1966  Covered Headlight Roadster...If your are anyway familiar with these cars you will know that this is the most desirable Etype made....Covered Headlights...Tri carb...Toggle Switches...Better seats...better Gearbox.....
This car has just seen the light of day since the mid 70s..last registered in 1974....it has been in barn in Weymouth ..Mass . for the last 35 or so years....This car is an excellent restoration project...The previous owner bought the car in 1970 and drove it as his daily driver until 1975...it was then put in his Barn and not touched until the mid 80s when he decided to start restoring the car....with the help of a local mechanic they started to take the front of the car apart....the restoration soon lost momentum and the car just sat for years.....I have know of this car for at least 10 years ,,,,every now and again I would enquire if he was ready to sell....he always said no......recently he said he was ready to sell....
Here is what we have in relation to numbers etc.....
Car Number is 1E12176
Body Number is AE3612
Engine Number   7E71111  9
Gearbox Number EJ 62154
Car numbers are correct...front frame rail matches correctly as does the tag behind the rear licence plate./...
Engine Number on the car shows 7E53918 9
The Head shows no number in the usual spot....I am told that this means that Jaguar supplied a new head to the car at some stage.....to be honest who knows but the car is an honest original car...gearbox number is correct...

The Body     The car was originally British Racing Green with black interior......still BRG in the boot/trunk  also front frame rails.....the body is very solid and the rust that you see in the pictures is the worst of it....boot floor is perfect....only slight scaling....original floors are also very good....scaling only....both floors were jacked incorrectly years ago and have been pushed up a little .....original drain holes still evident.....front frame rails all perfect..........Rust is confined to the rockers........inner rockers are fine.....I have had a local British car specialist look at the car,,, he tells me it is a very straightforward repair......The rust that is pictured on the doors is confined to the door skin and the bottom of the doors are perfect..

The Interior    The interior is actually in very good condition     original dash and gauges are excellent.....window pillars are excellent ..center console and radio section are also very nice.....seats are original and the stitching has split in  few spots.....easily fixable and a new interior is not needed.....restored original is so much nicer...carpet was completely shot so I took them out

Mechanics....the car will need to be gone through.....the previous owner told me that he drove the car into the garage 35 years ago.......the engine is not seized....I put the car into gear and when pushed the engine turns fine.   exhaust is missing

Convertible Top is probably original and with the exception of yellowing of the rear window it is excellent.....no rips or tears...

Chrome....Hard to say....the chrome is very dirty     might clean up to a driver level       it is dent and rust free

Glass....complete and very nice
As I mentioned at the start....when I got the car it was somewhat apart       front suspension was taken apart,,,,radiator was out,,,bonnet was apart...carbs were off exhaust manifolds off,,    peddle box out....steering rack  ...heater box assemble      etc...

I have bolted all this stuff back on the car ......the bonnet is now together but not correctly aligned....I have not bolted it to the subframe yet.....I can tell you that all the parts are there.....the only thing I cant see is the center motife bar......

You are welcome to come and have the car inspected at my home at any time with proper notice....you can contact me through ebay or call me directly at 603 997 9586

2016 Jaguar XF First Drive [w/video]

Thu, Sep 3 2015

Jaguar has never had a problem with style or driving joy. Every generation of the British brand's vehicles – with excuses made and accepted in advance for S-Type and X-Type and other outliers – has offered compelling styling and great performance. New kid XF was no exception when it was introduced in 2007. The car's sheetmetal pointed the way forward for the fully up-to-date range we see now, and its confident engines and handling chops were on pace with the best Bimmers, Benzes, and Cadillacs. The first-generation XF made some hay for Jaguar, selling around 280,000 copies through 2014. But those annualized rates still represented a blip on the luxury midsize radar when viewed against the backdrop of the German Three's numbers. Part of that sales story has been down to the E-Classes and 5 Series of the world being consistently excellent, to be sure. But a lot of the blame can be found in Jaguar's historic weak spots. Grace and pace the brand had in spades, but consumer perception of quality and reliability just weren't there, pricing was typically near the top of the class, and the residual values of the cars were low (a combination of all three factors, most likely). Of course, Jag would love to sell a few more cars. But this time, instead of simply building a great-looking, great-driving new XF (which is absolutely the case), the brand is doing some clever non-engineering-based things to put more big cats in more garages than ever before. The tradeoff of very good ride quality is worth the minute amount of roll. After flying all they way to Spain – Pamplona and the Navarra Circuit, by way of Barcelona and a Range Rover adventure you'll hear about soon – I would be remiss not to tell you how the new XF goes down the road. Some 150 kilometers (93 miles) of motorway and challenging b-roads lie between the city with that annual livestock problem and the 2.44-mile, FIA approved racecourse. A route that led me to understand that this XF, in my case the 380-horsepower XF S, has gained more than it has lost in the generational changeover. The company is fully committed to aluminum for its midsizer, with the new car now using a body structure that's 75-percent built from the stuff. I'm told that means a body in white that weighs just over 600 pounds, and an overall weight savings of 11 percent. Body stiffness has been raised by 28 percent in the process.

Tata to get Jaguar and Land Rover tech, platforms too?

Tue, 22 Jul 2014

Since buying Jaguar Land Rover, Indian automaker Tata has generally left its luxury arm's platforms and technology alone. However, those days might be gone. The two of them are gradually growing closer with coordinated development and rumors of shared platforms. And it looks like all of that work and money is finally going to pay off with an actual vehicle in the near future.
According to Australian website Drive, Tata wants to make its cars more attractive to buyers outside of India, and to do that the company knows it must improve quality. The Indian company is being careful, though, because it doesn't want to dilute the Jaguar or Land Rover brands with cheap models. "You're going to see in the future a lot of sharing of technologies and platforms over time, but you won't see a JLR with a Tata badge on it," said Darren Bowler, managing director of Tata's Australian distributor, to Drive.
According to Bowler, these future vehicles are already on the way. Tata and JLR have a global platform in the works for 2017 that both companies could use for cars or crossovers. He also hinted that Jaguar's new Ingenium engines could be shared among the brands in the future, too.

2014 Jaguar XJR unleashed just ahead of New York show [w/video]

Tue, 26 Mar 2013

Just a week after teasing us with the first image of the car, and mere hours before revealing it to the public at the New York Auto Show, Jaguar has pulled the wraps off of its 2014 XJR super sedan.
The British automaker has confirmed that the XJR will be kicking out a full 550-horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque from its supercharged 5.0-liter V8, affording the sedan a 0-60 mile per hour sprint of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 174 miles per hour. A ZF eight-speed automatic transmission will still allow for respectable fuel economy, as Jag estimates ratings of 15 miles per gallon city and 23 highway.
Newly tuned dampers and stiffer spring rates, along with an electronically controlled differential should ensure that the massive power of the engine isn't wasted in transition to the road. Jaguar has also tweaked steering software and hydraulics, with the goal of increased road feel, response and overall feedback. 20-inch signature wheels carry wide Pirelli rubber (265-section up front, 295 in back) to keep the XJR planted.
