Jaguar F-Type Coupe unveiled with range-topping R model
Tue, 19 Nov 2013This is the Jaguar F-Type Coupe, the long-awaited hardtop counterpart to the F-Type roadster we tested earlier this year. Besides adding a roof, it shuffles up the engine range that we saw on the Convertible model, and in two of three cases, it cuts the cost of entry rather quite nicely (a happy contradiction to earlier reports).
The big change is that the F-Type Coupe does away with the Convertible's V8S trim (although the 495-horsepower variant will still be available in the droptop), and adds an even more potent letter to the top of the range. The $99,000 F-Type R Coupe is the latest member of Jaguar's R Performance line, and despite being down a letter on the XFR-S and XKR-S, it features the same 5.0-liter, 550-hp supercharged V8. With all that power on tap, the F-Type R will sprint to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds (if it doesn't break into the 3s in independent testing, we'll be shocked) and on to a top speed of 186 miles per hour. If you need to get to freeway speeds quickly, the F-Type R will also go from 50 to 75 mph in just 2.4 seconds.
As the top tier model, the F-Type R is loaded down with performance-oriented tech. The suspension features adaptive dynamics that manage the car's body movements and adjust accordingly, while the suspension itself is 4.3-percent stiffer in front and 3.7-percent tighter in the back than the F-Type V8S Convertible. Drivers can dial up an even stiffer suspension setting in Dynamic Mode, which will also tweak the steering, the shift schedule of the eight-speed SportShift automatic and the throttle response of that brawny engine.
Jaguar's first ever production EV is finally here
Fri, Mar 2 2018Transcript: Jaguar goes all-electric with the production 2019 I-Pace. The 2019 Jaguar I-Pace has been revealed in Graz, Austria ahead of its public debut in Geneva. Originally revealed back in 2016 as a concept, the EV has been heavily influenced by the C-X75 supercar concept. The I-Pace is Jaguar’s first all-electric vehicle and will include a 90 kWh battery with a range of 240 miles. Jaguar says it can recharge to 80% in just 40 minutes on a 100-kW DC fast charger. The all-wheel-drive SUV has an output of 349 hp and 512 lb-ft of torque with the help of twin Jaguar-designed concentric motors. A Touch Pro Duo infotainment system comes standard and includes a 10-inch upper and a 5.5-inch lower touchscreen. The I-Pace software will also benefit from over-the-air updates. Pricing will be announced March 6th with U.S. customers receiving the I-Pace in the second half of 2018. Jaguar revealed their anticipated I-Pace EV in Austria, ahead of its public debut in Geneva. Jaguar hints at what might become of XK after F-Type's arrival
Wed, 02 Jan 2013Jaguar may move the company's XK further upmarket following the introduction of its forthcoming F-Type. The newcomer to the range easily shoulders the burden of carrying the Jaguar sportscar mantle, freeing up the XK to evolve in another direction. While speaking with Autocar, Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum said there's an opportunity to grow the grand tourer both in size and luxury.
Whether that means the vehicle will retain its two-plus-two seating configuration or swell to offer buyers even more space remains to be seen. Either way, the future will likely see the XK soften its claws moving forward. And that's no bad thing. Jaguar has a long history of building luxurious grand tourers more content to soak up miles of highway than bounce from apex to apex.
What else is in store for the brand? Callum seems to have kept his cards close to his chest, refusing to acknowledge ongoing rumors of a Jaguar crossover beyond saying the brand "had to take notice" of the popularity of the luxury SUV market.
