Nothing is perfect, but this car is about as close as you could expect for a used.  It looks practically perfect, it drives practically perfectly, and everything works.  The factory chrome wheels had some rust spots, so I just installed $5,000 worth of brand new chrome wheels and Dunlop SP Sport MAXX TT tires - they have less than 1,000 miles on them.  I drive the car to work daily, so the mileage will change from the listing accordingly, but the round trip is only 16 miles, so it's not mounting up quickly.  The car is located in Brunswick Georgia, and can be seen and driven at just about any time.

This car is equipped with the Luxury package, which includes a full leather-covered dash (which you'll see in the photos I've protected with a dash mat), and 16-way adjustable seats on both the driver and passenger sides, as well as the upgraded "surround sound" stereo system.  You can't find a more comfortable, custom-fitting seat in an automobile at any price.

It's difficult to appreciate from the photos, but this car has a metal flake paint that makes the dark blue come alive like deep water, and the finish is outstanding.

I am the second owner, and have had the car 18 months.  I'm only selling because I'm retiring within 2-3 years, and while I thought this would be a fun retirement toy, I now am too afraid of the economy to keep such an expensive toy - got to downgrade to something cheap and practical.  The first owner was a lady who receives a new car from her grandfather's trust every 5 years.  She put 42,000 miles on it in 5 years, and it was pampered by the dealer.  I have had to do nothing to the car but replace the front brakes, and I do keep it garaged and serviced.

Disclosure:  several months ago, a fellow backed into me.  There was very light damage to the fender and door.  There was no body putty/panel repair work done.  The fender, vent opening, side light, and door shell were purchased new from Jaguar and replaced.  The body shop did an excellent job:  they blended in the bumper, hood and rear quarter panel, and pulled off both front and rear bumpers so the new paint would go completely around front and rear edges of the parts being painted, leaving no masking lines or weak points for fading or peeling to start.  If you come see the car, I'll challenge you to find any indication that will reveal to you which side was damaged.

There is a loan on the car, so you or your lender will need to work out the details of money/title exchange with my credit union.

NOTE:  Please don't be put off by negative feedback on another car I sold on ebay a few months ago.  That was a car that had been wrecked and rebuilt, sold with a "rebuilt" title, clearly disclosed as such, with everything described that I knew about the car's damage and restoration, and the caveat:  this car is being sold as-is, where-is, so please come and inspect it before bidding.  The fellow who eventually bought it bid without inspecting the car.  I sent him an email and said that I would prefer he come inspect it, because I didn't want any misunderstandings.  He said at the price offered, with the photos included, and my description, he was satisfied to buy without inspection.  So of course, after he bought the car and had it shipped to him, he began to nag me about "things wrong with the car that you didn't disclose."  I knew this was bogus, because he claimed several things such as, the car not only needed a front-end alignment, but the shop where he took it told him that "it couldn't be aligned."  I sent him a copy of the receipt where the car had been aligned at a local new car dealership only two weeks prior to the sale, including the sheet showing the in-spec results of the alignment.  He claimed the convertible top wouldn't work, so I sent him a copy of the receipt where I had taken the car to the Lexus dealer in Jacksonville only 3 weeks prior to the sale, where (all clearly shown on the invoice), I asked for a diagnosis, for "convertible top operates by does not always close and latch securely," and the report was, "right rear top position switch adjusted, top now operates properly."  I could go on.  While this is a much different automobile that has never been damaged (other than the minor dent I described above), and it has a clear title - STILL - TO PROTECT BOTH YOURSELF AND ME - please come inspect and drive the car.  I will be perfectly happy to go with you to take the car to any shop or dealer you want to perform a complete inspection.

Jaguar Classic heading to Le Mans with vintage racers

Wed, Feb 3 2016

A grid full of vintage Jaguars will rumble into France in July to race in the Jaguar Classic Challenge during the Le Mans Classic. The event should give motorsport fans plenty to watch with a bevy of pre-1966 Jags on the famous circuit, including E-Types, XKs, C-Types, D-Types, and even the company's sedans. Jaguar launched the vintage racing series last year to build on the success of the popular E-type Challenge. It continues with a five-event calendar this season but swaps out a meeting at Brands Hatch to go to Le Mans – hard to argue with that change. The drivers also get to lap Donington Park, Silverstone, the Nurburgring, and Oulton Park. Le Mans is practically a home track for these classic Jags. The British automaker dominated the 24-hour race there in the 1950s, including overall victories in '51, '53, '55, '56, and '57. "Watching a diverse array of pre-1966 Jaguars racing on the iconic circuit, some of which even raced there in period, will surely be a sight not to be missed," Tim Hannig, Jaguar Land Rover Classic Director, said in the season announcement. Again, we find it hard to argue with that sentiment. The Le Mans Classic will be one of the major highlights of the forthcoming season that will see a diverse field of pre-1966 Jaguars going wheel-to-wheel in the competitive single-marque series. Jaguar has a long and successful history at Le Mans, with the marque first winning there back in 1951 with Peter Walker and Peter Whitehead driving the C-type - affectionately known as XKC 003. A one-two finish followed this in 1953 with the duo of Tony Rolt and Duncan Hamilton taking overall honours. Jaguar dominated Le Mans for three consecutive years in 1955, 1956 and 1957 in the D-type.

Can a Jaguar XKR-S be drifted while blindfolded?

Thu, 27 Dec 2012

Bring together a 550-horsepower Jaguar XKR-S and a rain-soaked skidpad, and it's almost impossible to not end up in a sideways drift... accidental or on purpose. With that in mind, the gang over at Autocar got a hold of the monstrous XKR-S for the latest installment of "Will it Drift?," only they raised the stakes a little by attempting the feat with a blindfolded driver
We've driven the XKR-S a number of times here at Autoblog (including a First Drive, Review and Quick Spin), so we weren't at all surprised to learn that blind drifting in the car is possible. But what is remarkable is the ease at which it happened. This, of course, can be credited as much to the car as to the driver, Steve Sutcliffe. Check out the impressive video for yourself, which is posted after the jump.

Jaguar creates custom Greatest Hits XJ for Iron Maiden drummer

Tue, Mar 6 2018

Manufacturers like Alfa Romeo and Toyota are trotting out Nurburgring-themed special editions like NRING and GRMN, but for Jaguar, it's all about the NWOBHM. That's New Wave of British Heavy Metal, for those who do not start their day with some '80s hair metal turned up to 11. Jaguar is celebrating the venerable XJ sedan's 50 th anniversary this year, and as part of that, the Jaguar Classic Works department in Coventry, England, has built Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain's perfect Series III XJ. The custom car, nicknamed "Greatest Hits," is the product of over 3,500 work hours and 4,000 redone parts. The Series III is, for some, the ultimate development of the first XJ body style, and McBrain's car is his third Series III. It's in most respects a restomod, as the front and rear bumpers, headlights, wheels, infotainment and other details have been modernized; the interior features rock-inspired custom touches like the guitar amplifier-style rotary knobs on the dashboard. The speakers of the 1,100-watt audio system are from the 2012 model year Jaguar XF, as those are what McBrain prefers. The steering wheel logo is a combination of the Iron Maiden mascot, "Eddie," and the Jaguar "Growler" logo. The Jaguar leaper mascot on the hood is from McBrain's first Jaguar XJ6; the paint is a special deep purple, and the interior has been retrimmed with Pimento red leather. But it's not just the appearance of the "Greatest Hits" XJ that has been massaged, as the 4.2-liter straight six of the 1984 XJ6 has been upgraded with three E-type SU carburetors. It also has a custom exhaust with quad tailpipes. There have been nine XJ series so far, and the 10th version is expected to arrive sometime next year. There are persistent rumors that it might eschew internal combustion completely, facing a reinvention as an electric sedan instead.
