I am pleased to offer this 2001 Isuzu Rodeo LS Automatic that has sustained light tail end damage. This vehicle was purchased directly from an insurance auction for resale in the condition you see it in the pictures. In the state of Texas and only in the state of Texas this car has a rebuilt/salvage title but I do have a clean Colorado title (no-liens) in hand and ready to transfer to the new owner. The rear door suffers a medium sized dent and the bumper will need to be replaced but there is no damage to the chassis, it is fully intact. The front of the car shows very light damage but the frame is straight and front cooling components (radiator, condenser, fans etc.) are OK, I did not notice any leaks. The rest of the body has obvious scratches and cracking as seen in the photos. Good news is that the car starts, engine runs great, goes into gear and I was able to drive it home 30 miles from the auction. No observed damage to the engine or transmission. Interior is very clean and as seen in the photos, all airbags are good!

The Check Engine light has been on since I purchased the vehicle and the first thing I did was read the codes at the auction and a few codes came up that were all air-related. I then cleared those codes, drove it 30 miles home and re-read the codes. This time, the only code that came up was P0401 for a faulty EGR valve, which can cheaply and easily be replaced.  The stereo turns on but for some reason there is no noise. I connected my iPod to the aux connection and at first I still couldn’t hear anything but after moving the stereo around and messing around with the settings, I could hear the music fine. Please message me if you need more pictures or have any questions.

Buyer is responsible for the pickup or shipping of this vehicle. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly cooperate, I recommend using Uship for the lowest rates.

Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time. Per eBay policy, a $500.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of end of auction and the remainder is due within 5 days of auction end. I will accept PayPal, cash in person, or business check as forms of payment.

This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty of any kind.

Thank you and happy bidding!!!

Junkyard Gem: 1996 Isuzu Trooper

Fri, Sep 9 2022

Though Americans had been buying the Isuzu-built Chevrolet LUV pickup since the 1972 model year (plus plenty of Isuzu-derived Chevettes and Chevette components later on), the first widely available Isuzu-badged vehicle available here was the LUV-sibling P'Up. That was the 1981 model year, and the I-Mark (Gemini) and Impulse (Piazza) soon followed. Later in the 1980s, GM (which owned a hefty chunk of Isuzu by that time) began selling Isuzu-built Spectrums and Storms with Chevrolet and/or Geo badges… but Isuzu started its United States business by selling trucks, and that's the only type of Isuzu you could buy new here when the company departed our shores in 2009. The Trooper SUV first went on sale here for the 1984 model year, and eventually the Trooper became the biggest-selling Isuzu in North America. Here's an example from the sales heyday of the middle 1990s, found in a Colorado self-service yard. In its homeland, this truck was known as the Bighorn. Elsewhere around the globe, however, it went by far too many names to list here (though Trooper was the most common). Highlights include the Holden Jackaroo and Caribe 442. Honda's desperation to cash in on the 1990s North American SUV craze led to the creation of an Acura-badged Trooper, known as the SLX and sold here from the 1996 through 1999 model years. As part of this arrangement between Isuzu, GM, and Honda, the Isuzu Rodeo became the Honda Passport here (confusing every North American who had ever bought a Passport-badged Honda Super Cub, which got that name so as not to run afoul of the builders of the Piper Super Cub aircraft) and Isuzu dealers sold Honda Odysseys with Oasis badges. Once we'd gotten a few years into our current century, the only Isuzu-badged vehicles you could buy new here (not counting commercial trucks) weren't even built by Isuzu at that point. One was the Ascender (a badge-engineered Chevy Trailblazer) and the other was the i-Series pickup (a badge-engineered Chevy Colorado). Oh, sure, a handful of Axioms and Rodeos slunk out of American Isuzu showrooms in the early years of the 2000s, but the clock really started ticking for Isuzu USA when the final Troopers showed up for 2002. When this truck was built, Isuzu was engaged in an eye-gouging, kidney-spearing price- and financing-deal war with Mitsubishi Motors and its Montero.

Could this Isuzu Mysterious be an affordable 90s gem?

Tue, Mar 21 2023

The Isuzu Rodeo holds a special place in rad car fans’ hearts, as it was the basis for another beloved off-roader, the original Honda Passport. The five-door Isuzu SUV lasted here for several years before being discontinued in the early 2000s, but the automaker sold funky two-door body styles in other markets, and one of the now-legal imports has made its way to Cars & Bids. Though our version had the somewhat mundane “Rodeo” title, the SUV was known as the “MU” or Mysterious Utility. This Japanese-market version comes with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel and a five-speed manual transmission. This one has around 121,000 miles and looks in decent shape. Interestingly, the two-door MU almost has a Mitsubishi Pajero Evo vibe, with its beefy fender flares and cropped, lifted body. Amazingly, the auctionÂ’s statement that the SUV is barely modified is accurate, as its only upgrades include a new stereo and those funky gold wheels. The Mysterious has drawn several comments, mainly from curious observers asking questions about a vehicle theyÂ’ve never seen. One wondered whether the MysteriousÂ’ top is removable, which unfortunately is not the case. Some versions, including the Isuzu Amigo, which we got, came with a removable soft top. One commenter noted that the tops donÂ’t age well, so the hardtop is likely the best choice for a 31-year-old imported SUV.   Though many JDM vehicles from this era are sometimes exceedingly difficult to import and equally expensive, the Mysterious sits at just $3,500 halfway through its auction. ItÂ’s got all the hallmarks to be a Radwood-ready bargain, too. The bright red paint and gold accents give it just enough flash, and versions of the diesel engine are still in production in China, so it might be somewhat reasonable to find parts. GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
