BEAUTIFUL 1979 INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER TRAVELER

Up for auction is one of the nicest IH Scout Travelers you will find.

It is equiped with the factory 345 with its original (but rebuilt) Thermoquad 4bbl. carb.  Factory 727 Torqueflight 3 speed automatic, Dana 20 two speed transfer case and Dana 44 front and rear axles (disk/drum) with 3.73 gears. Factory A/C and cruise.

Condition:
Engine starts up every turn of the key, no smoke, no lifter noise.  The mileage listed is original and is approximate as it gets pulled out and driven every now and then.  This truck was originally sold in Lawton, Oklahoma to it's original owner in Marlow, Oklahoma.  The current owner purchased the truck from this original owner in 199 with just over 63,000 miles on it.  The engine has never been opened on it and it runs stronger than any 345 I've driven.

The transmission was professionally rebuilt at 65,000 miles and shifts nice and smooth.

The transfer case shifts in and out smoothly and the hubs turn freely.  The 4x4 works exactly as it should.

The tires are 30x9.50R15 Uniroyal Laredo's put on at 78,099 miles.  They are like new and mounted on a set of IH Ralley wheels.  The wheels show a few places of flaking in the chrome and some small surface rust.

The vehicle was painted IH bright white in 1993.  Some rust repairs were made at that time with lead.  It has been stored inside since its repaint and not driven in any adverse weather.  There are a few small bubbles in front of the passenger wheel well that are not through the paint.  They should be visible in the posted pictures.  A few small paint chips have been touched up over the years but you have to look for them.  It has the front and rear factory bumpers with nice chrome.  The rear bumper has a very small ding in it.  The plastic grill has a small crack in one of the ribs but it does not go all the way through.

The interior is the ORIGINAL russet plaid.  It is far and away the best original upholstery I have ever seen in an old Scout.  The seats are in great shape and are very comfortable.  It has the passenger area carpet as well as the sidewall carpets.  They are in great shape.  The cargo area came with the russet rubber mat that is in fair condition and is currently covered with an aftermarket piece of carpet.  The factory dash is perfect with no cracks, or owner drilled holes.  The armrests, door panels and center consoles are all excellent.

The AC system was gone through in June of 2010 at a cost of $896.00 and it all functions perfectly.

The gauges all function properly with the exception of the speedometer.  It low pegs at 20mph (reads 20mph at a stop).  It maintains this consistent 20mph over throughout the range.  This is probably an easy fix however the current owner stated he just was used to it and never bothered with fixing it.

The original factory AM/FM radio is still installed and functions well with the factory front and rear speakers.

The shift boots and door seals are all in good shape.  The side windows have had the seals replaced when painted and the "gap" was filled with a black "goo".  It seals well but I would probably fix it to complete the vehicle.

All the glass is perfect with no chips or cracks.  It has a very nice tint job.

A new radiator was installed in July of 2010.

A new power steering pump and hose were installed in November of 2013.

The only known mechanical problems are the aforementioned speedometer problem and the cruise control is not functioning.

This vehicle has shown well in some smaller car shows in the past and with a little work would do well in any show around.

This vehicle has a clear Oklahoma title and the tags are current.  It come with a Line Set Ticket (pictured) and a stack of receipts.

I have driven this Scout on the interstate at 75 mph and it cruises along smoother and nicer than any other Scout I have been in.

This vehicle is from the collection of a long time IH collector in Oklahoma City.  I have agreed to help him "thin the herd".  I have attempted to describe this vehicle to the best of my abilities but if you have further questions please call me at 405-880-6621.  You may inspect, or have the vehicle inspected (at your expense) in Oklahoma City, with prior arrangements.

Legal Junk:
This vehicle is sold "as-is", "where-is" and "with all faults".  There is no warranty expressed or implied.  A $500.00 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of auctions close (pay pal preferred).  The winning bidder is encouraged to pick up the vehicle in Oklahoma City but I will assist the buyer in meeting shippers locally and helping with "reasonable" requests made by the buyer to get the vehicle to them. Balance due will be paid in full with cash or verified funds upon pick up.  This vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction prior to the first bid being made.

Bid with confidence.  The starting bid is the reserve and a bargain for this Scout!  If you bid, you can buy it!  Good Luck!
