1986 Jaguar Xjs on 2040-cars
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
I bought this a couple months ago on Ebay from a gent in New York. It had come out of a 6 year storage. It runs and drives. Engine has a bit of lifter tick. I suspect that it needs to have a good oil change since it sat for so long. My plan was to change all the fluids, filters and do a good tune up. It is very straight with just a bit of rust on the lower rear around the edge of the rockers. Not bad at all. It has had a repaint but they obviously stored it with boxes sitting on it as there are many scratches. I have tried sanding some with 2000 grit paper and detailer solution and polished by hand where I sanded. It will polish up nicely. Some of the scratches will have to be attended to with touch up paint, though. Has a clean interior and all the electrics work i.e. windows, lights, radio, blower fan, etc. The a/c does not work. The carpets are in nice shape and the door panels and wood inserts and dash are nice also. The gauges work and it has good oil pressure and I have let it run for a time and it has not overheated yet.The tires are bad. The battery in it is from a larger group size so you'll want to replace it. I have the spare rim with no tire on it. Headlights work as do the wipers. Bumpers in nice shape. The chrome inserts on the back are badly pitted but I have replacements for the chrome in good condition. I don't think you could drive it home. The tires are pretty bad and it really should be gone over. Would be an a big shame to part it out although it has great parts value. But it is solid and with a bit of work it would make a nice driver. I don't think I will get to it as my schedule has chnged in the past 3 weeks and there is no time available right now. That could chnge in the future but I hate to see it sit in my garage.

Jaguar XF S Sportbrake vs. Volvo V90 R-Design: A sporty wagon comparison
Thu, Apr 26 2018We had both a XF Sportbrake S and a V90 T6 AWD R-Design come through the office recently, and since they're really close competitors – both fairly large wagons, both luxury vehicles, both have sporting pretenses, and both feature all-wheel-drive. And in the case of our test cars, they're equipped very similarly, but at divergent price points. Is the Jaguar worth the premium? Let's take a closer look. The Jaguar is only available in the top-level S trim, which brings many features, as well as all-wheel-drive and a 380-horsepower supercharged 3.0-liter V6. The final price listed for our Jaguar was a heady $84,815, up from a base price of $71,445. That's thanks to a bunch of options: the $360 black trim package, the $565 metallic paint, the $1,020 20-inch wheels, the $3,495 driver assistance package, $3,265 technology package, $1,805 comfort and convenience package, and $2,860 premium interior package. View 22 Photos The Volvo is available in a variety of configurations. In fact, you can have a V90 R-Design for as little as $50,945, but you'll be making do with the front-wheel-drive T5 model that has just a 250-horsepower turbocharged four-cyinder. To match the Jaguar's feature set and to nearly match its performance, you need to go with the T6 with all-wheel-drive. In addition to powering all four wheels, it also adds the 316-horsepower twin-charged four-cylinder. The engine and drivetrain add about $6,000 to the T5's price tag. The rest of our V90's price increase was made up by a lot of options, including a Convenience Package for $1,900 that came with heated washer nozzles, a surround view camera, grocery bag holder, HomeLink, a compass, and automatic parallel parking. Other options included the upholstered instrument panel and sun shade for $1,150, metallic paint for $595, heads-up display for $900, built-in child seat for $500, carbon fiber trim for $800, Bowers and Wilkens sound system for $3,200, heated steering wheel for $300, rear air suspension for $1,200, 20-inch wheels with summer tires for $300, and the destination charge. All told, it cost $68,290, which is close to the base price of the Jaguar, but a whole lot less than the Jag's as-tested price, making the Volvo a great value. Interior and Technology But value isn't the only reason to buy a car, especially a luxury car. You want it to feel luxurious.

Jaguar likely moving HQ to Britain's most iconic racetrack
Fri, Feb 26 2016Jaguar Land Rover looks increasingly likely to make Britain's iconic Silverstone race track the automaker's new headquarters. There isn't a final deal in place yet, but the British Racing Drivers' Club, which owns the circuit, plans to have the membership vote on whether the negotiations should move forward, according to Autosport. BRDC leaders already presented the plan to members, and they were open to the idea. "The response was favorable so we will now set up an EGM for the members to vote and give the board a mandate to proceed with the deal and continue with the negotiations with JLR," BRDC president Derek Warwick told Autosport. There's no guarantee yet that JLR actually completes the deal. "There's still a lot of work to do to get the deal to where both sides are happy and more importantly what's right for the BRDC and its members." Warwick said. Rumors in early December suggested JLR was among the firms submitting bids to purchase the track, and the automaker allegedly offered 22.7 million pounds ($34.1 million at the time) for it. The company would also reportedly invest nearly $80 million to renovate the site, including adding a museum, experience center, hotel, and offices. The track would still be open for motorsport, too. Silverstone has hosted the Formula One British Grand Prix many times over the decades, and organizers signed a 17-year deal in 2009 to keep things that way well into the future. Series like the FIA World Endurance Championship, MotoGP, and British Touring Car Championship also compete there. Related Video:
