1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4wd, Clear Title And Car Fax (manheim, Pa 17545) on 2040-cars
Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States
This is a reserve auction for a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo LS 4wd. Please email for more information on the car and it is encouraged that you make arrangements to look the car over before placing a bid. The car is located in Manheim, PA 17545 50 minutes west of Philadelphia. The Isuzu is in fair to good condition with a current PA State inspection (Emission exempt), clear title and Car Fax report. Mechanical: The Rodeo runs and drives excellent. There is an issue with a recurring check engine light that needs to be resolved. I have isolated the problem to a P0355 code indicating a problem with an ignition coil. The Rodeo has been mechanically maintained well in my ownership and the engine starts and drives very well. Just recently replaced the exhaust flex pipe, a $400 part and Isuzu of Harrisburg has preformed a factory recall, reundercoating the rear frame bulkhead. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and the 4wd works as it should. New parts include, timing belt, water pump, intake gasket, 3 ignition coils, and Nippon Denso Spark plugs. Exterior: The car is completely original and the body and paint are in excellent condition with minor dings and scratches here and there. The paint color is original with a custom pinstripe. The car has had front-end accident damage repaired as indicated by the Car Fax report, and all the doors open and close properly. There is no apparent rust on the vehicle. I slipped on some ice this past winter and banged the rear bumper as you see. The rear door cannot be opened until the bumper is repaired The rear bumper cover can be purchased on ebay for around $100. Car comes with class III Curt tow hitch. Tow light kit needs to be intalled Tires: The car comes with factory original 15inch steel rims with 235/75/15 Firestone tires. I am including the upgrade (2) 16 inch alloy wheels with 245/70/16 tires. A 16in Spare 245/70 tire is included with jack and wrench. Interior: The upholstered Isuzu seats are in excellent condition. The dash has no cracks, and comes with a premium factory Isuzu AM/FM stereo system with 6-disk CD changer. All climate controls work, there is A/C that may need to be recharged. All electric devices are fully functional with electric rear window and side mirror defrost that worked great this past cold winter. This car runs great in tall-unplowed snow with a push-button, shift on the fly 4wd. The 4wd Low manual shifter shifts smoothly. Factory original owners manual is included. Please note that this car is being sold ‘AS IS’ with a reserve price and it is encouraged that you make arrangements to look the car over before placing a bid. GM-Isuzu joint venture assembles 1.5-millionth Duramax diesel
Wed, 21 Nov 2012General Motors and Isuzu have officially stitched together 1.5 million Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engines. The joint venture between the two manufacturers started in 1998, and now the DMAX plant employs 517 workers in a 584,000 square-foot facility. GM introduced the Duramax turbo diesel engine to the US market for the 2001 model year, and it can be found trucks like the Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD as well as the full-size Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans. In its current configuration, the engine yields 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque at just 1,600 rpm.
Of course, the big oil burner has plenty of tuning potential as well. As you may recall, a Duramax-powered truck recently set the land speed record for towing a vehicle at 142 miles per hour.
GM owns 60 percent of the joint venture, with Isuzu laying claim to the remaining 40 percent. The facility is located in Chicago. You can take a look at the brief press release below for more information on the milestone.
16 things I learned about the Isuzu VehiCROSS
Wed, Apr 8 2020There are plenty of cars I remember existing, but actually know very little about due to the passage of time or just not particularly caring when they were new. Take the Isuzu VehiCROSS, which I fondly recall as this wackadoo off-roader from the late 1990s and early 2000s. But honestly, that's about it. So, since I've got a little extra time kicking about, I decided to fall into the rabbit hole labeled Isuzu VehiCROSS for an hour to see how much I could find out about this SUV (or "sport/utility" in 1999 parlance) that shared labeling with the watch I wore in 1999. Enjoy. 1) The VehiCROSS was not based on the Rodeo, as I always assumed, but rather the Trooper RS. Oh, so that bigger, boxier Isuzu they turned into an Acura? No, no, no. The RS was the two-door Trooper, and specifically the second-generation two-door Trooper, which I just discovered was a thing. And what a gawky, dorky, that-has-to-be-Photoshopped thing it was. Apparently, the Trooper RS was sold in the United States from 1993 to 1995, and in very small numbers. That is not surprising. 2) It was probably obvious, but the VehiCROSS was based on a concept car. Specifically, a concept car shown at the 1993 Tokyo auto show. 3) The quick turnaround from concept to its Japanese market introduction for 1997 was the result of some innovative manufacturing methods at the time (it arrived in the United States in 1999). According to the Motor Trend first drive, "There would be no time-consuming clinics, no 'courtroom drama' with the finance department, and to oversee the project, a 'Zip Team' consisting of 15-20 members was given the task of developing the vehicle in about half the normal time." Among its accomplishments, the team came up with a way to more quickly and cheaply produce the VehiCROSS' unique body pieces. Again according to Motor Trend, Isuzu used carbon stamping dies inside of the conventional cast iron dies. Though the carbon could be used far fewer times and result in a reduced overall capacity, they cost one-third to one-half as much and could be made in about six weeks – the cast iron ones would take four months and run about $1.5 million in 1990s dollars. Isuzu estimated they'd only be able to produce 2,400 VehiCROSSes per year until the carbon dies wore out. Then that would be it. According to sales data on Wikipedia, Isuzu managed to sell 2,005 in the U.S. alone in year 1 and 4,153 in total. In Japan, there were 1,805 sold in total.
Junkyard Gem: 1980 Chevrolet LUV Mikado
Sat, Oct 9 2021During the 1970s and into the 1980s, each member of the Detroit Big Three imported Japanese small pickups and sold them with Ford (Mazda Proceed), Dodge/Plymouth (Mitsubishi Forte), or Chevrolet (Isuzu Faster) badges here. Ford developed the Ranger and killed the Courier for 1983 (though Americans could still buy the Mazda-badged version all the way through 1993), while The General axed the LUV after the S-10 debuted in the 1982 model year. Isuzu sold the same truck as the P'up through 1987, though, and we might as well follow up our recent P'up Junkyard Gem with its LUV predecessor. LUV stood for Light Utility Vehicle, and I've managed to spot a handful in the boneyards over the years. This one now resides in a yard in northeastern Colorado. The Mikado trim package included striped seat upholstery and a sporty steering wheel, plus these cool dash badges. As far as I can tell, no LUV Mikado advertising featured any Gilbert and Sullivan tunes. This one is fairly rusty for Front Range Colorado, and it has endured a bed swap from some other small truck. The engine is the 75-horse Isuzu 1.8-liter. Members of this engine family went into everything from Chevy Chevettes to Isuzu Troopers in the United States. Very unusually for a small pickup during the Malaise Era, this one has a luxurious automatic transmission. Acceleration must have been a leisurely affair in this truck. Air conditioning? Unheard of! Someone stuck every one of their lunchtime apple stickers on the driver's door. After 41 years of work, this truck is done. Come on strong in a LUV of your own!
