I strongly believe the classic car market is a great place to invest in. When the economy is strong, the classic car market is extremely strong. When the economy isn't so strong the classic car market holds its own. I've sold classic cars and trucks in both economic conditions. The reason classic cars make such a great investment is because people are crazy about cars, especially the classics! I've learned it's not just the United States; it’s the entire world. Over the years I've noticed that the extremely detailed classic cars have always commanded a higher price. Even people who don't have any classic car experience can recognize and appreciate attention to detail. Currently the overall market is on the raise once again. Certain classic cars are on the rise and others are on the decline. Typically, the classic cars that are on the rise are the cars that a lot of people don't own. In other words, there are classic cars that haven't saturated the market. The cars that are at every car show and auction and page on the Internet for sale are the ones that aren't changing in value or are slowly on the decline. Of course, if the car is spectacular it will command a higher price as I mentioned. It's all about supply and demand, not a good or bad economy. Custom cars have remained strong because each car is different from the next one. They each have their own character. “I’m putting my money where my mouth is” I’m just a 36 year old blue collar guy who was working full time selling new and used Mercedes Benz. I was selling my classic cars and trucks part time. Although I had my used car dealers license I didn’t have a facility that was open to the public. Overall things were going just fine. However, my dream was to open my own classic car and truck dealership. I decided to give up my full time job with health insurance and a 401K to open a new classic and truck dealership. I had to invest a ton of money to make that happen and now have a lot more overhead. A good friend and part time employee of mine purchased this Jaguar from the family of the original owner in 2009. It stayed in California for 13 years! He bought it with intentions of keeping but had an older female friend who wanted to purchase it. He sold it to her and after a few years of ownership she decided to give up driving based on her age. She called him to purchase it back and he did. One day he came to my showroom in this car and I was blown away by its great looks and great condition. All the trim and weather stripping is in amazing condition. This is obviously from spending its life in a garage and the beautiful California weather. The chrome wheels are starting to show signs of age with some pitting. The interior is in equally as good condition and when you’re sitting in this car it’s like sitting in a new car. There are virtually no signs of age in the interior except the front seats which aren’t even worth complaining about. They're just not flawless like the rest of the interior. Jaguar planning two bodystyles for next XJ
Wed, 17 Apr 2013As we alluded to in today's F-Type first drive, Jaguar hasn't been selling its wares in China for very long, and as a result, buyers there usually don't have the same appreciation for the brand's history. So you might reasonably think that the company's recent radical styling shift (kicked off by the 2008 XF) wouldn't be as jarring to the nation's buying populace since they really didn't have the automaker's more traditionally styled models from years past to compare them against.
Yet while Jaguar and its sister marque, Land Rover, continue to pick up steam in China's developing market, that apparently isn't necessarily the case. Local buyers there tend to have more conservative tastes when it comes to styling, preferring more upright dimensions, big back seats and larger quantities of traditional luxury materials (think: chrome and wood) than other markets currently find desirable. Thus, the very bold current-generation XJ sedan may be leaving some sales on the table.
According to Edmunds, Jag doesn't want to risk that, and as such, it is preparing two bodystyles for the next-generation XJ - one with the rakish coupe-like styling of the current model, and a more "old-school" three-box sedan designed to appeal to a wider swath of Chinese buyers.
Jaguar could yet offer more hardcore F-Type R-S
Mon, 25 Nov 2013Jaguar pulled a fast one on us all when it unexpectedly shoehorned all 550 horsepower of the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from the XKR-S into the new F-Type Coupe to supersede the existing V8 S model with the F-Type R. But that's just the beginning, according to the latest intel coming from the UK.
According to Autocar, in speaking to Jaguar design director Ian Callum during the coupe's unveiling at the LA Auto Show, the British automaker could yet offer R-S and R-S GT versions of the F-Type. Just what mechanical changes those would bring when the F-Type R already packs the company's top engine remains to be seen, but given that the same engine also powers the flagship XJR performance saloon, we could envision Jaguar developing an even more powerful version for R-S versions of the little coupe and big sedan.
The GT version, meanwhile, would likely offer more extreme aero and a lighter form for the truly performance-obsessed. Considering that the new top-of-the-line F-Type is already pushing the hundred-grand mark, you can bet any R-S and R-S GT version would approach double the base F-Type's $65k sticker price.

Mon, 28 Apr 2014Jaguar has moved its Range Rover Evoque-bodied tests of the production C-X17 Concept from icy streets to the legendary Nürburgring, as work continues on the brand's first SUV.
Really, there's not a great deal of new stuff here. Based on the number plates, this is a different vehicle from the one we saw back in March, which we originally identified as the upcoming replacement for the Land Rover Freelander/LR2. The details, though, appear largely the same. The biggest distinction we can see between the March tests and this are the US-spec headlights, which add amber reflectors at their sides. Based on these shots, it does seem as if the C-X17 should be a fairly poised road vehicle, as the engineers hustle it around the 'Ring.
Of course, as soon our spies can capture images of a production-bodied C-X17, we'll be sure to pass those on to you.
