memories of a trio of undrivable Jaguar E-Types. Two Series II coupes as well as a Series III convertible (that featured a mostly broken roof) spent the entirety of my brief tenure at the dealership in the back of the musty service garage. I'd make side trips through there just to see the trio of E-Types, which rarely failed to put a big, ridiculous grin on my face.
Since that time in the summer of 2005, there hasn't been a single Jag that's been capable of eliciting the same goofy smile. Not the XFR-S, with its un-aristocratic wing, nor the XKR-S. At the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, though, Jaguar introduced this F-Type Coupe. Sure, the droptop model had been around for a bit, but I thought it was the new coupe that most captured the E-Type's classic aesthetic, with a swooping roofline, those gorgeous rear haunches and a long, powerful hood. I had to drive one.
Jaguar Land Rover seeks to block U.S. imports of Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, VW SUVs
Fri, Nov 20 2020You wouldn’t know it was about Jags and Lambos, to judge by its rather dry name: In the Matter of Certain Vehicle Control Systems. But thatÂ’s the complaint Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Plc filed on Thursday to block U.S. imports of Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi and Volkswagen sport utility vehicles it says are using its patented Terrain Response technology without permission. Jaguar Land Rover, a British carmaker owned by IndiaÂ’s Tata Motors Ltd., said in its filing with the U.S. International Trade Commission that the technology helps negotiate a “broad range of surfaces” and is a key feature in JaguarÂ’s F-Pace and Land Rover Discovery vehicles. “JLR seeks to protect itself and its United States operations from companies that have injected infringing products into the U.S. market that incorporate, without any license from JLR, technology developed by JLR and protected by its patent,” JaguarÂ’s lawyer, Matthew Moore, said in the filing. Representatives of Volkswagen didnÂ’t immediately respond to emails seeking comment on the complaint. Jaguar wants to block imports of PorscheÂ’s Cayenne; LamborghiniÂ’s Urus; AudiÂ’s Q8, Q7, Q5, A6 Allroad and e-tron vehicles; and VWÂ’s Tiguan vehicles. It said there are plenty of other luxury midsize SUV and compact crossover vehicles to meet consumer demand if the SUVs are banned from the U.S. Still, the premium Porsche and Audi lines provide much of the profit VW is using to fund its investments in technology for electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles and further innovations. In addition to the four brands, Volkswagen Group owns other upscale nameplates, including Bentley and Bugatti. The International Trade Commission is an independent, quasi-judicial agency that investigates complaints of unfair trade practices, like patent infringement. It canÂ’t award damages but does have the power to block products from entering the U.S. Owners of patents and trade secrets like it because it can work faster than the federal district courts -- the typical investigation is completed in 15 to 18 months. But Jaguar also filed patent lawsuits against the companies in federal courts in Delaware and New Jersey, seeking cash compensation for the use of the technology. Those cases are likely to be put on hold once the trade commission launches its investigation. The case is In the Matter of Certain Vehicle Control Systems, 337-3508, U.S. International Trade Commission (Washington).
