I'm an old test driver for Jaguar and I fell in love with this model when I was testing them, so I bought one and I have NOT been disappointed.  I'd keep this great car if it wasn't for a divorce and the fact that I could use the money!  I've worked out most of the bugs it had over the years, and it's better now than ever.  I've hand rubbed the British Racing Green paint, it still shines nice, not perfect, but, it's still mostly stunning overall. No dings on the left side, a couple on the right that could be repaired by paintless dent repair.  There's a small paint rub off on the left "c" pillar. The front valence has a crack on the right side way down low that isn't noticeable, I lived with it. The steering rack has a leak. The right fog and headlight have cracks, but still work.  The A/C has a very slow leak, but, I'm going to try to resolve that this week. The clock doesn't light up. The vent louvers on the dash and in the rear are broken, but, I have a good replacement for the dash that you can have. The Harmon-Kardon subwoofer has a rattle that goes away when you lay a towel on it. The rear side skirt next to the bumper is slightly low, but, not noticeable. The drivers seat bottom has some fine cracks, but, you don't notice that when you're sitting on it, driving this awesome car!  I'm pointing out these things so that there are no surprises. The tires still have approximately 40-50% tread left. I wouldn't hesitate to take this car across the country and back as it sits today.  The computer won't log the data for emissions testing. There are no check engine lights on. I have one key. The suspension, motor and transmission all operate as they should, and this straight six with the blower on it pulls like a very smooth freight train!  When testing these, we would put 350,000+ miles on them!  I clocked 167mph in one of these, without the rev limiter, on a test track, when I worked for Jag!  I've probably made this car sound worse than it actually is, just to be safe.  I'd love to keep it, but, time marches on.  Someone is going to get a GREAT deal on a GREAT car.  I've babied this thing, you can even have the car cover that I keep it under in the garage!  Jag enthusiasts consider this model to be the best Jag ever, and I have to agree.  My loss is your gain.  You can call me at six, zero, two, six, two, two, two, two, nine, five. No reserve!  Bid early, and bid often with confidence!  Good luck.

Jaguar F-Type pitted against Porsche 911 Cabriolet by Tiff Needell

Wed, 24 Apr 2013

You knew it wouldn't take long and it looks like EVO is first onto YouTube with a battle between the 2014 Jaguar F-Type and the 2013 Porsche 911. Tiff Needell spends a few laps warming up the tires (read: drifting like mad) in each droptop before getting in a timed run to see who's champion and who's second best.
Before the bell rings, its the Porsche that's got everything to lose, the 50-year-old era-defining sportscar getting on with a 3.4-liter flat-six, 350 horsepower, a seven-speed manual and a 3,197-pound curb weight. Other sportscars, like the F-Type, continue to eye the 911 like a flag atop Everest that they plan to first touch, and then rip from its socket. The mid-trim Jaguar rolls into the contest with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 380 hp, an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters and a curb weight of 3,521 pounds.
The video below shows you what happens when you let all those numbers fight it out on the same stretch of curvy track. Check it out.

This Jaguar E-Type is an even longer-legged feline

Tue, 12 Nov 2013

Paul Branstad loves the shape and purity of the Series 1 Jaguar E-Type, produced from 1961 to 1968, but appreciates the longer length of the Series 3 V12 model, which affords occupants a more comfortable space in which to enjoy long trips. So when Branstad brought his damaged left-hand-drive 1968 roadster from its home in the US to Classic Motor Cars in the UK for a restoration, he had a special request: restore his car, but make it a bit longer.
"This is something that we have never done before. Our client wanted the interior leg room of a Series 3 V12 E-Type but the aesthetics of a Series 1 car," says Nick Goldthorp, managing director of CMC.
For the restoration, CMC added 4.5 inches of length to the floor pan of Branstad's E-Type to create the extra legroom. Goldthorp relates, "The V12 was actually nine inches longer than a Series 1 but a lot of the additional room was behind the seats as storage and was not required on our project." That's because CMC also built a trailer out of two E-Type rear ends that attaches to a custom-made removable tow hitch.

2015 Jaguar F-Type V6 S Coupe

Wed, 03 Sep 2014

My first, ill-fated job in the auto world was at an exotic car dealer in metro Detroit. The job itself sucked, but the cars, they were exceptional. Amidst a sea of Tiptronic Porsche Boxsters, first-gen Mercedes-Benz SLKs and abused second-generation Range Rovers, there were some real gems.
In particular, I have fond memories of a trio of undrivable Jaguar E-Types. Two Series II coupes as well as a Series III convertible (that featured a mostly broken roof) spent the entirety of my brief tenure at the dealership in the back of the musty service garage. I'd make side trips through there just to see the trio of E-Types, which rarely failed to put a big, ridiculous grin on my face.
Since that time in the summer of 2005, there hasn't been a single Jag that's been capable of eliciting the same goofy smile. Not the XFR-S, with its un-aristocratic wing, nor the XKR-S. At the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, though, Jaguar introduced this F-Type Coupe. Sure, the droptop model had been around for a bit, but I thought it was the new coupe that most captured the E-Type's classic aesthetic, with a swooping roofline, those gorgeous rear haunches and a long, powerful hood. I had to drive one.
