1968 JAGUAR E-TYPE XKE 4.2 LITER FIXED HEAD COUPE. SERIES 1 1/2. ORIGINAL COLORS: BRITISH RACING GREEN WITH BLACK TRIM. CHROME WIRE WHEELS. 4-SPEED. TRIPLE CARBURETORS. MATCHING NUMBERS.
Offered for sale, here on Ebay, from KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS, is a 1968 Jaguar E-type 4.2 liter Fixed Head Coupe for restoration. This car was originally sold in the Los Angeles, CA area in the attractive and handsome color scheme of British Racing Green with Black leather trim. It is a full matching numbers car with the addition of the hugely desirable triple-carb setup from the Series One model. At some time in the car's life it was painted it's current black exterior color. The car is an excellent candidate for a restoration, very original, having never been taken apart. The body on this car is very straight and solid for restoration, with no evidence of any accidents. There is some repairable rust-through on the bottom of the driver's side door. Both dipped sections of the front floors could use replacement, but the rest of the car is exceptionally solid and clean, being a West Coast car. The bonnet and door fit is very nice. The bonnet is in very nice condition, with nice shape and form to it. The previous owner started some minor disassembly of the car in preparation for some restoration work, but did not get very far. The correct matching numbers engine is currently stuck from sitting. Some components were removed which are shown in the photos. The car seems very complete with the exception of the driver's seat, the RH windshield post molding, and the upper rear windshield chrome insert strip. The interior trim of the car is highly original and complete, but in need of restoration. It retains all of it's correct original gauges, switches, etc.- all in good condition. The speedometer reads 77,000 miles, which is believed to be correct. Overall, this is a desirable Series 1 1/2 Coupe for easy, straightforward restoration. It is offered with the bonus of a proper and correct Tri-carb setup which provides Series One performance on this drivetrain. With the appreciation of Series One cars recently, this Coupe offers excellent value and will prove to be a very worthwhile restoration project. It is sold with a clear title and is located in Southern California. It can be viewed by appointment. $27,900. KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS. 909-920-9221, work. 909-241-1051, cell. |

Jaguar shows off production XE body in camo
Sun, 18 May 2014Jaguar turned to Twitter and Facebook to reveal the production form of its coming XE sedan that we'll see for real at the Paris Motor Show. This is the first of a series of show-offs, Jaguar planning to wrap the bodywork in see-through camo that shows off the aluminum monocoque and other internals the company will use to promote the XE over its German rivals. That aluminum structure, which Jaguar calls iQ[Al], will also be used for other Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles.
Underneath that long bonnet and ahead of that terribly short trunk will come a series of Ingenium engines, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines in diesel and petrol forms that will come in a variety of power options, and the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that can also be found in the F-Type. Before the XE goes on sale early next year, you can click the image above to get a slightly larger view of what the The Leaping Cat's near future looks like.
Jaguar to sell all-electric cars by 2030, and six electric Land Rovers coming in next five years
Mon, Feb 15 2021Jaguar is making a big transition to become an electric-only car company. The switchover is meant to kickoff in 2025, and by 2030, Jaguar says 100% of its vehicle sales will be of electric models. Land Rover is taking a similar route, but to a lesser extent. The British off-roading brand says that it will introduce six pure electric variants in the next five years, with eyes on 60% of its sales being of electric models by 2030. Its first all-electric model will arrive in 2024, JLR said. An Automotive News report cites CEO Thierry Bollore, saying he expects "almost zero" production of cars with internal combustion engines by 2039, making that the theoretical end date of Land Rover vehicles with ICEs. JLR, owned by India's Tata Motors, said on Monday the Jaguar brand will lead the way with a fully-electric model range built on a brand-new electric platform. The Land Rover EVs are to be built on a separate electric vehicle architecture to provide for "two clear unique personalities." The Land Rover EVs are said to be finding homes on both the Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) and Electric Modular Architecture (EMA). Both support combustion engine layouts and full EV layouts, but the latter is said to be more biased toward EVs and to exclusively support "advanced electrified ICE." Both brands will be taking advantage of technology from within the Tata Group (JLR's owners) to make this transition happen. There's limited information on the future of certain models for the time being, but Jaguar did say that its previously-planned XJ replacement will no longer have a place in the brand's lineup. That said, Jaguar says the nameplate might stick around, with the assumption it could be used on an all-new future EV. Additionally, Automotive News reports that Jaguar will transition away from SUV-style vehicles, citing Bollore — the theory being that Land Rover takes over and completely fills that space in the future. We'll be wondering about what will become of the F-Pace and E-Pace. Our biggest Jaguar question concerns the F-Type, though. Will we get a fully electric version of the sports car in the future? Jaguar didn't address it, but we certainly hope so. JLR said that as it electrifies its model range, it will keep all three of its British plants open. But Bollore, who took over as chief executive in September, said the carmaker's Castle Bromwich plant in central England would focus on "non-production" activities in the long term.
Jaguar XE bares its claws in 74 images [w/video]
Wed, 01 Oct 2014The XE may prove to be the most vital new model to Jaguar's expansion. But to date we've only really seen it in top-spec, supercharged XE S form. That ends right here and now, however, as Jaguar releases details, photos and even a brief video clip showing the entire range - including those most customers are bound to buy.
Globally speaking - or at least in its home market - Jaguar will offer the XE with five different engines and in four different trim levels. The new Ingenium engine family includes two diesels and two turbocharged gasoline options along with the top-of-the-line supercharged V6 that will serve as the XE's performance flagship model, at least until a new SVR version comes along. Both six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmissions are on offer, and overseas buyers will also be able to choose between base SE, mid-range Prestige, opulent Portfolio, dynamic R-Sport and range-topping S trim levels.
Of course not every engine is available in each trim level and with either transmission, so instead of 40 combinations we're looking at 22. Once the XE reaches American showrooms, we'll likely be looking at even fewer, as we're not expecting the manual and diesel versions to be offered Stateside. Stay tuned as well for our live impressions from the floor of the Paris Motor Show. But in the meantime you can scope out all the details and UK specifications in the press release below, along with the short video and the gallery of 74 high-resolution images above.
