Up for Auction in a 1986 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas. I bought this car to do a V8 swap in it, but I recently inherited another project car so the Jag must go. It's a very clean an tidy car and, with a bit of TLC, should make someone a great cruiser!
The Exterior: I would call this car a "10-foot" car. It was repainted before I bought it -- you won't win any Concourse with it, but you shouldn't need to repaint it anytime soon, either. The rims are in great shape.
The Interior: Tan leather, in good shape. The driver's seat is worn, as is the bottom of the rear seat.
Mechanically: It has a blown head gasket but still runs (although I only run it for a few seconds every once in a while to keep the gas in the lines fresh). All of the parts you need to fix the head gasket are included with the car, as are two new front struts. Also included is a spare used engine (palletized, ready for shipping) that came with the car when I bought it. According to the PO, the engine had around 90,000 miles on it when he bought it off of eBay.
I have CA title in hand. I will only accept PayPal or Certified Funds. If you're in the Vegas area and would like to see the car in person, please message me via eBay.
Please drop me a line if you have any questions. I reserve the right to end this auction early as the car is listed for sale locally as well. Happy bidding!
On Aug-20-13 at 06:55:11 PDT, seller added the following information:
20Aug13 6:55am: Per a bidder's request, I've added some more pictures to show the interior and part of the undercarriage. You'll notice that my memory of the interior was off a bit: the front passenger seat is worn, but the driver's seat is in great shape -- almost certainly re-upholstered in the last few years. Also, the debris you see on the center console is just dust.
The two under body shots are just quick pics taken to show the lack of rust on the car. I've never seen any rust on it, and, as it's always been a CA or NV car, I doubt there is any.
Per a question from a watcher, the bright work (chrome or polished aluminum trim around the windows and such) is in excellent condition, some of the best I've ever seen on a 27-year old car!
Please message me via eBay with any questions! Thanks!

Jaguar working on lighter F-Type with C-X75's twin-charged engine?
Wed, 09 Jul 2014Every automaker has its own agenda when it comes to concept cars. Some roll them out just to showcase where it's heading. Others create them to gauge public opinion for a potential production model. Still others only showcase a concept car to preview a model that's already well underway. Jaguar is just such a company.
In the last several years, Coventry has only produced a handful of concept cars, and each of them - the C-X16 that foreshadowed the F-Type, the C-X17 that previews the upcoming crossover and Project 7 that is now entering limited production - has led straight to the introduction of a new, commercially available model. Except for one: the C-X75.
The extreme lightweight supercar was set to succeed the XJ220 with a number of advanced technologies, but unfortunately Jaguar ended up pulling the plug to watch from the sidelines as McLaren, Ferrari and Porsche got all the attention for their new hybrid hypercars. But that doesn't mean that some of the technologies initially developed for the C-X75 won't find their way into other Jaguar products.
On Location in Montenegro with Jaguar
Fri, May 6 2016I didn't know much about Montenegro until just a few weeks ago, when Jaguar invited Autoblog to the country to test out the 2017 F-Pace. In case you missed our write-up, the vehicle is excellent. So, it turns out, is Montenegro. According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, "It has a coast on the Adriatic Sea to the southwest and is bordered by Croatia to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the northwest, Serbia to the northeast, and Albania to the southeast." That's a dry way of saying that Montenegro is situated in a beautiful part of Europe, with mountains galore, glorious coastlines, and spectacular rocky cliffs that plummet into the Adriatic Sea. Getting to Montenegro is a bit difficult. There are two airports in the country, neither of which is particularly large or easily accessible. Driving can be a challenge, too; since most of the country is mountainous, there are exactly zero highways within its boundaries. There are, however, lots of winding two-lane roads with picturesque views and a ferry system to shuttle vehicles across some of the larger bodies of water. Montenegro is a great place to experience a vehicle like the Jaguar F-Pace, which offers great driving dynamics across a wide variety of road surfaces. And as you'll see in the video above, surfaces vary widely in Montenegro. If you want learn more about the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace, stick around for the second video in the playlist. European automakers gear up for Brazilian production
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Brazil is the place to be, apparently. Toyota has been investing in the South American country, as has BMW, which announced a $261 million investment in October 2012, on the heels of an Audi factory announcement in San José Chiapa. The high-end immigration is only set to continue, as Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar-Land Rover have both announced plans to set up manufacturing operations there.
Mercedes is the big news here, as its new facility will see the German manufacturer invest 170-million euros for production of its next-generation C-Class and upcoming GLA-Class. "Brazil is an important future market. With our local production we accept the challenge and take on the competition," noted Andreas Renschler, Management Board member for Production and Procurement at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans. Production is expected to begin by 2016.
Jaguar-Land Rover, meanwhile, isn't so concrete in its plans. The news of its investment in South America comes from a job posting for a plant quality manager in Brazil that was picked up by the UK's AutoCar. "Portuguese language skills will be definite advantage" for interested candidates, according to the job listing. The want ad follows on the heels of remarks by Jaguar Land Rover's Dr. Ralph Speth, who said there are "very intensive discussions" with Brazil's government. Unlike Mercedes, there's no mention of which vehicles will be produced in South America, although AutoCar thinks the Freelander, sold in the US as the LR2, is a leading contender.
