International Harvester Scout II with 4 WD and IH 304 V8 engine
"All gasoline engines offered were made by IH including the v304. Fortunately for a restorer, the effects of time and initial sales of this rival to the Jeep, makes the ROI on my reserve price and that commanded by a full restoration quite attractive. The condition of this vehicle is too good to be destroyed, but needs an owner that can restore its original glory and the profit that may bring. How can I identify my IH V8 engine? Check on the right side of the engine towards the front, on the side of the block there is flat spot about the size of a domino, just below the cylinder head and exhaust manifold. The engine size is stamped in this location. SSII *sales* figure (not production figure) for 1979 = 491 SSIIs http://www.superscoutspecialists.com/store/t-faq.aspx When an IH Vehicle was ordered, a Factory build or construction sheet is created (when order is sent to the factory) with the new vehicles Vin or ID number, all the codes for standard equipment and options the salesman used to create this vehicle for his customer or inventory. This sheet is used to assemble the vehicle from beginning to finish. After the factory assembles the vehicle and the vehicle is shipped and sold, the Lineticket identifies such things as the engine type, transmission type, drive line, paint codes, gear ratio, and standard and optional equipment, specific to that vehicle. This was and still is a very valuable tool when ordering parts later at the dealership by the customer. A very small copy of the Lineticket was attached to each vehicle in different places during the building process at the factory. 1977- '80 Scout II's had its copies on the inside of the glove box door. The fading original lineticket is posted.
To tell the AMC engine from IH's own V8s, look at the thermostat housing. AMC is round. IH is rectangular. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Harvester_Scout Although the Scout was occasionally equipped with engines manufactured by American Motors, all Scout V-8s were manufactured by International, so the International 304 cubic-inch is not to be confused with the American Motors' 304 with the same displacement. http://www.ehow.com/how_7929458_identify-international-scout-v8.html TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Car is sold AS IS WHERE IS. I am not the original owner. Therefore, I cannot make affirmative statements about the history of the vehicle prior to my ownership. I can say that the vehicle is able to be driven, as I do drive it. I can say that the vehicle passed the required Utah safety and emission inspection applicable to it. Working doors are required for the purpose of passing an inspection in Utah. However, given the effects of gravity and age, people are known to remove the doors when actually using these vehicles in the field. Buyer will need to rekey the back lock. No radio is provided. TO BID YOU MUST BE OVER 18 and pay with a money order, cashiers check or wire transfer. Please do not bid without the intent to finalize this transaction. Winning bidders that do not finalize will receive negative feedback. Sorry, NO bid retractions allowed in the last 24 hours of the auction, ask questions BEFORE you bid. ALL SALES ARE FINAL WITH CAR BEING SOLD WHERE IS, AS IS. ! ...Please, ASK if you have a question! Seller reserves the right to end auction early. Email will be answered PROMPTLY. Bidders with less than 10 feedbacks MUST email us before bidding showing their intent to purchase the vehicle. The vehicle is offered with a right to a personal inspection by any bidder or agent of any bidder, whether a buyer decides to inspect a vehicle themselves/have a 3rd party inspection or make no inspection at all. All used vehicles should be assumed to have some degree of wear. No vehicle is perfect to everyone. Each vehicle has its strengths, styles, tendencies and shortcomings. Therefore, despite our best efforts to verify a vehicle's mechanical condition, we are not able to warranty a manufacturer’s workmanship or previous owner’s diligence in care. It is for this reason that all vehicles are sold "AS IS". We have described the above mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability. However, with all pre-owned automobiles, the condition is subjective. Please be advised that no oral or written statements concerning any vehicle constitutes a representation or warranty of the condition of the said vehicle. You need to check with your local goverment for any special rules regarding these older vehicles passing inspections. We are not liable for any vehicle not passing inspection for your area. If for any reason you recieve your vehicle and have buyers remorse, if you are not happy with the vehicle or just don't want it for any reason we will cheerfully offer our condolences. You WILL be responsible for a restocking fee that will equal 80% of the purchase price of the vehicle. You will also be responsible for shipping the vehicle back to me at your expense. The vehicle is available for inspection prior to bidding. I encourage a physical inspection strongly to avoid any misunderstandings or representations. All disputes arising out of or resulting from this sale shall be finally determined by binding arbitration in Herriman, Utah in accordance with the commercial rules of arbitration of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitration shall be carried out by one or more arbitrators in accordance with said rules. All costs incident to arbitration shall be the sole responsibility of the BUYER. Any award shall be enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction in the same manner as judgments. This agreement to arbitrate shall survive the sale of the automobile described herein. Buyer and Seller hereby agree that Utah law shall control for all purposes under this Bill of Sale. Buyer and Seller hereby consent to the personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts of Utah to specifically enforce the agreement to arbitrate and to enter judgment of and enforce the award of the arbitrator. All above terms and conditions are applied to vehicle sales, whether through Ebay or otherwise. Sorry, but in all fairness to the bidding process, I will NOT disclose my reserve price until the auction has ended. PAYMENT TERMS: Payment must be made by Cashiers Check, Money Orders, Wire Transfers payable in US Dollars, or the equivilent of the US DOLLAR amount in specified cryptocurrency (BITCOIN, DOGECOIN, LITECOIN). Final payment balance due must be received within seven (7) days of the auction close. I will not be responsible for buyers remorse or problems found to said vehicle once they have left my property. This is a vintage auto that has been maintained in a condition suitable to pass Utah inspection laws for safety and emissions. However, by its age, it ought to be obvious that it is not in showroom brand new condition. It will need TLC and some degree of attention sooner or later or perhaps more extensive restoration to command a resell price by you that is several times higher than your purchase price. My reserve price, to me, is a fair middle ground on a path for you to fully restore this vehicle and perhaps have a significant return on your investment as a collectible vehicle. This is not a new cars and should not be bid upon as such. Once the deposit payment has been received, I, as the Seller, will email a .pdf copy of the clear title, to the Buyer. Transportation will commence only after final payment and signed documentation are received. DELIVERY OF VEHICLE TITLE and BILL OF SALE: Upon confirmation of full payment of funds owed, which by cryptocurrency is almost nearly instantaneous and the least expensive means to transfer, in my experience, the title and Bill of Sale will be sent to you by a trackable means of your choice (USPS, FEDEX, UPS). DELIVERY OF VEHICLE: Upon confirmation of full payment of funds owed, the vehicle will be shipped to you by whatever means you inform me to do via email. Upon successful bid, notify me how you want to accept delivery. That is, do you want it shipped to you, or will you take delivery in person? If you want it shipped notify me of the details that you have made with your shipping service. A possible payment method, which, if not available to you, does not relieve you of the obligation to pay the successful bid price within the time limit is the third party auto dealership, lowbook.com. They indicated to me that it will finance an auto sale between private individuals. If you want to use that method, you have to make arrangement between yourself and lowbook.com to pay me. If the vehicle is not financed to you by lowbook.com, an escrow service that conforms to the method of sale defined only by the SELLER must be used for other than cash in person or cryptocoin (BITCOIN, DOGECOIN, LITECOIN) payment. An escrow service that inserts criteria contrary to the SELLER's instructions shall not be accepted by the SELLER, nor used. The BUYER shall be responsible to pay the escrow fee. Payment by cryptocurrency (BITCOIN, DOGECOIN, LITECOIN) is encouraged for speed of transfer, lower cost than wire transfer / escrow fees, and the ability to quickly verify that a payment was made. Payment from outside the United States must be in BITCOIN, DOGECOIN, or LITECOIN, using the US$ exchange rate posted at Pay to addresses for cryptocurrencies: BITCOIN (1Ni2A2L7rdUAdcxV47hqMBz2VvwL4xpEKQ) LITECOIN (LbaEShMdsDdH8qfX2ybusKoE3PraDEZcjc) DOGECOIN (DN4T3dE23a1Y2B3avJLd2QwYwvrjKkNrVn) In all cases, the BUYER is responsible to pay mining and exchange fees. WARRANTY: ALL SALES ARE FINAL WITH CAR BEING SOLD WHERE IS, AS IS. ! ...Please, ASK if you have a question! Seller reserves the right to end auction early. Email will be answered PROMPTLY. The vehicle is offered with a right to a personal inspection by any bidder or agent of any bidder. The Vehicle is being sold by a PRIVATE PERSON in the State of Utah, United States of America. Any Utah resident must pay local UT sales tax and licensing fees. All other will do so in their home state. The vehicle is available for inspection prior to bidding. I encourage a physical inspection strongly to avoid any misunderstandings or representations. I am not the original owner. Therefore, I cannot make affirmative statements about the history of the vehicle prior to my ownership. Professional dealership sometimes say their cars are "certified used". That is a jargon phrase. I can say this vehicle is "unquestionably used". I can say that the vehicle is able to be driven, as I do drive it. I can say that the vehicle passed the required Utah safety and emission inspection applicable to it. I do not say or warrant anything more than that.
