Offered for your bidding is a solid & eye catching vintage 1965 Jaguar S type saloon, which was lovingly restored & customized in 2008 by a Jaguar enthusiast rom whom I purchased this car. The elegant lines and detail of this automobile are enhanced by the classic color combination - the epitome of British automobile styling. Imagine yourself behind the wheel of this beauty on a sunny summer afternoon, or winding down a country lane on a colorful autumn morning ? When this car rolls down the street, expect heads to turn, and jaws to drop - its that good looking ! Please review all of my photos to appreciate the elegant detail of this very special automobile, and read my detailed descripton below:

All the specifics about the mechanical aspects are information taken from the man who restored the car, and are related as such. This car was taken down to the bare metal and completely restored with several upscale customizations. The body is painted a classic British racing green (I have some extra paint for future touch-ups, if needed), with all original chrome trim. Wire wheels with chrome 'knock-off' hubs. Original chrome grille, leaper, and Jaguar grille medallion. The interior ceiling fabric, carpet, and vinyl door panels were all replaced in the restoration. Interior wood trim was also beautifully restored retaining original chrome details, and the restorer put in a nicely customized console around the stick shift. The car is equipped with buff color leather seats from a circa 1994 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas. The front seats have electric power operation, and the rear seats have laquered burl wood fold-out cocktail tables, and center arm-rest. The dash retains all original switches and Smiths gages, set into a rich burl wood dashboard with a pull-out cocktail tray in the center. All gages work, except for speedometer (which is not connected). There are no seat belts (car pre-dates the regulation) but these can be added by the new owner, should they choose to.

The engine was replaced with a powerful custom built engine comprised of the following: GM 350 8-cylinder block, new pistons with Corvette connecting rods, rings, and oil pump. Aluminum heads, approximately 10 to 1 compression, with high lift rockers on 3/8 studs, andHolley 650 cfm carburator. It features an Edelbrock intake, camshaft, and lifters with an upgraded 4 row core radiator with electirc temperature controlled cooling fan. Transmission is Tremec t-5 overdrive 5 speed, with cast iron bellhousing, heavy duty clutch, 11" pull type clutch slave cylinder. Rear gears 3.54 Professionally made and balanced driveshaft - with drive train bolted to original mounts with specially fabricated conversion mounts - so this car could easily be returned to a stock engine and transmission. Front brakes were upgraded to Volvo 240 4 pot calipers (per suggestion from jaglovers.com). The twin fuel pumps (remember, these cars have twin gas tanks - one on each side) are also new as of the 2008 restoration. The original odometer reads 69, 111 miles - based on the original Jag engine which was removed. As a car that was only occassionally driven in summer months since restoration, I can only estimate that the new engine has fewer than 5,000 miles on it. This vehicle just passed its annual New York State inspection the end of July.

The ride in this car is smooth, due to the independent front & rear suspension which Jaguar pioneered and was famous for. The engine starts & runs extremely well, and it is a dependable car (thanks in part to the GM engine replacement, which accounts for reliablity and easy repairs). There is a very basic AM/FM stereo radio with casstte player in the dash. There is no A/C, and no power steering - however these can be added if you wish. There is ample room in the engine well and a space to mount the power steering pump, etc. if you wish to do this. As mentioned previously, the spedometer is not connected, nor is the parking brake (since its standard transmission, you leave it in gear when you park and its not going anywhere), nor are the fog lights mounted to the bumper - which for the moment are ornamental. The paint if in very good condition, glossy, with only a minor scratch or two. Chrome trim is all original and good condition, however the front & rear bumpers are quite spotted - but overall display well (they can easily be removed and re-chromed by the new owner, if you're particulary fastidious). The only body /cosmetic issue I should make you aware of is a small, approx 8 to10" area beginning to show deterioration on the underside rear side area (near back bumper) on drivers' side. Dealing with this now at your local body shop should be relatively inexpensive, and save it from advancing.

I have described this car and provided photos to convey description to the best of my ability. This car is being sold "as-is" and as such, there are no warranties impiled or extended with this vehicle. Buyer is responsible for pre-bid inspection, and must make their own transport arrangements. I will assist in coordinating this as best I can. Buyer agrees to pay $1,000 deposit via PayPal at end of auction, with the balance due within 48 hours in the form of cash or certified funds, and will take possession and remove the vehicle within 7 days. Your bid is a binding contact, so please make sure you have read the description, terms, and agree to them before bidding as this is a final sale.

Bloodhound SSC makes its speed-ready debut in London

Fri, Sep 25 2015

Bloodhound SSC, the 1,000-mph land speed record contender, broke cover this week in Canary Wharf, London, in the heart of the Docklands financial district. "This is the best of British engineering meets the best of British banking," quipped Philip Dunne, MP, minister of state for defense procurement, which has provided backing for the team in terms of Army and Royal Air Force personnel and equipment. The team announced that Bloodhound will do its first test runs in Newquay, Cornwall, next spring before traveling to Hakskeen Pan in northwest South Africa in the fall. There, on October 15, 2016, it will make its first attempt on the land speed record, which currently stands at 763.035 miles per hour. That speed was set by Thrust SSC in the Black Rock desert on October 15, 1997 by Bloodhound's driver, Andy Green. Nineteen years later to the day, Green will be shooting for a speed over 800 mph. Over 8,000 people will come to Canary Wharf to see this extraordinary jet- and rocket-powered car over the next couple of days. This is the first-ever viewing of the machine in assembled form. The right-hand side is fully dressed in desert spec, complete with forged aluminum wheels and aerodynamics. The left-hand side is in 'naked' Newquay test spec, with panels removed for easy access and the whole thing riding on rubber tires that can run on tarmac. First impressions are of a big yet muscular car simply crammed with engines, jets, and rockets. The most recognizable thing, apart from the seven fire extinguishers, is the Jaguar AJ133 5.0-liter V8, lifted from an F-Type, which will run the fuel pumps that deliver over 211 gallons of high-test peroxide over the rocket motor's 20-second burn time. The EJ200 Typhoon military jet engine occupies the top floor and provides nine tons of thrust, and underneath is the single Nammo rocket motor providing an additional four tons. "When we go for 1,000 mph, we'll need another two rocket motors," says Mark Chapman, Bloodhound's chief engineer. "That total additional eight tons of thrust is what we'll need to get from 800 to 1,000 mph." He explains that the rear of the car will have to be redesigned to accommodate the two additional rocket motors, and the suspension might have to be adapted with longitudinal rear spring units like the fronts. There are still unknowns in the project, such as the area of vacuum that will follow the car several meters behind.

Jaguar names its 3 Series-fighter XE, packs it with Ingenium engines

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

Jaguar is committed to emerging from the fringes of the luxury car market and into the mainstream. Just take a look at where it was a couple of decades ago and where it is now: In the 1980s, it had essentially two product lines, the XJ sedan and XJ-S coupe/convertible), and now it's got the XK coupe and convertible, the XJ sedan, the XF sedan and wagon and the F-Type coupe and roadster. But it's not about to stop there.
Coventry knows that if it's going to take on the German and Japanese heavyweights, it's going to need a compact sports sedan, and it's not about to repeat the mistake that was the X-Type. To that end, it's long been rumored to be developing a rival to the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class - it just hasn't given us much to go on. But that changes right here and now.
At the Geneva Motor Show, Jaguar has confirmed the imminent arrival of its new sports sedan, and along with the teaser image above, has given us some juicy details. For one, it'll be called the XE - fitting nicely alongside its big brothers the XF and XJ in Jaguar's growing sedan lineup. For another, it'll hit markets overseas in 2015 and arrive here in the United States in 2016.

Is the Jaguar XFR-S really worth $17k more than the XFR? [w/poll]

Wed, 22 Jan 2014

Adding performance to a car is rarely cheap - whether you're looking to do it yourself or rely on the factory to do it for you. In the case of the new Jaguar XFR-S, the cost differential over an already-impressive (and somewhat expensive) XFR is a stout $16,800. Auto Express recently got a hold of both cars to see whether that price pays off on the track.
For that price, Jaguar gives the XFR-S an extra 40 horsepower and 41 pound-feet of torque - for a total of 550 hp and 502 lb-ft - to go with a stiffer suspension, beefed-up differential and, of course, meaner styling. We don't want to ruin the results of the AE video, but right off the bat, the host says that you can feel the extra power of the XFR-S, but that it's not a "night-and-day difference."
Scroll down to see what happens when two high-powered Jags go head-to-head on a track. And then be sure to let us know whether or not you think the added money is worth it for the XFR-S in the completely informal poll below.
