I am selling my gorgeous 2010 Jaguar XK coupe because I unfortunately need to get something with four doors.  The XK is very fun to drive and a day doesn't go by that I don't see people turning and watching it drive by.  To say it gets people's attention is an understatement.

The car has a beautiful porcelain exterior and caramel interior.  It has a 385 hp 5.0L V8 DOHC 32V engine, which is a significant improvement over previous models.  It has a six speed automatic transmission, leather heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, navigation system, Bluetooth, Bowers & Wilkins audio system, laser etched windows, and just about everything else you can think of.  I have copied a list of the standard equipment for this model below.

I purchased this car from Jaguar Hartford (Hartford, CT) in April 2013.  (Please don't read anything into the short ownership, I'm just not at a point in my life where a coupe makes sense. And yes, I should have realized that a year ago).  The car was part of the Jaguar Select Edition Certified Pre-Owned program.  You can read the details on Jaguar's website, but in short to be considered for this program a car must pass "a rigorous inspection process with stringent standards for both mechanical and cosmetic condition."  As part of the certification process, Jaguar Hartford ensured the car had a clean history and was up-to-date on its maintenance requirements.  They also replaced anything that needed it, including all four tires (photo of one back and one front included), brake pads, and windshield wipers.  Since I purchased the car, I have kept it in my garage and driven less than 7,500 miles.  I had the battery replaced approximately one month ago.

Because the car is a Jaguar Select CPO, it comes with a transferable Jaguar Select Certified Limited Warranty, which offers "up to 6-year/100,000-mile coverage without deductibles.  Select Certified warranty coverage and roadside assistance start at the conclusion of the Jaguar New-Vehicle Limited Warranty, so you have continuous coverage.  In addition, the Jaguar Select Certified Limited Warranty stays with the vehicle even if it is sold, so the second owner can enjoy the same benefits."  Complete details are available on Jaguar's website.

The car has a few minor issues.  As you can see in the photos, the bottom right of the front bumper has a paint chip.  The underlying paint is also white so it is not very noticeable, but the shades of white are different so you can see it.  Also, three of the wheels have curb scratches.  I included pictures of each of the wheels so that you can see the extent of the scratches.

I have all of the manuals, navigation DVDs, and key fobs.  $500 deposit required within 48 hours.  Full payment via cash or cashier's check within 7 days.  The car is currently financed.  The buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup or shipping.

Jaguar J-Pace crossover spied with diesel hybrid power

Thu, Jun 9 2016

The new Jaguar F-Pace is only now hitting dealerships, but the British automaker is already testing a bigger, higher-end example. Allegedly named J-Pace – tying it to the flagship XJ sedan the same way the F-Pace is to the XF (so expect an E-Pace before too long) – Jaguar's engineers stretched the wheelbase and cobbled together a big CUV from an F-Pace's body parts. The biggest giveaway is on the rear door's cutline. A normal F-Pace's shut line runs right into the middle of the rear wheel arch. But on this mule, the door closes well forward of the arch. Outside the axles, Jag has stretched the front overhang – it's far more prominent with a completely different lower intake – and the super-short rear overhang reinforces the idea that we're seeing a longer platform. While we know the wheelbase is longer than the normal F-Pace, the platform underpinning this mule could go one of three ways. First, in what would probably be the most cost-effective route, Jaguar could simply stretch the chassis underpinning the F-Pace. Second, Jag could mine the Land Rover parts bin for a fullsize platform, perhaps from the Range Rover. It's not a crazy idea, and would open the J-Pace to a more potent line of powertrains – hello 5.0-liter, supercharged V8. Finally, the J-Pace could borrow its platform from the XJ sedan. One reason this mule could be riding on a Land Rover platform is because of its powertrain. According to the vehicle lookup on the British Ministry of Transport's website – see the final slide in our gallery above – the mule's number plates belong to a vehicle with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine and an electric motor, a diesel hybrid. The fullsize Range Rover is available in such a configuration outside the US, but it uses a 3.0-liter V6. Clearly, the J-Pace is still very early in its development process. That means we shouldn't count on seeing a production-ready vehicle for quite some time. Our spies point to a 2019 debut as a 2020 model. We'll just have to wait and see. Jaguar Land Rover develops 'transparent' A-pillar and ghost car [w/video]

Mon, Dec 15 2014

Jaguar and Land Rover are known for making highly covetable luxury, performance and off-road vehicles, but the British automakers are on a bit of a technology bent lately. Keen to show that it can not only keep up but lead the way when it comes to safety and convenience features, JLR has come out with two more systems to show the way forward. JLR's new 360 Virtual Urban Windscreen system, showcased on an XJ sedan, adopts two novel approaches to getting around town. First up is the Transparent Pillar system, which uses a combination of cameras and display screens embedded in the A, B and C-pillars to make them virtually disappear. Instead of acting as blind spots limiting the driver's visibility, the system uses the roof pillars to display what's going on around the car. If there's an obstacle hidden by the A-pillars, the system shows you the potential hazard as if the pillars weren't there, and brings the obstacle to the driver's attention. If the driver turns his or her head to see a vehicle passing alongside, it projects the vehicle on the inside of the B- or C-pillar. The second technology integrated in the next-generation head-up display is the Follow-Me Ghost Car Navigation system, which takes a page out of the video-game playbook by projecting a "ghost car" on the windscreen that the driver can then "follow" instead of listening to turn-by-turn directions or looking at a map in the dashboard display. The system is similar to what Jaguar recently showcased on an F-Type for track use, but applied for more practical use on city streets and highways. The release of these systems also follows the integrated smart navigation and infotainment system displayed on the Range Rover Sport and the Transparent Bonnet showcased on the Discovery Vision concept. Though these new technologies might not be quite ready for production applications, their impressive sum total goes to show that Jaguar Land Rover is ahead of the curve when it comes to reducing driver distraction and increasing the driver's visibility. Scope out the latest systems in the press release and video below for a closer look of what the future holds for British-style luxury motoring. This content is hosted by a third party. Harry bravely drives Jaguar XJ-S V12 1,000 miles to Monaco

Thu, Jul 30 2015

There are a great many cars we'd like to take on a transcontinental journey – especially across Europe. And a good portion of them would probably be grand tourers with twelve-cylinder engines. We're just not sure we'd be as brave as Harry Metcalfe, who drove his 1980 Jaguar XJ-S V12 from his home in the UK all the way down to Monaco. Don't get us wrong, the XJ-S looks like a rather comfortable ride, and with the V12 is surely both smooth and powerful. It's just that Jags didn't have the best reputation for reliability back then, and we'd have been at least a little worried that we wouldn't make it all the way across France on this trip. Nor are we sure we would have wanted to without air conditioning. The model in question, as you'll find out if you watch the video, is an early 1980 example, produced just before Jaguar updated the line with the High-Efficiency versions. As such, it's got a bit more power and shorter gearing than later models. The XJS (as it would later be labeled) would undergo a number of updates over the following years, and would stay on the market until 1996 when the XK came along to relieve it. By Harry's reckoning, his early XJ-S was every bit as good as the Porsche 928 and other front-engined GTs of the era, and would have been more fondly remembered if it hadn't had to live in the shadow of the E-Type that came before. You'll want to watch the 17-minute video of the journey, undertaken for a cover story to appear in the September issue of Octane, to see for yourself. Related Video:
