Lots of pictures below description. 1998 XK8 This beautiful example is the perfect color for an English sports car: British Racing Green with Cashmere interior. This car gets lots of looks and thumbs-ups when it drives by. The body is excellent, and the paint is brilliant. The bolster on the driver’s seat shows some wear, but the rest of the interior is very good. The tan top is in good condition. The wheels are in very good condition. The engine runs strong, and the transmission is very smooth. It drives great with no weird noises or surprising behavior. The power convertible top works well. It’s very comfortable with the top up or down. A perfect sports car for every day use. The previous owner just spent $2300 replacing most gaskets and hoses including the lower radiator and heater hoses. An inspection at this time showed that the engine already has metal timing chain tensioners. The coolant reservoir and sensor were replaced this year ($260) as was the battery ($140). Nexen tires were installed last July and have been driven about 6000 miles. The cup holder is jammed shut, and since the cupholders on these cars are pretty worthless, I haven't done anything about it. It comes with 2 keys and one remote. No manuals, but I can show you where to download them online for free. If you have any questions please submit them through ebay or call me at the number below. Jaguar wants to make real-life driving just like a video game
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Jaguar Land Rover is on a bit of a tech bent today. It's announced its new family of four-cylinder engines and a "self-learning" vehicle Range Rover prototype, and now it's announced what it calls the Jaguar Virtual Windscreen.
The technology is similar to other head-up displays and telematics recorders already on the market, the Jaguar Virtual Windscreen concept takes things to the next level to turn real-life driving into a video game-like experience. It's being demonstrated with data like lap times, grid positions, virtual racing line and brake guidance... even "ghost" cars from previous laps and virtual cones for simulated autocrossing. Just like you'd find in the latest version of Forza or Gran Turismo, but you know... in an actual car - in this case a Jaguar F-Type. It's similar to the Transparent Bonnet system Land Rover revealed a couple of months ago, but instead of rock-crawling, it's for the race track.
The system also incorporates gesture controls and could be configured to display instrument data, a video feed from a rear-view camera to replace the mirror. Check out the details and the video below for a closer look at what JLR has got in store for the near future.
Jaguar XFR-S pitted against Mercedes E63 AMG
Wed, 21 Aug 2013It was Steve Sutcliffe at Autocar who got the tough job of comparing the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG to the limited edition Jaguar XFR-S on the track and sheep-strewn British B-roads. In UK spec both Mephistophelean sedans wrangle the same 542 horsepower, but step out of the corral and things look to weigh heavily in the Mercedes' favor: it has more torque, it's lighter, it's quicker from 0-to-60 and it's less expensive.
But that's on paper. Sutcliffe was given the job to see what effect all those letters and numbers had on the real-world driving experience. One of them is "an absolute hoot at the track" with great steering and weight management, one is "magnificent." To find out which is which, watch the video below.
