Jaguar continues to think well outside of the box when it comes to marketing it's new F-Type, now furthering plans for a short film which highlights the sexy roadster. Desire, featuring Damian Lewis (star of the hit series Homeland), Jordi Mollà (unforgettable in Bad Boys II) and Shannyn Sossamon (that girl you had a crush on for like a month in 2002 after you rented A Knight's Tale), Jaguar is clearly pulling out all the stops for this one. Well, nearly all the stops anyway ­- the "Ridley Scott Associates" billing isn't quite the same has having the man himself, if we're splitting hairs.
The short video below is still just a trailer for Desire - the full film will make its debut sometime in April, we're told. The sketched out plotlines tell us that Lewis' character Clark, "...delivers cars for a living, running into trouble after a chance encounter with a mysterious, young woman (Sossamon) in the middle of a lawless desert." The car looks good, at any rate.
Call us crazy, but the Desire trailer feels an awful lot like a spoof on the cool-but-overly-serious short films that BMW has done in this vein, already. Maybe we're just being cynical? Tell us what you think in comments after watching the clip.

$4.5M Maryland mansion has a brick street with classic cars in its basement

At one extremely large residence in Potomac, Maryland, the residents need not call the driver to head into town. Instead, the people who lived and will live in this house can simply take a walk downstairs to hit up the post office, or the theater, or the massage parlor. These faux shops are just a small part of a re-created old-style downtown strip, complete with a brick drive and classic collector cars.  Brought to light by Twitter user @victoriaxxviii, 11610 Highland Farm Road, Potomac, Maryland, is a 12,089-square-foot gated mansion that sits on four acres, with the opportunity to buy two more next to it. It has seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms in the main house, a guest house with two bedrooms and a bathroom, and a pool house with a full kitchen and a bathroom. The place also has a heated pool and a tennis court. Yet, none of that would be of interest if not for the items hidden in the home's finished basement.  Best understood by seeing the photos above, the lower level of the house was built to resemble an old town. In addition to the aforementioned stores, it also has a sports shop, a flower shop, an inn, a tattoo parlor, a church, and most important, an auto repair shop and gas station. The repair shop is key, as there are several collectible cars positioned throughout the winding town road. Seen in the photos are a Citroen 2CV, a Jaguar E-Type roadster, a scooter, and a third vintage car that appears to be from the '20s or '30s.  The house was built in 1987 and features four garage spots. It is currently listed for $4.5 million, but it is unclear if the downstairs cars are included in the purchase. Jaguar's latest beast is the 2018 XJR575

Hot off the rear wheels of the insanely quick XE SV Project 8, Jaguar is back with another pumped-up sedan. It's called the XJR575, and although it isn't as extreme as the aforementioned XE, it still packs a version of the company's 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that makes 575 horsepower and 517 pound-feet of torque. According to Jaguar, that will get the full-size luxury sedan to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 186 mph. There isn't much on the outside to tell this hot-rodded kitty from the regular XJR. The front bumper, rear spoiler, hood vents, and side skirts are all the same as the lower-powered version. It does come standard with black wheels, but they can also be optioned on a normal XJR. There are only a couple of unique points. One of which is the addition of XJR575 badges. The other is the application of a model-specific paint color. Buyers of the XJR575 will have the option to coat their cats in the Satin Corris Gray seen above, or a hue called Velocity Blue. Inside, seats are upholstered in black leather with red stitching. They feature diamond-stitched panels, as well. In the seat backs, the number 575 is embroidered. The sill plates also feature the XJR575 logo. The infotainment gets an upgrade, too, in the form of a bigger 10-inch touchscreen. Jaguar hasn't announced pricing or availability of the XJR575 yet. However, we will likely know soon, as the company will be revealing some updates for the rest of the XJ line-up for the 2018 model year.
