Year:1999 Mileage:46974 Color: No evidence of any repainted areas
Location:

Carlsbad, California, United States

Carlsbad, California, United States

Summary:
You are bidding on a 1999 Jaguar XJR with only 46,974 miles! This vehicle has an unblemished Carfax report. Being a true California car, there is absolutely no rust anywhere. I would drive this car cross country without a concern. No oil leaks. No dashboard warning lights. Here is an opportunity to buy the Flagship Jaguar model of 1999 for a mere fraction of what the car cost new!
California bidders note, car has already passed smog inspection. Registration expired on 12/04/2013. $223 to bring fees current through 12/04/2014.
Good luck.

Engine:
Engine starts immediately and settles into a nice 600 rpm idle. Pulls strongly all the way to redline. No missing, no pinging...just a seamless endless surge.

Transmission:

Transmission shifts from drive to reverse to drive with no clunk, no jerk, no hesitation. Up shifts and downshifts smoothly with no slipping or hard shifting.

Brakes/Tires:
New Front brakes. 4 new tires with less than 100 miles on them.

Suspension:
This is an XJR, so everything is a little stiffer than your pedestrian XJ8.  Very little body roll. Tight and responsive handling.

Paint/Exterior:

No evidence of any repainted areas. No panel appears to have been removed. Bit of cloudiness in paint starting to show on roof only.

Upholstery/Interior
:
Interior is perfect. No cracks, no tears, no blemishes any where. Dash shows no cracks. Carpets are perfect. Headliner beginning to collapse near rear glass. Clouding on inside rear view mirror...seems to be common since I have not found a used one that is not in same condition.

Electrical:
All electrical in perfect working order. Air conditioner blows ice cold! Power seats, windows, door locks, cruise, sunroof, automatic climate control all perform as they were designed to.

Miscellaneous:
Corrosion on wheels where chrome was obviously not applied with care. Re-chrome would alleviate this problem.

Jaguar Land Rover opens first overseas factory in China

Wed, 22 Oct 2014

Anyone who's a car fan knows that Jaguar and Land Rover cars and trucks all come from the UK. And while we don't doubt that will remain true for the most part, it won't be an absolute truth for long, as the British automaker has just opened its first factory overseas.
Its new plant in Changshu, China, is the result of a $1.8-billion joint venture between JLR and local automaker Chery. It covers some 4.3-million square feet and will, once at peak capacity, produce 130,000 units specifically for the Chinese market, where JLR sells over 100,000 vehicles each year to make it the company's single largest market worldwide.
Production at what's officially known as the Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company will start with the Evoque, of which one in five globally are currently sold in China. Production will eventually encompass three models. We already know that the Discovery Sport will be next, but the third model line has yet to be announced. JLR has confirmed, however, that the Changshu plant will produce unique models and derivatives specifically for the Chinese market, so we wouldn't be surprised to see a long-wheelbase version of the forthcoming XE or next-generation XF assembled there to satisfy local tastes.

2017 Jaguar XE

Thu, Apr 30 2015

You've seen this movie before. Topple the BMW 3 Series has gone more rounds than The Fast and The Furious and The Transporter combined. But like any good cinematic retread, this time it's different. For starters, the latest installment is a zombie flick. Born from the ashes of Ford ownership and the failed X-Type, the 2017 Jaguar XE is coming to save us from the somnambulant, undead Bimmer. Think Army of Darkness with luxury sport sedans, and you'll understand what we're going for. Okay, the plot is only based on a true story. The reality in the automotive world isn't as dramatic as most car journalists would like you to believe. But the XE is hugely important for Jaguar's desire to increase global production. You're looking at the future best-selling model. It's built on an all-new body structure that forms the basis for all the brand's upcoming sedans. The smallest, most affordable Jaguar also launches with a new engine family, built in a new factory in England. The XE arrives stateside in early 2016 with two available engines. A 2.0-liter diesel from the new Ingenium lineup is the entry-level model. Above that is the supercharged 3.0-liter V6 familiar to the Jaguar and Land Rover lineup. A turbo 2.0-liter gas engine will come in below the diesel at a later date, with an optional manual transmission. The XE versions on launch will offer rear- or all-wheel-drive. Pricing information is yet to be revealed. Until then, just assume the XE will mimic its competitors for price and content. We spent most of our time driving the 35t with R-Sport trim, but check back for a driving impression of the diesel in a few days. As we reported in our prototype drive of the XE earlier this year, this car has incredible steering feel. It's the supernatural aid in the XE's monomyth if any film buffs are still paying attention. The electrically assisted system ranks in the hall of fame with the rack on the current Porsche 911 Carrera. Lightly weighted, the loads build up in the steering wheel like it's wired to strain gauges on the sidewall of the front tires. It's not just good programming that makes the XE steer so well, although that's a big part. The rest comes from the chassis. Jaguar engineers claim the double wishbone front suspension uses lessons learned from the F-Type. The rear part of the car's quick responses comes from a multi-link setup Jag calls integrated link. A body 20-percent stiffer than the current XF also contributes to sharp reflexes.

1964 Jaguar XKE slinks into Jay Leno's Garage

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

The idea of altering a classic Jaguar E-Type might seem preposterous to some, but Jasen Len of XKs Unlimited managed to create a modified 1964 E-Type that stays true to the Jag's timeless design. Just a few months after Jay Leno featured his own original E-Type on Jay Leno's Garage, Len stopped by to show off his custom Jaguar creation.
Starting out with a rust-ravaged body, Len made the car just the way he wanted it to be. He started off with some minor changes to the car's exterior like the Le Mans-inspired racing lights and handmade front bumpers, handmade sills with integrated exhaust and flared rear fenders. Inside, he dropped the floor to make more interior space and reworked the E-Type's styling for more of a modern look. We have to say, if you're going to mess with a Series 1 E-Type, this is the way to do it.
Sadly, even though Len and Leno spend plenty of time talking about the car's 300-horsepower 3.8-liter inline six-cylinder, we never get to hear the car fire up. Check out the JLG video, which is posted below, and as a bonus, enjoy the gallery from Jaguar showing a 1961 E-Type.
