1985 Jaquar xj6 referred to as a "lumper" meaning the engine has been changed from the Jaquar engine to a Camaro 305 engine. This makes the car much easier for mechanics to work on as well as find parts that are less expensive. There are scratches in the paint and the leather seats have some cracking. I drove this car summers only the first 4 years of owning it as well as put in some car shows. When not being driven car was exclusively garage kept. Due to illness in family and other obligations the car has not been driven in the last 3-4 years or so, therefore, it could probably use tires and a brake job. We installed an aftermarket JVC radio with CD player. The engine itself has only approximately 11000 miles on it. The story with this car is it was bought brand new in 1985/86 and driven for a very short time when it was in an accident. Due to the cost of export repairs the insurance company listed it as totaled. However, the car being of some solid steel was taken a few years later and restored. I have a clear rebuilt title from when we purchased it. We purchased on ebay in 2005 for $5001.  It was always in Michigan until we purchased in 2005 and brought to Illinois. The last upgrade we did is to install an air compressor for the air conditioning. I am unsure if this actually works but the basics are there to fix if wanted. Also, we purchased the originally intended headlights and have them installed. When Jaquar sent these cars to the states they were intended to have one headlight larger than the other. Our government made them change them to the same size headlights. While they appeared to be different in size due to the frames they in fact were not. A few years ago we purchased a kit to convert them to the intended sizes and that is how they are now. The body is SOLID, this is a head turning car. The gloss on this car is stunning. There is one long scratch along one door, should be easy to buff/fix I have a low reserve, much lower than what I have paid and money put into it. VIN #sajjcalp4cc399s42 was not recognized by the ebay system but is correct VIN and shows up on Illinois VIN website as well as on title. Car was legally imported when first purchased in 1985.

Jaguar Land Rover building new R&D center for hybrids, EVs, autonomous cars

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

The success of Jaguar Land Rover in recent years has largely been down to a resurgent product lineup, but a recent move into the research and development will see the British-based, Indian-owned brands take the fight to its German rivals more aggressively than ever before.
JLR is investing 50 million pounds ($80,345,000, as of this writing) in a joint R&D center in central England. The move will more than triple its staff dedicated to research, from 150 to 500, with Wolfgang Epple, JLR's Director of Research and Technology telling Automotive News Europe, "In order to play among the big animals in automotive and to be anchored in the mind of customers you have to have offered something unique, to be first in market. We want to be one of the key premier automotive manufacturers."
Jaguar Land Rover's 50-million-pound contribution represents more than half of the 94-million-pound tab, on the so-called National Automotive Innovation Campus. Based at Warwick University, Tata's European Technical Center, Warwick Manufacturing Group and the Higher Education Funding Council, an agency of the British government, are all chipping in for the facility.

Watch a Jaguar F-Type R drag a parachute at 186 mph

Mon, Jun 15 2015

With carbon-ceramic brakes on offer, the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe can shed off speed even faster than it can rack it up. Even the standard steel rotors do a pretty good job of it. But what would happen if you deployed a parachute out the back of the Jag at 186 miles per hour, like you might with a drag racer? That's what the British automaker has found out in this latest video. And just why would they do such a thing, you ask? Because Bloodhound, that's why. Jaguar is providing technical support to the Bloodhound SSC land speed record attempt, and one of the roles into which the F-Type has been pressed is to check the parachute that will (along with the air brakes and rotors) form an integral part of the jet- and rocket-powered vehicle's run. To make sure the chute would do its job, the team put Royal Air Force pilot Andy Green behind the wheel of the specially equipped F-Type at the RAF air base in Bentwaters, Suffolk, UK, had him speed down the runway up to the car's top speed and deploy the chute. Fortunately, as you can see from the minute-long clip, everything seemed to have gone according to plan – though we're not sure about the logic behind the assertion that if "it worked at 180, it will definitely work at a thousand miles an hour." The jet and rocket powered car, which aims to surpass the current record of 763.035mph before targeting 1000mph, has multiple braking systems including air-brakes ('doors' mounted on the side of the car which open to increase aerodynamic drag) and disc brakes (used when slowing down from 200mph).

Jaguar's latest beast is the 2018 XJR575

Mon, Jul 24 2017

Hot off the rear wheels of the insanely quick XE SV Project 8, Jaguar is back with another pumped-up sedan. It's called the XJR575, and although it isn't as extreme as the aforementioned XE, it still packs a version of the company's 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that makes 575 horsepower and 517 pound-feet of torque. According to Jaguar, that will get the full-size luxury sedan to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 186 mph. There isn't much on the outside to tell this hot-rodded kitty from the regular XJR. The front bumper, rear spoiler, hood vents, and side skirts are all the same as the lower-powered version. It does come standard with black wheels, but they can also be optioned on a normal XJR. There are only a couple of unique points. One of which is the addition of XJR575 badges. The other is the application of a model-specific paint color. Buyers of the XJR575 will have the option to coat their cats in the Satin Corris Gray seen above, or a hue called Velocity Blue. Inside, seats are upholstered in black leather with red stitching. They feature diamond-stitched panels, as well. In the seat backs, the number 575 is embroidered. The sill plates also feature the XJR575 logo. The infotainment gets an upgrade, too, in the form of a bigger 10-inch touchscreen. Jaguar hasn't announced pricing or availability of the XJR575 yet. However, we will likely know soon, as the company will be revealing some updates for the rest of the XJ line-up for the 2018 model year. We expect to get details on pricing and availability at that time. Related Video:
