Offered for sale is my 1999 Jaguar XJ8L. This is the very desirable long wheelbase version with about an extra 6" of rear legroom. Rare silver over dark navy blue interior. I purchased this car a year ago and drove it daily, putting about 10,000 miles on it. It has never broken down, failed to start, or stranded me. Very well maintained and always serviced at the dealer. Driving this car is a special experience. It is still tight, solid, and rattle-free. In contrast, I have driven Mercedes and BMWs that have rattles at 50,000 miles. The interior and carpets are very well kept, the lone exception being the driver's seat that has some wear on the left bolster, and the rear seat that has a small tear about 1/4" long. As for the exterior, there are two or three small door dings and a small dent on the right front fender and a small dent on the rear trunklid surface. The bumpers have a few scratches. I have priced the car accordingly. The car has brand-new Bridgestone Ecopia tires with the correct speed rating. I just took the car to Las Vegas and back and the car drives like a dream- road trips are its forte. The leather still smells new and everything on the car works. There are three things that need attention- the left front fog lamp is broken, the right front upper shock bushings need replacing, and the left front wheel bearing is starting to make noise. I have purchased the parts to repair all three and I will do the work before you pick it up. I am an ASE-certified mechanic and I have been through this car top to bottom. I recently replaced the front shocks and front brakes. It is truly a wonderful car and a great value for the money. These cars really get a bad rap because of poor dealer service and high cost of dealer repairs. If you can do a few simple things yourself, they are not that bad at all. Parts are cheap and plentiful. Please bid only if you intend to buy the car. $500 deposit via PayPal is due within 48 hours of auction close, balance due upon delivery within 14 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions, I will answer them promptly. Good luck!

Jaguar C-X17 rides high into Frankfurt

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

After enviously watching its competitors rake in piles of crossover-shaped dollars for years, Jaguar is poised to get into the game with a production model based on this C-X17 concept. While the British brand hasn't officially confirmed it will sell a utility vehicle - indeed, brand fans and industry watchers have wondered whether the Leaping Cat even need to get into the game considering its corporate cousins at Land Rover - we would be dumbfounded if it didn't happen in short order.
We've always been concerned that Jaguar's styling language wouldn't translate well to a high-riding shape, but here at its Frankfurt Motor Show debut, the C-X17 comes off as quite handsome (if predictable) in the metal. The same couldn't always be said of Jag's styling DNA, but newer models beginning with the XF and the XJ have introduced design elements like a larger, more vertical grille that suit the C-X17's form factor exceedingly well. Even the rear end successfully borrows its taillamp design from the glorious new F-Type Roadster.
Underneath the concept's two-box shape is a new aluminum unibody that Jag says it is poised to employ on its next-generation models, including the long-expected midsize sedan coming to North America in 2016. Jaguar has long been a leader in aluminum chassis development even as it has struggled to take weight out of some of its vehicles (the F-Type, for instance, isn't exactly lightweight). Thus far, Jaguar isn't talking powertrains other than to say it will employ a new generation of gas and diesel engines.

Jaguar envisions future without V8 engines

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

With tighter emissions and fuel economy regulations looming, Jaguar may have to do more than make a small, fuel-efficient hatchback to lower its model range's consumption figures - it also might give up its venerable V8 power, Drive reports. But not anytime soon, says Steven de Ploey, Jaguar's product and marketing director, who recognizes that the V8 can be replaced only by something that offers the same, or better, performance. But he has a word of caution: "We are not wedded to V8s."
In the meantime, de Ploey says there are other ways to reduce emissions. One of the first steps Jaguar could take is to shift away from the use of superchargers, which aren't as good as turbochargers at maintaining efficiency and making power. But he adds that supercharging still is "at the heart of Jaguar's performance proposition," and that the company has addressed the current downsizing trend by "replacing our naturally aspirated V8 with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6."
Consider one of de Ploey's comments on the cancelled C-X75 supercar (pictured) for some clue about Jaguar's future: "Some of the stuff we have already exploited to the extreme in the C-X75 is the kind of thinking for us and is an essential test bed to see how we could evolve from today to something that is sustainable in the future."

Jaguar F-Type squares off against Porsche 911, Aston V8 Vantage with Chris Harris

Fri, 21 Jun 2013

Chris Harris is back on the job, taking on really really difficult car questions like: Which enormously sexy and good-to-drive, high-performance convertible is the top of the heap? As one of the hottest cars in the luxury space right now, the Jaguar F-Type S is, of course, in on the action. Competition comes in the form of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster and the Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. Sun-loving CEOs who despise test-driving need look no further.
Scroll on below for a fully featured (with a running time of more than 20 minutes) comparison video. Harris does his best to entertain - in a typically nitpicky and made-up-British-words fashion - and the moving pictures are lovely to look at. Kick back, pour a pint and get your weekend started off right.
