2010 - Jaguar Xk on 2040-cars
Galveston, Texas, United States
I am selling my gorgeous 2010 Jaguar XK coupe because I unfortunately need to get something with four doors. The XK is very fun to drive and a day doesn't go by that I don't see people turning and watching it drive by. To say it gets people's attention is an understatement. The car has a beautiful porcelain exterior and caramel interior. It has a 385 hp 5.0L V8 DOHC 32V engine, which is a significant improvement over previous models. It has a six speed automatic transmission, leather heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, navigation system, Bluetooth, Bowers & Wilkins audio system, laser etched windows, and just about everything else you can think of. I have copied a list of the standard equipment for this model below. I purchased this car from Jaguar Hartford (Hartford, CT) in April 2013. (Please don't read anything into the short ownership, I'm just not at a point in my life where a coupe makes sense. And yes, I should have realized that a year ago). The car was part of the Jaguar Select Edition Certified Pre-Owned program. You can read the details on Jaguar's website, but in short to be considered for this program a car must pass "a rigorous inspection process with stringent standards for both mechanical and cosmetic condition." As part of the certification process, Jaguar Hartford ensured the car had a clean history and was up-to-date on its maintenance requirements. They also replaced anything that needed it, including all four tires (photo of one back and one front included), brake pads, and windshield wipers. Since I purchased the car, I have kept it in my garage and driven less than 7,500 miles. I had the battery replaced approximately one month ago. Because the car is a Jaguar Select CPO, it comes with a transferable Jaguar Select Certified Limited Warranty, which offers "up to 6-year/100,000-mile coverage without deductibles. Select Certified warranty coverage and roadside assistance start at the conclusion of the Jaguar New-Vehicle Limited Warranty, so you have continuous coverage. In addition, the Jaguar Select Certified Limited Warranty stays with the vehicle even if it is sold, so the second owner can enjoy the same benefits." Complete details are available on Jaguar's website. The car has a few minor issues. As you can see in the photos, the bottom right of the front bumper has a paint chip. The underlying paint is also white so it is not very noticeable, but the shades of white are different so you can see it. Also, three of the wheels have curb scratches. I included pictures of each of the wheels so that you can see the extent of the scratches. I have all of the manuals, navigation DVDs, and key fobs. $500 deposit required within 48 hours. Full payment via cash or cashier's check within 7 days. The car is currently financed. The buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup or shipping. Jaguar to sell all-electric cars by 2030, and six electric Land Rovers coming in next five years
Mon, Feb 15 2021Jaguar is making a big transition to become an electric-only car company. The switchover is meant to kickoff in 2025, and by 2030, Jaguar says 100% of its vehicle sales will be of electric models. Land Rover is taking a similar route, but to a lesser extent. The British off-roading brand says that it will introduce six pure electric variants in the next five years, with eyes on 60% of its sales being of electric models by 2030. Its first all-electric model will arrive in 2024, JLR said. An Automotive News report cites CEO Thierry Bollore, saying he expects "almost zero" production of cars with internal combustion engines by 2039, making that the theoretical end date of Land Rover vehicles with ICEs. JLR, owned by India's Tata Motors, said on Monday the Jaguar brand will lead the way with a fully-electric model range built on a brand-new electric platform. The Land Rover EVs are to be built on a separate electric vehicle architecture to provide for "two clear unique personalities." The Land Rover EVs are said to be finding homes on both the Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) and Electric Modular Architecture (EMA). Both support combustion engine layouts and full EV layouts, but the latter is said to be more biased toward EVs and to exclusively support "advanced electrified ICE." Both brands will be taking advantage of technology from within the Tata Group (JLR's owners) to make this transition happen. There's limited information on the future of certain models for the time being, but Jaguar did say that its previously-planned XJ replacement will no longer have a place in the brand's lineup. That said, Jaguar says the nameplate might stick around, with the assumption it could be used on an all-new future EV. Additionally, Automotive News reports that Jaguar will transition away from SUV-style vehicles, citing Bollore — the theory being that Land Rover takes over and completely fills that space in the future. We'll be wondering about what will become of the F-Pace and E-Pace. Our biggest Jaguar question concerns the F-Type, though. Will we get a fully electric version of the sports car in the future? Jaguar didn't address it, but we certainly hope so. JLR said that as it electrifies its model range, it will keep all three of its British plants open. But Bollore, who took over as chief executive in September, said the carmaker's Castle Bromwich plant in central England would focus on "non-production" activities in the long term.
Child cobalt miners: Automakers pledge ethical minerals sourcing for EVs
Wed, Nov 29 2017BERLIN - Leading carmakers including Volkswagen and Toyota pledged on Wednesday to uphold ethical and socially responsible standards in their purchases of minerals for an expected boom in electric vehicle production. Demand for minerals such as cobalt, graphite and lithium is forecast to soar in the coming years as governments crack down on vehicle pollution and carmakers step up their investments in electric models. To cover its plans for more than 80 new models by 2025, Volkswagen alone is looking for partners in China, Europe and North America to provide battery cells and related technology worth more than 50 billion euros ($59 billion). Talks with major cobalt producers, including Glencore, at VW's Wolfsburg headquarters last week ended without a deal. More than half of the world's cobalt comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country racked by political instability and legal opacity, and where child labor is used in mines. On Wednesday, a group of 10 leading passenger-car and truck manufacturers announced an initiative to jointly identify and address ethical, environmental, human and labor rights issues in raw materials sourcing. The partnership dubbed "Drive Sustainability" consists of VW, Toyota Motor Europe, Ford, Daimler, BMW, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo Cars and truckmakers Scania and Volvo. The alliance "will assess the risks posed by the top raw materials (such as mica, cobalt, rubber and leather) in the automotive sector," said Stefan Crets of the CSR Europe business network. "This will allow Drive Sustainability to identify the most impactful activities to pursue" to address issues within the supply chain.Reporting by Andreas Cremer.Related Video: Image Credit: Michael Robinson Chavez/The Washington Post via Getty Images Green BMW Ford Honda Jaguar Land Rover Mercedes-Benz Automakers Toyota Volkswagen Volvo Green Automakers Green Culture Electric Scania ethics mining
Jaguar testing facelifted XJ in UK
Mon, 11 Nov 2013Europe's flagship luxury sedans don't go through their lifecycles quite as quickly as other models need to, but with the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class hitting the road, Jaguar must feel it's time for a little update for its XJ sedan. And as these spy shots demonstrate, that's just what it has in store.
Falling firmly in the subtle-facelift category (as opposed to the full refresh), the placement of the camouflage on this new XJ appears to be hiding new fascias front and rear. Reshaped bumpers, trunk lid, grille and air apertures seem to be part of the impending facelift, but for better or worse, those black rear pillars seem to be staying put.
While Jaguar's at it, we can expect some updates to the cabin as well, with upgraded infotainment, ambient lighting and such. But don't go expecting anything radical at this stage. The XJ has been on the market for about four years, and it'll be another few before it demands a complete overhaul.
