high resolution images of this E-Type are hosted via PhotoBucket. All of
the pictures can be seen by either clicking the slide show below, clicking any
of the sample images below, or copying and pasting the web address: Exterior: The rest of
the exterior is presentable as well. As
stated, the body panels are all impressively straight. They are not wavy. I am not able to find a
ding on the body. No evidence or records
of significant damage ever. The panels
were stripped to bare steel prior to the paintwork being performed. The body/VIN is numbers matching. Gaps throughout are great, with the driver
door being slightly pushed out due to new weatherstripping which should compress
over time. The passenger door jamb still
needs the vertical weatherstripping piece ($50). Lenses overall are nice with Lucas headlamps
units up front. Chrome/trim throughout
is presentable, shines, and is reflective, almost perfect looking from five or
so feet away, but with close inspection on some of it, it shows typical wear
such as pitting and scratches. Hatch
window trim is present but not installed.
Glass throughout overall is good, some minor wear, and some scratches on
the driver glass as well as other minor scratches on the upper part of the windscreen. It was not significant enough to show up in
the photos. None of the glass has any
cracks or significant stone impacts. The
chrome wire wheels look absolutely beautiful and show some typical aging/oxidation. The redline tires are new and contrast very
nicely from the dark blue. The underbody
and engine bay is not Concours clean but is impressive. Those areas have been refurbished with
cleaning, paint, and numerous part replacement throughout. Underside of the hood sheet metal also is
great. All in all, the exterior of this
E-Type collectively is very presentable and visually appealing. Interior: The interior
of this E-Type is mostly original, overall complete, and shows some
patina. The dashboard is very nice and
would not need much attention. The pad
does not have any cracking, rips, or other issues. Gauges overall look good. Some touch up here and there could be in
order like on the choke knob or enjoy as is.
Steering wheel is original wood and has received some repair. Headliner shows age, has some markings, but
is not drooping. The driver seat shows
some wear. The passenger seat shows more
wear and has some cracking/separation. Head
rests are present and fine. Seat belts
are present and are fine. Door panels
are original and have some scarring due to the window cranks hitting them. Hatch area material shows typical wear to be
expected. The interior overall is
presentable and shows expected patina for having traveled 86,000 miles. It does not distract from the beautiful exterior
of the vehicle but a future owner may wish to refurbish the interior. Excellent complete interior kits can be purchased
from many different sources like www.osji.com and
cost about $3,200. I personally would
just enjoy the E-type as it is but a future owner may opt for such interior work
being done and this has been considered in the value of this vehicle. Mechanical: This E-Type
is impressive mechanically and well sorted.
This was a nicely running and driving vehicle prior to receiving the
recent refurbishment, not some sort of barn find. It has received about $15,000 worth of mechanical
refurbishment since 2011. I have a four
page itemized receipt with totals and dates scanned and pictured. There are some mechanical details that can
still be worked out like with any 40+ year old car but the major important
aspects in many of the different systems (suspension, brakes, engine, cooling,
etc.) are taken care of resulting in this being a very fun to drive vehicle. Some of the significant recent work includes: -New clutch,
new slave cylinder, new reservoir -Rebuilt
carbs -Engine
serviced, cleaned, and painted, new choke cables, new water pump -Starter
rebuilt -Radiator
reconditioned, new fans -New ball
joints -New
battery, cables, and tray -New brake
master cylinder, front brake rotors, some brake hose replacement -New tires
and tubes -New
u-joints -Rear hubs: One
hub rebuilt, one replaced -Fluids
throughout The Jaguar
E-Type is a very special vehicle. The
fix head six cylinder two seater coupes are considered by many to be the most
attractive vehicles ever produced in the world.
In the context of when these vehicles were produced, E-Types also offered
impressive technology and performance compared to its competitors. The engine is a big, torquey, and high
horsepower for a little sports car, dual overhead cam 4.2L inline six. Fully independent suspension with disc brakes
at every corner was standard. The Jaguar
E-Type was a great value compared to other options back in the day (Aston
Martin, Maserati, Ferrari, Austin Healey, Porsche) and the Series 2 E-Type
holds true to that right now today as well.
These cars are so pleasant to drive.
The sound the engine makes is intoxicating. The view from the cockpit of the power bulge
and rounded fenders makes one feel like they are in something very
special. And of course, it is the type
of car that when parked in the garage, one can just sit and stare at. Needless to say, it receives tons of positive
attention and from all ages (ex: Yesterday while out for a cruise and ending up
behind a brand new Aston Martin, the driver stopped me to compliment the
E-Type). This numbers matching E-Type offered for your consideration is an extremely clean and presentable example that is ready to be driven and should be driven. Its finish shines beautifully and is a very uncommon, complimentary, and eye catching color. This E-Type has been well sorted mechanically and can be enjoyed as is or with some more effort be brought up to another level. With consideration for this E-type’s originality, excellent mechanical condition, and beautiful cosmetic condition, I have tried to set the asking price fairly at $48,500. Serious buyers are welcome to contact me with any questions. Preferred calls are between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM central time. Clean title. Fuel tank is full and car is clean, ready for its next caretaker. 262-391-1069 Add write up, photos, and video footage

Jaguar gives us our best look yet at the XF Sportbrake wagon
Wed, May 17 2017Not quite a month after the first official teaser, Jaguar has provided a much clearer look at the new XF Sportbrake. Instead of the overhead shot, we get to see front and sides almost completely unobscured. Almost. The official reveal isn't until June 14, so the car is still covered in camouflage. Since Jaguar will be the vehicle supplier for Wimbledon, and Andy Murray will reveal the car, Jaguar fitted a tennis-ball vinyl wrap. Despite the vinyl wrap, we can still get a pretty clear look at the car. Unsurprisingly, from the B-pillar forward, the XF Sportbrake is identical to its sedan counterpart. From the rear-door back, the roof is obviously extended, and the rear window's rounded corners lead us to believe the previous model's blacked-out D-Pillar has been ditched. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Jaguar also released a video about driving the XF to a remote Scottish tennis court. We don't particularly care about that, but the video does provide some brief glimpses of the Sportbrake's backside. From the looks of it, the taillights are the same between the sedan and the wagon. The rear bumper and exhaust treatment look very similar, too. As previously mentioned, the Sportbrake will be completely revealed on June 14, and the car will be available later this year – and in the US, as a Jaguar representative confirmed to Autoblog. So if you've been eying an F-Pace, maybe wait just a little longer to try out an XF wagon. Related Video:
This Jaguar E-Type is an even longer-legged feline
Tue, 12 Nov 2013Paul Branstad loves the shape and purity of the Series 1 Jaguar E-Type, produced from 1961 to 1968, but appreciates the longer length of the Series 3 V12 model, which affords occupants a more comfortable space in which to enjoy long trips. So when Branstad brought his damaged left-hand-drive 1968 roadster from its home in the US to Classic Motor Cars in the UK for a restoration, he had a special request: restore his car, but make it a bit longer.
"This is something that we have never done before. Our client wanted the interior leg room of a Series 3 V12 E-Type but the aesthetics of a Series 1 car," says Nick Goldthorp, managing director of CMC.
For the restoration, CMC added 4.5 inches of length to the floor pan of Branstad's E-Type to create the extra legroom. Goldthorp relates, "The V12 was actually nine inches longer than a Series 1 but a lot of the additional room was behind the seats as storage and was not required on our project." That's because CMC also built a trailer out of two E-Type rear ends that attaches to a custom-made removable tow hitch.
Jaguar planning two bodystyles for next XJ
Wed, 17 Apr 2013As we alluded to in today's F-Type first drive, Jaguar hasn't been selling its wares in China for very long, and as a result, buyers there usually don't have the same appreciation for the brand's history. So you might reasonably think that the company's recent radical styling shift (kicked off by the 2008 XF) wouldn't be as jarring to the nation's buying populace since they really didn't have the automaker's more traditionally styled models from years past to compare them against.
Yet while Jaguar and its sister marque, Land Rover, continue to pick up steam in China's developing market, that apparently isn't necessarily the case. Local buyers there tend to have more conservative tastes when it comes to styling, preferring more upright dimensions, big back seats and larger quantities of traditional luxury materials (think: chrome and wood) than other markets currently find desirable. Thus, the very bold current-generation XJ sedan may be leaving some sales on the table.
According to Edmunds, Jag doesn't want to risk that, and as such, it is preparing two bodystyles for the next-generation XJ - one with the rakish coupe-like styling of the current model, and a more "old-school" three-box sedan designed to appeal to a wider swath of Chinese buyers.
