Hey folks, I am selling my 1996 XJ6.  It is British Racing Green with Coffee interior.  I bought it from the original owner and it has 45,xxx miles on it.  I worked out some bugs and did maintenance.

Inside
The interior is nearly perfect except for the headliner.  The heated seats work, even the clock works properly.  The center vent louvers are misaligned.  The rest of the interior looks very good!  The leather is in great condition all around.  The dash is perfect.  The wood is in very good condition, save for some nicks on the drivers wood from something hitting it frequently.  The console wood is perfect.  The sunroof works.  A/C is cold and heat seems to work fine.  It even has rear heated seats, a 96 only option with the cold weather package.  There are no lights on the dash while driving.  The powered seats work.  All windows work.  The headliner is coming down above the rear seats and above the sunvisors.

Exterior
Keep in mind, this car was originally bought by an older gentleman.  It does have some body work done and some dings.  I have a clean carfax report.  All in all, there is great paint on this 90% of this car.  I have polished and shined it best I can.  The problem areas are, the right front fender has a $50 bondo and spray can repair, the front and rear bumpers are chipped, and the passenger front door has a slight dent on below the horizontal molding.  The left side of the car has newer paint in spots.  I noticed in the sun the drivers door is a shade different from the fender and LR door/quarter.  Hardly noticeable but it's there.  Various scratches around the body.  The car shines up well as you can see in the pictures.  The chrome is great.  I always say the chrome on these cars is always very robust.  The mirrors work properly.  All the lights and lenses are there and working properly.  Even the third brake light is still in place!  All the glass is crack free.  The front windshield does have the normal streaks from the wiper.

Engine bay
The engine runs perfectly.  I just replaced the spark plugs and the cam cover gaskets.  Changed the oil and filter using a genuine Jaguar oil filter and Castrol Edge 5W-30 oil.  A new air filter was installed.  I replaced the thermostat and gasket along with the temp sensors on the t/stat housing.  Changed the coolant to Dex-cool.  I also replaced the upper rad hose.  There is a slight leak from the power steering lines.  Everything else seems tip-top.

Underneath
Under the car is very good.  The differential pinion seal has a slight weep as well as the side seals.  I've seen these go along time without a problem.  The transmission is nice and dry.  The engine had a leak from the cam cover gasket, which I replaced.  Also, the aforementioned power steering leak.  The suspension is still tight, wheel bearings feel just right at all four corner.  I replaced the front upper shock bushings with genuine jaguar units that are foam.  The foam does tend to break down over time but the aftermarket rubber ones are way too stiff.  Control arm bushings and ball joints are still tight.  The car feels good going down the road.  The tires are 6-8 years old with 6-8 32nds tread all around.  They are Pirelli P4000e (two) and Pirelli P4000 Super Touring (two).  If I were to keep this car, I would replaced them simply due to age.  There is no body damage underneath.

Driving
I use this car daily and would drive it anywhere.  I enjoy driving these cars.  I can say without a doubt that this car is ready to go anywhere.  It drives effortlessly and provides the feedback you are looking for.  There are some tire vibrations that smooth out with driving.  The rest of the car is smooth as can be.  The trans shifts perfectly and sport mode enhances the experience.  The engine does not miss a beat.  There are no abnormal noises or sounds.

I hope someone can appreciate this car as much as I do.  Sure, it has some cosmetics to take care of, but it is a solid car that is ready for a new owner to appreciate.  I encourage you to ask questions.  I believe in this car and if it weren't for my VDP already taking up my garage, I'd really consider keeping it.

Any bidder with 0-5 feedback must email me or your bid will be rejected.  There are too many scams in the world and ain't nobody got time for that.

Sold As-is, Where-is, no warranty is expressed or implied.  This is an 18 year old car and is in good shape but do not confuse it for a new car.

Please contact me to come by and take a test drive.

Jaguar Land Rover undergoes $3.2 billion turnaround plan as sales slump

Thu, Nov 1 2018

MUMBAI — India's Tata Motors on Wednesday announced a turnaround plan for its luxury car unit Jaguar Land Rover, which has been hit hard by trade tensions between China and the U.S., low demand for diesel cars in Europe and worries over Brexit. Under "Project Charge," Tata Motors said it plans to cut costs and improve cash flows at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) by 2.5 billion pounds ($3.2 billion) over 18 months. JLR also plans to launch several new vehicles, including the Jaguar I-Pace and the new Range Rover Defender over the next few years and will offer a hybrid or full-electric version of all its models by 2020. "Together with our ongoing product offensive and calibrated investment plans, these efforts will lay the foundations for long-term sustainable growth," JLR CEO Ralf Speth said after Tata Motors reported a quarterly loss. JLR has trimmed its pre-tax profit expectations for the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2019, and expects to break even, Speth said, versus an earlier target of profit growth. As part of the turnaround plan, JLR will first focus on cash-saving "quick wins" like reducing non-product investments and speeding up asset sales, Tata Motors said in an investor presentation. In the near term it will improve efficiency in areas including purchasing and material cost, manufacturing, logistics and people, and will focus on strategic and non-core asset sales. JLR has already reduced the number of production days at its UK plants in Castle Bromwich and Solihull. The company said in its presentation it has saved 300 million pounds since it initiated the turnaround plan six weeks ago and is working on 500 ideas for the future. Tata Motors reported a loss of 10.49 billion rupees ($141.9 million) for the July-September quarter, compared with a profit of 24.83 billion rupees in the year-ago period. That was worse than the estimate of a loss of 2.40 billion rupees, according to Refinitiv data. JLR reported a loss of 101 million pounds during the quarter and its margin on earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) fell 130 basis points to 9.9 percent. Retail sales of its Jaguar sedans and Land Rover sport utility vehicles (SUVs) fell 13.2 percent to about 130,000 units, hurt particularly by tariff changes in China and escalating trade tensions. Demand in China remained muted even after the country cut import tariffs for cars and car parts to 15 percent for most vehicles from 25 percent from July.

2017 Jaguar F-Type slashes $3,600 off base model

Thu, Nov 12 2015

It won't be quite such a drain on the checking account to hop into a Jaguar F-Type for the 2017 model year. The 2017 F-Type Coupe will start at $62,395 (after the $995 destination charge), which is $3,600 less than the 2016. Jag will also give the convertible a $2,700 price cut to begin at $66,395. Drivers won't really be giving up amenities with either of these. Both entry models will use the company's supercharged 3.0-liter V6 making 340 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission. They'll come with partially electric six-way adjustable seats and a fixed metal roof for the coupe. New standard features will include a valet mode, solar attenuating windshield glass, and the brand's EliteCare warranty with five-years/60,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance. The vehicles also still pack navigation and a surround sound stereo system. The 2017 F-Types will arrive at dealers in late spring 2016. The move to cut prices follows on Jag's decision in September to slash the cost of the XF 35t by over $5,200. The 2017 line-up of Jaguar sports cars will continue to consist of the F-TYPE, F-TYPE S and the range topping F-TYPE R. The addition of a new entry price level for 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE builds upon the pricing realignment strategy announced as part of The Next Generation of Jaguar for the 2016 model year in which an improved competitive value position was brought to market through a combination of new entry priced models, increased standard equipment and lower MSRPs that all help the brand target the heart of the luxury market.

Jaguar F-Type Coupe patent images exposed, 4-cyl coming?

Fri, 03 May 2013

Last year, Jaguar told us that "if you get a convertible right, it's easy to do a coupe" in reference to a coupe version of the Jaguar F-Type, and now we might be seeing our first unofficial look at a hardtop version of the convertible. The German publication Auto Motor und Sport has dug up what it is reporting to be patent images filed by Jaguar showing the lines of the new coupe.
If these are actually patent drawings, they have definitely been enhanced with color and shadowing compared to what we usually see from OEM patent filings. We wouldn't be surprised if they are just altered images of Jaguar's C-X16 Concept, but either way, it's going to be a sharp car. On top of the new coupe, the article also says that the F-Type could be getting the same 240-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is currently used in the Jaguar XF, as well as the Land Rover LR2 and Range Rover Evoque.
