All original 1978 International Scout 2. 345 v8 with Torqueflight 727 automatic transmission. Power steering, power disc brakes. Bucket seats with shifter in the floor and console. Dana 44 axles front and rear. I was told the engine and transmission were rebuilt around 160k miles and it has in the 21x,xxx range now. Steering is still good and tight. It has factory a/c and the compressor still kicks on when the switch is on (not blowing cold, just isn't seized up).
The Scout has been sitting for the past few years, but I was told it was driven daily up until then. The engine runs smooth and isn't noisy. I recently rebuilt the original Holley carb and it will start right up and idle fine. It has an exhaust leak at a doughnut gasket that. Slight hesitation during acceleration that is probably caused by the exhaust leak. American Racing black 15" wheels. The only thing the Scout really needs to be a daily driver is tires.
The Scout's frame is very solid with no visible damage. It has some exterior rust in the quarters, rockers, and on the lower fenders. The floor pans and the rest of the Scout are solid. All of the body mounts are solid.
The interior is in decent shape. All of the factory pieces are still there and functional. All gauges work properly along with all interior and exterior lights. The seat covers show some wear but still sit fine. Steering wheel doesn't seem to have any cracks in it. All of the glass is good. The hardtop is rust free and still has the original headliner. A Kayline soft top and complete frame are included. The soft top skin could be repaired but doesn't look to be in very good shape. The soft top frame is in excellent condition. The hard top has a set of removable Yakima crossbars installed over the original roofrack.
It is getting very hard to find complete Scout's that aren't hacked up or in pieces. I recommend coming to inspect the Scout and giving it a test drive prior to bidding. Please ask any questions you might have.
