Jaguar Buys World's Largest Collection Of British Classic Cars

Jaguar's Special Operations division announced today it has bought the world's largest collection of classic British cars. The 543 cars had belonged to wealthy dental entrepreneur Dr. James Hull, who sold the entire collection to the British automaker for $170 million dollars. Jaguar scored 130 of its own vehicles in the lot, including a XK, SS, C, D and E-types, XJ as well as a few rare Land Rovers, according to Road & Track. The division that bought the cars is not only responsible for the heritage museum, but also for special projects. Special Operations finished the 18-car run of the lightweight E-types, albeit 50 years late. Jaguar XJ facelift suggests that if it ain't broke...

Jaguar is preparing what looks to be a very modest upgrade for its long-serving XJ, now heading into its fifth year in production. The fullsize luxury sedan's changes are so limited it seems like a stretch to even refer to these changes as a proper update. New front and rear lights represent the big changes, although the XJ's front grille looks to get a tiny bit of tweaking. Beyond that, though, we can't see too much changing for Jag's flagship luxury car. That said, there could be some tweaks below the sheetmetal and within the cabin that these images don't really show. Which is hotter, Lana Del Rey or the Jaguar F-Type?

Lana Del Rey's "Burning Desire" video, the first musical collaboration between Jaguar and its hired songstress, is half music video, half long-form lifestyle commercial for the 2014 F-Type. If you like Del Rey channeling glamorous fifties fame as she lays down vocals of sensuous, languid dolor over images of black-and-white yesteryears, you'll like this song off of her new EP, Paradise.
We think the appearance of a red and brand-new Jaguar, though, is incongruous - either Del Rey or Jaguar is the anachronism, take your pic. That's not to say it's not beautiful, however, so enjoy the combination in the video below.
