1978 International Harvester Scout II 4WD

This vechicle was purchased brand new by one Harold R Ascher. He purchased it as a utility/plow truck for his funeral home. Harold was a very particular buyer, he knew what he needed and he knew what he wanted. On 10-38-1978, he went into Keeley International Tucks Inc. of West Springfield, Massachusetts and purchased this vechicle with the optional plow accessory. He explained that he was paying for it in full and that is must be ready for delivery by 11-6-1978 or the deal was off. There was a winter nor easter due to hit the area and Harold wanted to be prepared for it. The Scout II was ready in time for Harolds pick up date. The Scout II performed well and plowed the funeral home parking lot for a couple of years. It was always parked in a heated garage. It has remained in a heated garage its entire life. Having just passed its 35th birthday a few weeks ago and having only 6,418 original miles on the odometer, its possibly the lowest milage 1978 Scout II in THE WORLD.

This vechicle was Ziebarted before delivery to Harold (see photos) and helped greatly in preserving this red beauty even thou body work and painting was done as needed. It has had only one high quality paint job. All external trim, optional rear step bumper, etc are in EXCELLENT condition, including the 4 original factory wheels. Minor imperfections to original grill on front of vechicle probably due to the plow being on it 35 years ago. Overall near stunning exterior look. The interior is all original and in great condition. The front seat does show some wear marks and thread splitting (see photos). All seat belts are in place and in correct working condition and is believed to never had a passenger seated on it. Only tools and items needed for the funeral home were ever placed there. Out back behind the rear seat is the original untouched spare tire and cover. The spare has never touched the ground. The glass is all in great condition. Oh, and of course the original AM Radio works also.

The 304-V8 engine, T-407 3 Speed Automatic Transmission, TC-145 Transfer case and RA18 Rear axle with 3.07 Ratio, as well as the FA44 front axle with 3.07 Ratio are ALL ORIGINAL matching numbered components. They are all factory installed items. This Scout II runs,shifts,drives,EXCELLENT. It is a true 6,418 mile Scout II. It has power steering and power brakes and is ready for enjoyment.

It is being offered by Harolds family. This is a RARE find. Its a one owner, original, super low milage (6,418 to be exact) 1978 International Harvester Scount II 4WD. Below is a list of the documents for the vechicle. All are in super condition.
