2000 Limited Edition Ironman Triathlon 4wd Isuzu Amigo Low Miles Many Extras on 2040-cars
Lumberton, New Jersey, United States
Here's a great 2000 Isuzu Amigo. Ironman Triathlon Limited Edition with very low mileage that has served me very well for 9 years! Since I have 2 vehicles and also work from home, the mileage stays pretty low. I am the second owner and have all paperwork for everything that has been mechanically performed for this vehicle since I've owned it. The oil has been changed every 3000 miles, it has almost new Goodyear Wrangler tires, and is extremely clean inside and out! I have running boards for it, but just never put them on and will include them as well. I also have an extra sun roof and storage bag for same, and a soft top for it. The soft top needs a little TLC since I haven't put the soft top on it in a while, so it's been sitting in my garage. I also have printed instructions on how to put the soft top on and take it back off. I gotta say I love this vehicle and if they still made them in the US, I'd be getting another, they run forever, and are a blast to drive!!! It's a V6 and 4WD with all the bells and whistles for the time it was made, like a 6 disc CD with a really decent sound system. Of course, all this can be upgraded, but honestly, the sound system's sounds pretty good and my other vehicle is a 1994 RX7 twin turbo with a Bose system in it, so I've definitely heard some good systems. Also has keyless entry, power windows and mirrors. The a/c and heat work great as well.
Since this is the Limited Ed Ironman Triathlon, it has a beefed up suspension and stabilization system. The engine runs like a top and as far as I know everything works perfectly on this vehicle. It just passed NJ inspection (I live near Mt. Laurel, NJ in case you want to take it for a drive) in June and here are the only issues with the vehicle, which are not really issues, but worth mentioning: When the tank gets below one quarter full, the "check engine" light comes on, when you put gas in the vehicle, it readjusts itself and goes off. I've had this checked out and have found that the fuel tank sensor needs to be replaced, but never saw the need to spend the money on it since I know what it is and the light always goes out after I put gas in her. If you want to put a new sensor in, that would take care of the problem....I just never did. I just considered it one of her little "quirks". The other issue is that one of the anti-lock sensors broke on the front driver's side and after a $619 repair (I have all copies of repairs done on this vehicle and well as the large mechanical workbook for it) because the routers and calipers had to be redone because when the sensor broke it chewed into the wheel and since it had to be repaired on one side, had to be fixed on the other as well. So that being said, it now has regular brakes which work perfectly fine, just doesn't have anti-lock brakes. This is also an easy solution, if you want to spend the money to do it....they sell the parts for it on ebay actually and the shop where I've always had all my repairs done told me they'd be happy to put the sensor assembly on, if I provide the parts. I have all the info if you would want to do that, or if you are mechanically inclined yourself, it is something you could do yourself after you get the parts. But the vehicle drives just fine, stops just fine so after spending $619, I didn't really feel like spending more. Also, as shown in one of the photos, the black detailing has started to come off on the driver's side of the Amigo. I'm sure it can be repaired as well. Other than these issues, the truck runs great and has lots of life left in her! The interior is in great condition, no tears on the seats or anything. Guess the front mats could use a shampoo, but otherwise the interior is in great shape. I take good cars of my vehicles! The exterior is also in great condition, but I didn't wax it this spring, so a waxing would just make it look better. No real rust issues, just a tiny bit under the bottom rim near the back of the side panel. You cannot really see it unless you bend down and look underneath. Otherwise, no rust problems, no dents and no scratches to speak of. All in all, this Amigo is in amazing shape with super low mileage. PLEASE BE AWARE I HAVE THIS VEHICLE LISTING LOCALLY AND ON OTHER SITES, so if you'd like to come over and take her for a ride, please let me know. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time because it is listed other places, so if you are interested PLEASE GET IN TOUCH. I have a feeling she will sell quickly. If I forgot to mention anything, please ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE, as I may have forgotten something. Of course, this Amigo is SOLD AS IS, but honestly, to my knowledge, there are no other issues other than what I've mentioned, and it has always been very well maintained. You get many years of fun with her, just like I did! |

Junkyard Gem: 1984 Isuzu P'up
Sat, Aug 7 2021General Motors, wishing to sell a small pickup to compete with the likes of the Toyota Hilux and Nissan 521, began importing the Isuzu Faster for the 1972 model year, equipping it with Chevrolet LUV badges. Ford brought over the Mazda Proceed as the Courier the same year, while Chrysler turned to Mitsubishi to provide the Plymouth Arrow Truck and Dodge Ram 50 a bit later on. Once GM introduced the all-Detroit S-10 for the 1982 model year, however, the LUV's reign ended. Fortunately for fans of the Light Utility Vehicle, Isuzu began selling these trucks under its own badging here in 1981. This truck was called the P'up, and sales continued through 1987. Here's one of those P'ups, found in a Denver boneyard last month. This truck has the long-bed option. The purple paint and black stripes appear to be non-factory items, as the engine-compartment paint is silver. Under the hood, we see the 1.9-liter G200Z engine, as used in the Impulse and early Trooper. It had 86 horsepower on tap, which made this truck quite a bit zippier than the version with the 58-horse diesel (several decades back, I had a job that involved driving a diesel P'up and I can state from experience that the oil-burning P'up was an agonizingly slow machine). Still, this truck must have been on the poky side, what with its (optional) three-speed automatic transmission. What's this— air conditioning in a compact pickup? That was still something of a blasphemous idea in the middle 1980s. Someone installed a functional cold-air induction system involving an aftermarket air cleaner protruding from the hood, above the carburetor. Let's hope there was a filter element in here, because it doesn't do a carb any good to suck in bugs and dirt (not to mention filling with water while parked outdoors during rainstorms). This is by far the most common sticker found on vehicles in Denver-area wrecking yards. The Incredibles Empire appears to get mightier with each passing day, though I see plenty of stickers from other cannabis-related businesses in these yards. Fox Street Wellness is still around, though under a new name. What better vehicle for picking up a bag of Girl Scout Cookies weed ("best reserved for experienced cannabis consumers") than a purple P'up with hood-mounted air cleaner? Today, the Purple P'up's final parking spot is just a few miles to the north of this dispensary.
Junkyard Gem: 1992 Geo Storm
Mon, May 15 2017GM's Geo brand existed from the 1989 through 1997 model years. While mostly remembered today for the Suzuki Cultus-based Metro (which continued to be sold with Chevrolet badging until 2001), there were also Geo Prizms (California-built Toyota Corollas), Geo Spectrums (Isuzu I-Mark), Geo Trackers (Suzuki Sidekick), and Geo Storms (Isuzu Impulse). Storms are very rare now, but I found this one in Colorado last week. The idea of the Geo brand was that it would lure young car buyers in a way that wouldn't be possible with stodgy brands such as Oldsmobile or Buick. While GM never sold as many Geos as hoped, enough hit American roads that they were pretty numerous for a while. 1980s-style pink-and-blue graphics remained relevant into the early 1990s. I'm not sure if these pink decal stripes were done at the factory, at a dealership, or later on in someone's back yard. The Storm GSi was the factory-hot-rod version, but this is an ordinary Storm with the 95-horsepower, 12-valve engine. Automatic transmission, of course. It never made it to 100,000 miles. The car seems to be in good shape, so perhaps something broke at about age 10 and it sat in a garage for the next 15 years. This content is hosted by a third party. Junkyard Gem: 1992 Isuzu Amigo
Mon, Jan 16 2023After some success providing General Motors with small Faster pickups badged as Chevrolet LUVs in North America (plus some Chevette-related Geminis labeled "Buick/Opel by Isuzu," which confused everybody), Isuzu began selling vehicles under its own name here in the early 1980s. At first, we just got I-Mark subcompacts and P'up pickups. Then the Trooper SUV appeared in 1984, and Isuzu joined the suburban-commuter truck game in a big way. For the 1989 model year, the little Amigo three-door convertible SUV landed on our shores. Here's one of those early trucks, found in still-rad condition in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service yard recently. Once Isuzu made a version with five doors and a solid roof, giving it Rodeo badges in the process, the Amigo became more of an afterthought in the North American Isuzu world. Amigo sales halted here after 1995, then resumed for 1998-2000 (after which the three-door became the Rodeo Sport before disappearing in 2003). Starting in 1996, Isuzu replaced its Amigo-platform-related pickup with a rebadged Chevy S-10 known as the Hombre. That meant that Spanish-speaking Isuzu shoppers could be disturbed by the prospect of buying a friend or a man. The Isuzu company itself was named after a river in Mie Prefecture. The Suzuki Samurai kicked off the "cute-ute" craze for the 1986 model year, with the Suzuki Sidekick/Geo Tracker appearing in 1989. Around the same time, irritating pastel colors and squiggly graphics became trendy. This — and other unfortunate 1980s fashions — continued well into the 1990s (One man's "irritating" and "unfortunate" is another's "delightful" - Ed). This odometer can't be right! I suspect a broken speedometer cable. The engine is a 2.6-liter inline-four rated at 119 horsepower. Unlike Honda's VTEC, the variable-cam-timing system that made its debut in the 1989 Honda Integra, Isuzu's I-TEC name just stood for an electronic fuel injection system. The only transmission in the Amigo for the first couple of years was a five-speed manual, which is in this truck. That three-pedal setup kept the Amigo's appeal limited to the small group of American drivers willing to work a clutch. The optional automatic became available for 1992. You could get the Amigo with four-wheel drive, but this one is the cheaper rear-wheel-drive version. This interior looks so nice that perhaps this Amigo really did get junked with 57,000+ on the odometer.
