I have a 73 International Scout up for sale with NO RESERVE!. These scouts are getting harder to find without a total rust out. I have had a few scouts over the past few years and I like to buy them fix them up and drive them for a bit and then sell them. Its my hobby and I know most everything about them and I love to keep them on the road. This Scout had the regular rust issues but it was all pretty minor except for the passenger side floor board. When I looked and seen that all of the braces were in good shape and it was just the pan that needed to be replaced then I was willing to fix it. I have done the following on the Scout over the past 4 months:
* New radiator
* New passenger side full floor pan from super scout specialists( see photo below)
* Patched all other smaller holes so that all floors are solid( see photo below)
* Sprayed the entire front and back bed with bedliner( see photo below). The Back bed only had one spot by the tailgate that need to to be taken care of and I used the Por15 fill for it.
* Rebuilt Holley 2 barrel Carb
* New valve cover gaskets
* New shocks front and back
* Fixed all small rust problems except the drivers side by the windshield. This area needs more attention before final paint.( See photo below)
* Painted entire Scout with Flat black primer and it looks pretty good but will need to have a final paint job if you want it to be perfect. It still has some dents and on the top that need to be addressed. ( see photos below)
* All lights work including side markers.
* New Battery
* New Alternator
* Does not smoke and runs awesome
* Dual cherry bomb exhaust
* 4x4 with lock o matic works great!
Other items on the Scout:
It has the 345 V8 with the 4 speed manual transmission
It has lockers in the rear
Runs great
The Bad:
It needs a headliner if you are going to use the top. ( its just white metal now)
It needs new weather stripping all the way around
Tires are not matching so you might want to think about getting matching tires.
It has a crack in the windshield
The speedometer does not work so the mileage I'm sure is not correct. The fuel meter does not work either.
It does has some oil leaks due to the age of the Scout. I replaced the valve cover gaskets but it still has some leaks from the pan.
Dash is cracked but is there.
If you are looking for a great running Scout that looks decent and can 4 wheel then this is your scout. Its 40 years old so it does have rattles. But drives down the road very nice. If you are looking for a restoration project it has a long way to go. Great Scout for the money!
