1989 Jaguar Xjs Cabriolet, V12, All Orginal. 41k Miles! Immaculate Condition. on 2040-cars
Mattituck, New York, United States
1989 Jaguar XK-S Cabriolet (Convertible) Only 40k miles! Completely Original. Mint. The Jaguar XJ-S is a luxury grand tourer that replaced the legendary E-Type (or XK-E) in September 1975, and was based on the XJ saloon. It was an exceptional grand tourer, more aerodynamic than the E-Type, and was built over an amazing 21-year production life. This longevity is a testimony to its excellence and makes parts availability easy and reasonable. The XJ’s amazingly ultra-smooth power comes from the legendary Jaguar V-12 engine, with notable other V-12s coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJ-S compared well with both Italian icons; it accelerates to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 7.8 seconds and reaches 142 mph (229 km/h). The heavy-duty GM Turbo-Hydromatic TH400 transmission is bulletproof and can be serviced widely. Besides the silky smooth power of the V-12 and the unmatchable Jaguar ride, the XJ-S delivered luxury on a par with Bentley and Rolls Royce, with rich leather sport seats, high-gloss wood accents throughout the interior, and a host of amenities: Power Top, Power Steering, 4-wheel Power Disc Brakes, Climate Control A/C, AM/FM/Cassette Stereo, Power Windows, Power Seats, Power Lumbar, Power Door Locks, etc., etc. This particular car is one of the finest examples of the XJ-S Convertible in the States. That is not an exaggeration. It is a 41k original mile, two-owner specimen that was garaged from new, and waxed, serviced and detailed religiously. Nothing has been changed or needed to be restored. No accidents or rust... in fact, very little separates this car from the day it was delivered. The engine compartment is immaculate, the paint and interior as perfect as a 25-year old car can be. (By the way, this like-new car nonetheless qualifies as an antique for insurance, inspection and registration.) The mechanics of the car are noting short of superb. Everything on the car, from engine and transmission to the stereo and power accessories, operates exactly as they should. Given the proper care, this car should last a lifetime. Its built-quality is of the highest standard and its condition, unrivalled. Everything that came with the car originally, including the leather-bound owner’s manual, books, jack, boot, etc. are supplied. Whether you are a Jaguar enthusiast, a collector, or someone looking for an affordable rare and distinctive automobile in perfect condition, this Jaguar is available for far less than the book value*, and will provide immeasurable driving and ownership pleasure. Offered for sale or interesting exchange. Please Call Michael at: 631 553 5300 *NADA Book Value: $14,300 *CPI Value Guide: $14,950 |

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
Freelander name making jump from old Land Rover model to new EV brand
Fri, Jun 21 2024The Jaguar Land Rover House of Brands is about to grow by one. JLR signed a Letter of Intent to license a new brand called Freelander to its Chinese joint-venture partner of 12 years, Chery. For those who missed it, Land Rover sold a compact four-wheel-drive model called the Freelander or LR2, depending on market and generation, from 1997 to 2015. The Freelander didn't get the best press, but that didn't stop it from being popular because, before the Evoque, it was the least expensive way to get into something bearing the green oval. The moniker's rebirth will also apply to "mainstream" products, this time pure-electric vehicles outside of JLR's or Chery's current lineups. What's more, the Freelander range won't be limited to China, although JLR wouldn't say how long it would be before international markets could expect Freelander arrival. They new cars will be designed by teams from both automakers and sit on Chery's E0X battery-electric architecture. Car News China reports that the E0X can support an 800-volt architecture, Level 3 autonomous driving, and air suspension setups. The platform also plays nice with range-extended EVs, a powertrain type enjoying the same upswing in popularity over there as in other markets. Autocar writes that extended-range EV sales from January 2023 to September 2023 rose 157% over the same span in 2022. Chery's Luxeed R7, above, sits on E0X bones. The Luxeed R7 EV comes in single- and dual-motor variants from 288 horsepower to 489 hp, and offers a maximum range of 531 miles on the Chinese cycle. Previous to this new announcement, Chery said it would also share its M3X platform with the Chery Jaguar Land Rover collaboration, the vehicle structure said to have been developed with Magna International. The M3X is suited to internal combustion and PHEV powertrains. JLR's press release specifies that for now, Freelander will be "an advanced portfolio of electric vehicles," so it's possible future Freelanders will expand powertrain options once the electric lineup gains momentum, or the M3X might be applied to a different set of products.
Land Rover planning SVX hardcore off-roaders
Sun, May 3 2015The new Special Vehicle Operations division at Jaguar Land Rover has already given us an array of ultimate wheeled creations, but it isn't quite done yet. Next, according to Car and Driver, will be a new line of SVX models. Not to be confused with the Subaru coupe from the 1990s (which also had all-wheel drive, come to think of it), Land Rover's SVX models will be hardcore off-roaders. Details are few and far between at the moment, but they're said to take inspiration from rough-terrain events like the Dakar Rally and Camel Trophy as inspiration – different from the Ford F-150 Raptor that takes its cues from the Baja 1000. Last we heard, Land Rover was planning a hardcore Defender to send the model off to pasture in high-performance style, and considering an extreme Range Rover as well. If either of those rumors materialize, they look like they'd be prime candidates for the SVX line. JLR Special Vehicle Operations has already showcased what it can do with the high-performance Range Rover Sport SVR, the luxed-up Range Rover SVAutobiography, the exclusive F-Type Project 7 and the continuation classic Lightweight E-Type. C/D confirms that further SVR models are in store to replace Jaguar's R-S performance models, while the SVX line would likely remain exclusive to Land Rover.
